Dude.....seriously.....you just don't get it? Do you? Proper Cricketing Shots....Not Edges....Not Younis Khan Cover Drives.....Not that dribble (with R1) behind square.

If you can post a video or direct me to one where players have hit to Cover, Thirdman and Fineleg using orthodox cricket shots....I will accept that my assertion of these areas being inaccessible was wrong.

Even your own conservative summary....90 degrees on the leg side and 35 degrees through Cover....125 degrees in total.....does not include another 25 degrees through Thirdman.....which is also inaccessible and evident from your own wagon wheel. That makes it 150 degrees and that in itself amounts to more than 41% of the field.

For those playing at home 41% is less than 50%

Yeah....41% is his conservative estimate.....the reality is more....so anything above 45% qualifies as around 50%....:cheers

Congrats on missing the point varunschuey. He agrees with you that there are inaccessible areas, but he is highlighting your hyperbole, exaggeration and general inability to communicate your issues with Big Ant in a reasonable manner.

You're on Big Ant's ignore list because of this, so any posts you do make are like pissing in to the wind. Completely pointless and achieve nothing for you.

While others can succinctly, reasonably and respectfully communicate their issues. They get listened to.

We get it. You're not happy. If you're that unhappy, move on.

You are such a happy camper. Aren't you? Thankfully, so am I :yes

Do you think that Bigant fixing this game will do something for me......am I worried that they are not taking my feedback....seriously?

Based on your continued, seemingly habitual moaning about the game, yes. Yes, I do think that.

Fair point. Anyway, "this single foolish game will not success" but that has no bearing on my happiness....perhaps the developers and publishers are the ones who need to lose sleep, having lost all the goodwill they had generated through DBC 14.

Fortunately they're not losing sleep over any of your posts or feedback.

Firstly, those were all proper cricket shots, there were zero edges in that. The one over slips was a lofted shot for giggles at the end of the set I was doing. equally, I used that as a guide, on it's own, for how far I could get the ball to go on the offside. If I'd given it a few more tries I'd likely have been able to bring it further. You can't just magically decide that behind square is now entirely off limits (it isn't, those were all normal leg side shots) then still use that estimate. Again, the figure I gave was already an overestimate, the absolute maximum you could justify. There's no salami tactics to be played on that one. My estimate wasn't conservative.

Even your silly attempt though still only got to 41% though... wowzers, even you're arguing against your own point now.

Which shots from that wagon wheel to you want me to replicate? Just give me a list.

I take your word and stand corrected....however even if it is 41%.......is that an acceptable state for the game to be released in....come on....I believe you have higher standards.

Fortunately they're not losing sleep over any of your posts or feedback.
How do you know that? They have read my review....but that is besides the point....the public backlash through various channels has been so overwhelming, even a diplomatic and extremely measured Chief said that something has gone very wrong with this game.

If my deliverables or services were subjected to such negative feedback from the masses.....I would certainly not be sleeping for a long time......but hey I would also not lose sleep if I never really cared about it or never invested meaningful effort into it. This is like taking things for granted while serving a notice period....just waiting for your chickens to hatch....but ultimately it will come back to bite you.

It is not 41%, it is, at most, 34.7%. Further tests could only reduce this number. I have a suspicion it's closer to the 30% mark (you can play at shot to first slips face if you really wish). I think I've done an alright job of highlighting that cover basically can't be hit with standard shots. I would again refer to this diagram though:

zSzRLLi.jpg

One thing that is notable is that you can in this version play straight, which was close to impossible, and in now way safe, in the release version of DBC 14. The bowler was the best fielder on the pitch. That is still true to some extent with spinners, and that still needs to be turned, but playing straight off the back foot in this version feels great, something that was a weakness in DBC 14. The issue with the leg glace and through cover can be fixed, as well as any other shots that aren't triggering properly (e.g. the square cut, with us instead getting the 'tail ender cut'). There is potential here for batting to be even better than in DBC 14.

At some point I think it's worth taking time to consider the advantages and positives we're seeing in the game, not just the negatives. By framing the negatives properly, understanding their extent, and being able to report that accurately, we will be able to report that properly to BigAnt. Constant use of hyperbole and insulting the devs is not likely to be useful to them. If they're needing to wade knee deep through personal attacks and exaggeration of issues, it's hard for them to do anything about it. If they keep hearing "I can't hit 50% of the field", they boot up their copies and can immediately see that's false, they're just write you off as a loon.

Consider the issue, report what you think it is, and report how you think improving it will fix the game. Clearly here the issue is that we're missing two high profile shots, that we can see the AI play. Fixing it will allow us to bat closer to real life. There are equally some shots that seem to be replaced by less orthodox versions. Overall it appears something is preventing players from triggering some shots. Given time I'm sure that BigAnt will fix the issue. They have in fact noted it, and explicitly stated they've noted it a few times. The PC version is coming up, and to be honest, I expect to see this issue fixed on there before we get it on PS4 and Xbone, because it's easier to roll out fixes for PC. We'll see the reports of such fixing rolling in ideally before the end of the month, but it could be longer depending on how much time is being taken up fixing technical issues on both consoles and PC.

You'll find you're quote mining. Chief was noting that something had gone very wrong with how shot selection works. Nobody is disagreeing with this, not me, not you, not anyone who's had time and seen the evidence posted. That doesn't mean the whole game has gone very wrong, it was a very specific point on here, about this particular issue.

Wishful...fanciful....low expectations, settling for worse than a previous edition....oh god!:facepalm

I would probably think just like you if this was their first version of the game.....but never mind....I have my standards and I am thankful where they are:yes

You are a person of greatly conflicting standards then. You expect greatness from indie devs, no bugs allowed apparently. Despite this, your own posts are riddled with factual errors, exaggeration and at times are barely coherent.....but never mind....I have my standards and I am thankful where they are:yes

In my opinion, the bolded text is where you lose everyone.

You have legitimate points (sometimes masked by extreme exaggeration), but then you drop a line like this that has absolutely zero groundings in fact or reality. You don't know how much they care, or what effort has gone in, so why make the comment? You could have just stated your grievance (e.g. shot control is limited, based on xyz evidence) and just left it. You could have had a voice in improving the game, but you piss it away with comments like this.

And that is the reason my opinion about this game echoes that of the masses....while yours reflects that of a very, very, very tiny minority:clap
