Because somebody had to...

Taking kits and teams made by @wasteyouryouth and bringing them to life in all of their garish glory. I'll be playing as the away side in each game. And I'll try to have highlights and statistics for all of them

1st up we've got Birmingham Phoenix vs Welsh Fire... Enjoy.

Game 1: Birmingham Phoenix vs Welsh Fire - Edgebaston, Birmingham.

Welsh Fire won the toss and decided to bowl 1st. Preferring to chase with Bairstow opening the batting.

It looked to be a mistake as the Phoenix raced to 26 for no loss from just 3 overs, before being pegged back slightly as Ahmed bagged the wicket of Delport with a peach of a delivery. This wouldn't really slow things down as Ali and Kane Williamson put on 50 for the 2nd wicket. Simon Harmer did eventually have Ali caught behind, leaving the Phoenix 93-2 after 10 overs

Harmer then removed Williamson in his next over, making it look like the innings might be swinging in favour of the Welsh, but some solid batting and sloppy fielding would again but Birmingham in control...

Wickets did start to fall fairly frequently in the final 5, meaning the very real prospect of the Phoenix making 200+ was avoided. However the fielding errors crept in again. Meaning the full 100 balls were needed and the Fire were set 195 to win

Welsh Fire innings coming up...

Best believe the Fire innings got off to the worst possible start. Losing Banton to the 2nd ball of the innings for a Golden Duck. Needing to go at just over 9s, Bairstow and the incoming Steve Smith made light work of some loose bowling, putting on 69 in the power play - Bairstow did get a life, a dropped high ball inside the circle keeping him at the crease.

Bairstow and Smith continued briefly after the power play, before a mix up saw off Smith. Jonny would follow soon after, holing out to mid-on. The Phoenix spinners bowled well in tandem, and did Pat Brown, choking the Fire innings taking a couple of cheap wickets. Ben Duckett and Ryan Ten Doeschate were able to get us back on track. Meaning the Fire need 66 runs from the final 40 balls

Everything looked to be in hand for the Welshmen until a bad decison/ some excellent fielding saw of Ten Doeschate, leaving the Fire to sneak home with 4 of the 2nd last ball (cocked up the last Vid, so the score card will have to do)

Result of game 1: Welsh Fire win by 4 wickets

MOTM: Qais Ahmed for figures of 38-3 from his 20 balls.

Next up, London Spirit take on Trent Rockets at Lords.

On to game 2 then...

London Spirit vs Trent Rockets - Lords, London.

Rockets won the toss and decided to bowl 1st on a medium green top pitch.

The Spirit got into things early in the 1st over, hitting Lewis Greggory for 9 from his 5 balls. Burns was given out LBW off the bowling of number 1 pick Rashid Khan. Only to have it over turned on review. Kahn followed this up with a maiden, Joe Denly seemingly having a bat that's all edge, trying to be too aggressive and not getting his timing right at all. After the power play it's pretty even. The Spirit sitting 45-0.

Next 5 overs were much of the same. Burns going well and Denly finding edge after edge. Denly nicked a free hit through to the keeper, only to go the ball after, caught behind for 25 off the bowling of Luke Fletcher. Glenn Maxwell came and went for 2, chopping a D'Arcy Short delivery onto his stumps. Incoming England Captain Morgan hit his 1st ball for 6, meaning the Spirit are 92-2 after 11

Morgan then holed out to fine leg 2 balls later, departing for 6, a superb delivery from Rashid Khan, who followed up the ball after, getting rid of Burns for 57 and bringing Van Der Merwe to face the hat trick ball...

Khan grabbed another in his next over, Dan Lawrenc going for 5. After a rapid start The Rockets have really made inroads and slowed the scoring. All to play for in the final 4...

So the Spirit finish the 100 balls, having made a ridiculous 195 on a pitch that's done a bit. D'Arcy Short bowling the final over will be a mistake his captain wont repeat. Going for 20.Rory Burns the pick of the batsmen for his 57 off 30. Rashid Khan the stand out bowler, his 20 balls going for just 31.

All to play for at the break. The Rockets need 196 to win at 9.8/over...

Essentially. What's happened here is Mark Wood and Mohammad Amir have botted the Rockets up and down the hill at Lords. Power play come and gone and the Nottingham side are starting down the barrel at 51-5 . Watch out for a fantastic diving catch at long on by Dan Lawrence to get rid of Joe Root. This one ain't going to be close folks, start the car...

Aye, that's a paddlin' the Rockets got behind the 8 ball and were never able to recover, eventually skittled, and the Spirit win by 83 runs

Result of Game 2: London Spirit won by 83 runs.
MOTM: Mohammad Nabi. 32 of 8 with the bat and 20 for 20 with the ball

Next up, Jos Buttlers Manchester Originals host Jofra Archers Southern Brave at Old Trafford...
