Story CSL: It's time for trades

Back to the US

Fernando, Christian and Livingstone all played good innings for Houston- what cost them was a complete lack of support. This was achieved by Austin with all 5 of their batsman making double figures.
upload_2021-1-3_12-18-35.png

Southern Conference
St Louis never looked like they had enough and while Memphis slumped to 7/125, a series of quickfire knocks throughout their innings got them home.
upload_2021-1-3_12-29-57.png

I missed the overview screen for this
Cincinatti had three thirties: Haper 32 (25), Jonker 35 (21), and Dube 33 (26). However, only one other batsman reached ten and they crawled to 9/133. Oklahoma cruised home at 2/134 with a rolling Steve Smith 51* (23) leading the way. However, Richard Gleeson's 4/22 was MOTM worthy.
Shoutout Cam Boyce for this:
upload_2021-1-3_12-43-53.png

Nashville's star Chris Lynn finally hit a semblance of form, getting 80* with assistance from Rossouw and Burns. However, Jonny Bairstow blew that out of the water with 125*.
upload_2021-1-3_12-54-15.png

Northeastern Conference

Chicago put in a competent performance. But Faf du Plessis put in a brilliant one.
upload_2021-1-3_13-9-19.png

A good effort by the openers was enough to get Cleveland home, although it was finished off by a quickfire innings from Kusal Perera.
upload_2021-1-4_12-6-53.png

Farhan Behardien bowled well to help restrict Milwaukee to 8/171 while Tom Haines finished the job.
upload_2021-1-4_12-12-17.png

Eastern Conference
Atlanta were anchored by Warner as Inglis, Davies and Stokes punched quick innings out. It proved to be too much for Orlando whose batsmen, Ferguson aside, struggled to get going.
upload_2021-1-4_12-17-28.png

Despite Rohit SHarma's good innings, ABD and Kuhn hit Boston home hard despite them being 2/1 in the first over.
upload_2021-1-4_12-23-27.png

Finally, Charlotte finally stopped being undefeated after a subpar batting performance and a much better one from Rizwan and Handscomb.
upload_2021-1-4_12-28-52.png

Table time!
upload_2021-1-4_12-46-34.png
upload_2021-1-4_12-46-45.png
Just two teams- Las Vegas and Oklahoma- are left undefeated, while three- Cincinatti, Philadelphia and Orlando- have lost all three games.

Stats!
Overall Runs: Root still well clear, Gunathilaka rises to second, also Root's average is 341!
upload_2021-1-4_12-49-59.png

Strike Rate: Gayle, Uthappa, Kuhn the most notable names; Morgan drops from 7th to entirely off
if you're wondering why the list is so short, there's a ton of bowlers on 200
upload_2021-1-4_12-52-8.png

Bowling Overall Wickets: Gleeson and Permaul surge to the top, Phehlukwayo with the best average
upload_2021-1-4_12-53-15.png

Economy: New bowlers and legspinners at the top, Adil, Rauf, Khaleel and Richardson the stars.
upload_2021-1-4_12-53-59.png

Charlotte and Oklahoma's economical bowling seem to have contributed to their good seasons so far

More games tomorrow!

Weback for Round 5

Western Conference
Sam Hain batted San Fran to a competitive total but ultimately an undefendable one.
upload_2021-1-6_12-26-13.png

LA and San Diego both had a batsman with a fast start (Shaun Marsh and Chris Gayle) and a bowler who took around 2/45 (Meredith and Bumrah). However, it was the partnership of Paine and Kohli that was a matchwinning one despite the efforts of Parthiv for San Deigo.
upload_2021-1-6_12-48-7.png

Seattle suffered a slightly less extreme form of Renegadeitis in this game. Las Vegas survived losing Joe Root for 16 thanks to the anchoring knock of Hughes and the speedround played by van Zyl.
upload_2021-1-6_12-59-5.png

Southwest Conference
Banton, Denly and Andile played well for Phoenix but the rest of the team badly let them down, particularily with such a dominant batting performance from Dallas who used Imrul Kayes as the innings glue allowing Salt, Bell-Drummond and Pfeffer to go around him.
upload_2021-1-6_13-9-17.png

After Houston played okay but not brilliantly with the bat, the priorly bad Andre Russell and Dan Christian, and the priorly good Chahal, bowled them to a win.

So yesterday's didn't post... two-for today then

A last minute six from Tim Bresnan sealed a win in which he was instrumental.upload_2021-1-7_15-55-21.png

Southern Conference
Cincinatti's batting actually didn't let them down today! Their bowling...
upload_2021-1-7_16-17-38.png

Nashville were spearheaded by a 138 run opening partnership and despite Cam Green's efforts they never let Memphis back in.
upload_2021-1-7_16-28-1.png

Indy had, once again, the Amla and Akmal show. This meant Oklahoma lost their first of the series.upload_2021-1-7_16-40-52.png

Northeastern Conference
Cleveland did not bat well, and Chicago capitalised with a huge win.

Anyone recognise this? Maybe a hint to the future of the series?
1610083441716.png

Gunathilaka, Gill and Hafeez all made 50 (or near enough) to get Washington home.
upload_2021-1-8_10-45-35.png

Philly had a case of too many quickfire innings with no real spine to their innings, and while 184 was a good total, Tom Haines took his innings to a different level to win the game for Detroit.
1610083847368.png

Eastern Conference
Wayne Madsen continued to prove why he was a good selection for Atlanta with 59, but it was the bowling that won Atlanta the game.
1610083908434.png

New York batted capably but were destroyed by measured innings from Burns and Ferguson and a less measured innings from Blundell.
1610084527466.png

Melbourne Renegades moment

Stats dive!
Batting
Runs Aggregate: Joe Root finally has competition
1610085739657.png
Strike Rate: Thanks to Seattle being bowled out it's a lot more mixed at the top
1610085821584.png

Bowling
Overall Wickets: With the part timers fading, Gleeson is now on top
1610085972523.png
Economy Rate: Some of Charlotte's bowlers have been better than others
1610086010746.png
1610086034904.png

And finally... the tables!
1610086139704.png
1610086167222.png
What we can learn:
* One team (Las Vegas) is undefeated)
* Two teams (Cincinatti and Philadelphia) are winless
* 23/30 teams are on either 6 or 4 points, with the others being: 1 10, 3 8, 1 2, 2 0

Time for a BBL match!

The Strikers selected Harry Conway for Worrall as well as the more expected change involving Valente being demoted. The Scorchers brought in Roy and Livingstone with Clarke and Fawad making way- the thought there obviously being the pitch not being as condusive to spin as Manuka. yes Josh Inglis is really tall and an allrounder, ignore that please, that is meant to be Inglis
1610135036912.png

The Strikers didn't exactly bat well. Weatherald missed a Richardson yorker in the second over, while there was a small collapse in the next two. Salt was run out brilliantly by Livingstone at mid on on the second-to-last ball of Tye's first over, while Renshaw (caught at backward point) and Short (mid on) were dismissed in Agar's first. Carey and Wells rallied until Behrendorff knocked over Wells with one that seamed in. The very next over, Mitch Marsh, who had found economy by bowling a consistent line and length and only mixing up his variations, got Carey with one that went straight on from there. Rashid departed in the ninth over caught at backward point, and while Siddle did get Tye away to an extent, Briggs was tied down in the final over, leaving the Strikers with 96.
1610135761363.png

Jhye Richardson and Marsh were exceptional.
1610136858625.png

The Scorchers started impressively but there was then a small issue coming up to the bash boost. First they lost Livingstone chipping to Renshaw at cover, then after missing the point and in the next Rashid over, not only did Roy top edge an attempted six, but Marsh was run out chipping into space, thanks to some athleticism from Rashid. However, Bancroft and Turner stabilised the ship before Matt Short was brought on, the success of Briggs and Khan possibly causing that? All we know is Turner did get out, but not after 4, 6, 4. That meant it was a run a ball from there and Bancroft cruised home with Tall Josh Inglis.

Well
1610138124048.png

Perth move to second

Round 6!

The difference here? The pace of the big scorer, as well as the level of support.
1610247410221.png

The opening parnership between the stable Hughes and on-fire Chandimal got Las Vegas the win, and while they both got out, a six by Root confirmed the win.
1610247809863.png

Seattle did well, but some rapidfire knocks for San Diego gave them the slight upper hand.
1610248190936.png

Southwestern Conference
A quickfire innings from Henriques pulled the match from the fire for Dallas.
1610248576631.png

Jono Wells, along with a variety of quickfire innings, got Austin home despite the efforts (again) of Banton, Pant and Andile.
1610249098474.png

Sorry chaps, no matches today. Busy with the Test. We should be back to normal tomorrow

games, also expect a sim format change in the very near future!

In a close match Travis Head's rolling innings proved the difference.
1610413343100.png

Nashville and Kansas' innings were similar with one key difference- Nashville didn't get a big score. They lost as a result
1610414040800.png

Oklahoma looked threatened by Indy's mild score when they fell to 8/106, but Kesrick Williams hung in while Unadkat hit home. James Peirson moment
1610415132164.png

Cincinatti managed to, somehow, bat their way home with Elgar successfully returning, and Godleman and Nair getting great knocks.
1610415769340.png

Chicago got monstered. Gunathilaka continued his brilliant form but Shikhar Dhawan was the most notable inclusion.
1610416394534.png

Detroit came close but ultimately the brilliant innings from Kusal Perera was enough for Cleveland.
1610502573358.png

Philadelphia looked like they could win their first game, but Faf du Plessis and Thisara Perera had other ideas and showed their class to win for Washington.
1610503981303.png

Eastern Conference
New York struggled with a competitive total only coming off the bat of Hardik. Atlanta easily overhauled it with Warner starring.
1610505192096.png

Boston batted well and bowled well... except for Lewis Gregory who bowled the best spell of the tournament.
1610506021189.png

Death bowling from Morkel and Edwards won Miami the game after a big ton by Sharma.
1610506429550.png

Tables:
1610508399197.png
1610508411511.png
Las Vegas are still unbeaten, while with Cincinatti finally winning Philly are the only winless team.

Stats Time!
Batting: With Root failing, Gunathilaka goes well clear
1610508528194.png

Strike Rate: Hannon-Dalby and Tharanga on debut go 1-2
1610508583998.png

Bowling Overall: After 6/20, Gregory joins Andile at the top

Bowling Strike Rate: Another debutant on top

Some important news!

Firstly, no games today, was busy.

But more importantly... effective next round, the competition will be moving to CS09.

Why?
  • CS09, in my testing, is a lot more balanced between batting and bowling first- 80% of the first 6 rounds' games have been won by the chasing team
  • It's also easier to edit players and lineups permanently
  • And it's more convenient for me.
Why didn't I start this on there? Simply I couldn't get it to work until recently.

Sixers vs Renegades for the BBL comp, though!

Forgot to grab lineups but Sixers gave Lloyd Pope a chance while Renegades did the same for Fraser McGurk.

The Sixers' innings started strong- Hughes and Philippe pasting the first three overs. Imad Wasim was punished in particular, conceding 15 off what proved to be his only over. However, Hughes fell in Hatzoglou's first and the wheels began to fall off. The scoring rate was slowed right down before Nabi got the prize wicket of Philippe chipping to mid-wicket. This caused a collapse. Hatzoglou dismissed Henriques caught at mid on in over 7, Nabi's next over got rid of Christian cutting one to Finch at short third man, and Lalor got a double breakthrough in the penultimate over- sending one fizzing through Vince before Shaun Marsh took a classic catch at mid-on to send back Silk. Despite late hitting from Holder, the Sixers only scored 40 in their last 5 and were up against it.
1610599728499.png
The Renegades bowled really well as soon as they had that first wicket. Lalor, Hatzoglou and Nabi all got two wickets while not giving much away.
1610599928516.png

The Sixers needed to take early wickets, and they did get Finch off the first ball of the third over. However, that's where their joy ended. Harper, who had been aggressive early, took a back seat as Shaun Marsh pasted the attack to all parts. He hit his first two balls for four, two massive sixes off O'Keeffe and brought up his 50 by slamming the ball back past Brathwaite. While Harper did get out trying to join in the fun and instead picking long on, Rossouw came out and ran hard as Marsh got across the line comfortably.
1610599911779.png
The only Sixer to keep their economy rate intact was Brathwaite. Everyone else was expensive. Lloyd Pope, interestingly, was not bowled, although maybe that has something to do with what happened to O'Keeffe.
1610600067065.png

Man of the Match was Shaun Marsh easily.
1610600121152.png1610600136673.png

This looks completely opposite! Renegades and Stars are at last in real life.

This looks completely opposite! Renegades and Stars are at last in real life.
Yeah, even odder, the Gades lost their first and then won four straight

Round 7 has several interesting results...
The biggest talking point though? Las Vegas have lost! Having been 5/60 following a rare failure for their top order, they did rally well with Van Zyl and Van der Merwe getting good crease time but it wasn't enough as soon as Khawaja and Klaassen started playing as well as they did as a pair. Ravi Bopara also got a wicket maiden. A nice note of this, given today, is Navdeep Saini getting Man of the Match, having got David Wiese, Asad Shafiq and van der Merwe's wickets.
1610679727349.png

Three fifties set Seattle up well as LA once again couldn't stick with a plan. However with the bat they proved they could, as Shaun Marsh and Virat Kohli put on 140 of the 186 target. Marsh was not out in the end but Kohli got Man of the Match for the second game in a row.
1610680206223.png

There was success for Portland as the priorly out of touch Josh Philippe finally got moving, only getting out chopping on from Agar's last ball. San Diego couldn't get close in the end.
1610681365322.png
Ashton Agar now has the incredible batting record this series of 14 (31)

Southwestern Conference
Slow innings from Harris, Rahane and Pandey were suddenly sped up when Zampa whent for 0/70 from his 4 overs. In response, Phil Salt played a blinder but he struggled for support. However, Henriques, Pfeffer and in the end Zampa held on for long enough to get over the line.
1610681934891.png

Missed the fifth overview screen. Despite ducks for both openers. Kansas made 160 thanks to a lightning 62* from Bresnan and contributions from all 3 players above him in the order, while Kelly and Rahul Chahar (on debut) took 3/35 (7) combined with the ball. However, a great innings from Livingstone [72 (33)] got Houston into a great position, which meant that despite ducks for Larkin, Imam and Russell, Christian and Kelly got Houston home.
