Review Demo impressions thread

We were told the AI know its a 3 over match however they are not optamised!

Translated: They dont really know whats going on!! lol

WTF does that mean LOL !!

Translation : Play it at your own Risk !! :D

IIRC. the demo is 2 weeks prior to the play tests...
if what heath said is true...then such glaring bugs SHOULD be rectified !

so in that case with plenty of bugs fixed as he said surely then things like run outs MUST have been sorted u would think!

I think they meant the AI knows they need to attack, but because not optamised they dont change field regulary etc and they dont always chase that well!!!???

today i have downloaded so much anticipated game Ashes 2009 ,,sadly but i would have to say that codemasters are just trying to sell their own old product into a new product cover ,,,i am totally disappointed with this game...

generally i play Ea cricket 2007 with my co mate at leisure time,,,and from past 2 years i am continuously playing it without no felling of boring,,even with my co mate i more enjoy this game rather than playing with computer,,the main reason is AI..we always play in like a 2 match or 3 match series,,and often i win

But EA cricket 2007 was major change in EA cricket series,,i liked BLC 2005 because of its real gameplay but players character looks more cartoon like in BLC series,,

I just want to get a modified version of EA Cricket 2007 with officially new players not with an patch ,, new grounds new commentary ,,,thats all
:rtfl:rtfl:rtfl:rtfl
wait for the next EA game! Its going to be EA cricket 07 but with Roster Updates!!

I think the game a good step foward relatively to EA's products.

My only problem so far with the demo is bowling. Just cannot for the life of me get any LBW appeal nor am I ever able to get a batsmen edging the ball to slips or to the keeper(in hard mode). Whilst in Normal mode I did found edges but obviously as we all know, they are like edges coming off from a Michael Clarke's delivery from a long run-up.

Apart from that its good to see that the batsmen shot range is not fixed unlike EA05/07.The bowl CAN go between two fielders easily while not going too deep(near the boundary).

If only bowling is adjusted in the final version of the game, it would be a cracker to play.
Because all other bugs including :

1.run-outs(which aren't already as ridiculous like EA 05/07)
2.bouncers being either at stumps or 10 ft above the batsmen
3.and other small matters

hopefully can be fixed.

A Good cricket game.

I have gone through this tread where i have read so many bad comments about the game i dont agree with most of the people i am writing a few things i wud have liked in the demo remember guys this is just a demo:

1) Fielders dive and field very well at bondaries and in general. Cathing with two hands would have made this better.
2) Hook shot is played with bat between shoulder and head.
3) Batsman leans into a cover drive.
4) you can play mind games while playing a test match like employe a leg slip, leg gully man at bat pad may be deep sqaure and actually trouble a batsman not so good at playing a shot ball thats test cricket.
5) Look at the way batsman go for the second run treat to eyes when his hands touch the ground.
6) I could get a timely front foot defence between point and covers for a single name me a cricket game that did this. None.
7) Look at the defence oh brilliant remember this is a test match demo.
8) I could finally catch a few with codies been a time since that happened:) ... thanks for that.
9) And actually i cud find gaps with the new batting system .. there are 1's, 2's,3's 4's n 6's and not just 4's and 6's in this game.
10) Flick between mid-wicket and mid-on ... mid-wicket and sqare leg again dont remember a game having this and all shots look so real i loved them.... Ya bowling bar can still be raised buts its decent enough.
11) I hope the camera angles can be adjusted with the actual game mainly when ball goes in the out field. Its something i didnt like 2 much.

And any person who writes in this thread dont tell me EA makes cricket games with wrestlers playing they are rubbish mind u most of us played a better version of EA 2007 with the patches else the game was rubbish.

I am sure there wud be people commenting and disagreeing but i am writing for those who refer PC to decide if i buy this game or not ... its a good enough decent game. A lot lot more fluid compared to BLC07.

I appreciate your work Transmission guys :hpraise take a bow.
looking forward to buy this and have fun playing ... thanks

This is annoying being unable to play the demo when everyone else is posting reviews. Fortunately I have some new components coming on Tuesday (new mobo, processer and 4GB RAM) that will allow me to play it at full graphics setting. Chances are I'll have the actual game by Wednesday though and won't bother at all with the demo.

Can I just ask... wouldn't a new PC be a better investment :facepalm

:laugh

Actually batting is really brilliant and have great depth.Bowling has some nice ideas but there is some really frustrating issues in the demo.

1)Flintoff's bowls are look like collingwood's bowls.ie even if they show 135+ for flintoff they look like 105-110.Anderson is bowling slower like a spinner.
2)CPU tries to attack every ball in a test match and playing like it's a t10 match in hard mode. They just batting like GOD mode is activated where ever u bowl they just smack it for 6 or 4 every bowl and times ever bowl perfectly :mad::mad::mad:.It just ruins the bowling section for me.Like somebody said I hope it is because it is intended to be a 3 over demo.
3)I don't know about others but I personally think coloring system in the bowling is a let down.According to it if we bowl in yellowish green parts it is a good bowl and all most all other bowls are hit to 4's by the current AI,it is a bit unrealistic really.Because of this good balls in real cricket is ended up as bad bowls in AC09.It gives me the feeling that AI is forcing some control over our bowling and I really hate it.
4)Replays are really really really crap:mad:
5)Everyone is mad about the Runouts.

All this is in Hard mode.Apart from this issues it is a really great game Batting and fielding section are top notch and somewhat real.Animations are ok.But this issues already made this demo boring for me honestly.I wish they fix all this in full game or atleast release a patch. But codies had a bad reputation in the case of making patches after the release of their game.

I think u should be more appreciative when u speak about other games ... u are always there when a new game update comes from any game. Else there are always time issue with work on TOC.

I am also a supporter of TOC and really appreciate the idea but appreciate a person like Lm who never gives a loose comment but i always read from you for other games and update and its so evident tht its never appreciating and always trying to bring them down.

Stay calm mate!.... we know for sure the AI know its a 3 over match! So attacking play is expected!

Apparantly the demo is 2 weeks prior to the playtest! and Heath stated that they had made tonnes of fixes to the bugs!

so this can only be positive!:):banana2

Had a great match against my brother on the 360 demo.

One thing which I LOVED was an over by Freddie (me playing as England). Roughed him up with some bouncers, bowled a slower one on or just outside off stump, he went to drive at it, got the inside edge and hit leg stump. Was quality.

I know the feeling. And now that there's official confirmation that there is going to be no PS3 demo (ps3 demo release? - Page 2 - Codemasters Forum), I'm left with nothing but a mightily sorry feeling for myself.

I've got a question for those ordering the game (on PS3) in the US or in India. The game releases on the 7th; I'm traveling to India from the US on the 14th. What do you think would be more practical - buying in UK and having it shipped to the US (what's the soonest you think I can have it arrive in the US?) or just buy it in India?

Apologize if this is seen as off-topic, will be happy to move into a separate thread.

there are huge block borders on the up and downside of screen while playing the game .is there a way to get rid of it?

also the AI bowls 1 -2 no balls each over on a average.

Actually optimism is not working for me mate, because beta version is what they use for fixing the errors and bugs.Demo is a crippled version of the final product and I think they hardly change AI after that.So hope for a patch after realease.

The demo game seems to be in "Overcast" condition. Am I rite?

Coz, as at times, I loose sight of the ball in the field n the surrounding look a bit gloomy (easily compared to the overcast condition of EA game).

I am reading about some members complaining that flintoff's speed are too low. The reason is that you might be playing all the games in overcast conditions. Restart the game unless you get good sunny conditions. Flintoff was destroying me at 95 MPH on a good sunny day
