On to game 2 then...
London Spirit vs Trent Rockets - Lords, London.
Rockets won the toss and decided to bowl 1st on a medium green top pitch.
The Spirit got into things early in the 1st over, hitting Lewis Greggory for 9 from his 5 balls. Burns was given out LBW off the bowling of number 1 pick Rashid Khan. Only to have it over turned on review. Kahn followed this up with a maiden, Joe Denly seemingly having a bat that's all edge, trying to be too aggressive and not getting his timing right at all. After the power play it's pretty even. The Spirit sitting 45-0.
Next 5 overs were much of the same. Burns going well and Denly finding edge after edge. Denly nicked a free hit through to the keeper, only to go the ball after, caught behind for 25 off the bowling of Luke Fletcher. Glenn Maxwell came and went for 2, chopping a D'Arcy Short delivery onto his stumps. Incoming England Captain Morgan hit his 1st ball for 6, meaning the Spirit are 92-2 after 11
Morgan then holed out to fine leg 2 balls later, departing for 6, a superb delivery from Rashid Khan, who followed up the ball after, getting rid of Burns for 57 and bringing Van Der Merwe to face the hat trick ball...
Khan grabbed another in his next over, Dan Lawrenc going for 5. After a rapid start The Rockets have really made inroads and slowed the scoring. All to play for in the final 4...
So the Spirit finish the 100 balls, having made a ridiculous 195 on a pitch that's done a bit. D'Arcy Short bowling the final over will be a mistake his captain wont repeat. Going for 20.Rory Burns the pick of the batsmen for his 57 off 30. Rashid Khan the stand out bowler, his 20 balls going for just 31.
All to play for at the break. The Rockets need 196 to win at 9.8/over...
