Different batting stance and bowling actions

All great ideas mate but to be honest i just want the gameplay to be ace first and in future version we get this kind of options.

Same here....as long as the animations that we 'do' have in the game are good and blend well to create a pleasant and realistic experience

ross will definately look into these ideas for the next ba cricket version which he has assured,
once the gameplay is accepted by fans in this version the next version will be all about putting more detail and individual player characteristic styles in the game.

Don't quite get your point. Gambhir & Kallis are different batsmen and that's the reason their shots differ. Now, Gambhir & Ganguly's square cuts looked different too in spite of both being like handed. It depends on the batsman individually, there's nothing to do with you being left handed or right handed.

I am guessing the 6 different mentality they have on cricket academy like radical, conservative, precise will also mean a bit of variation in animations...

Yes, get the shot right first, then think about variations in later versions! There may already be variations, but it's not going to bother me *that* much if there isn't. It's the same shot.

Just to illustrate what i'm tying to suggest with a few examples,

1. How diff "a dab shot to third-man" looks when played by say Kallis as compared to Gambhir
2. How diff "an aerial square-cut over third-man" looks when played by Jayasuriya as compared to Sehwag
3. How diff "a cover drive" looks when played by Dravid, Amla as compared to those played by Lara, Ganguly
4. How diff is the action of left-arm fast bowler like Mitchell Starc, Dirk Nannes from right-arm fast bowler like Dale Steyn or Shane Bond.
5. How diff is a classic right-arm off-spinner's action from classic left-arm spinner's action

In previous titles, we've seen how these movements have been mirror images w.r.t. right-handed & left-handed players, haven't we ?

Not sure how critical it is to implement, but at least I expect all batting & bowling actions to stay same for like-handed players while they should be different for opposite-handed players i.e. right-handed players will bowl & bat similar to other righties, left-handed players will bowl & bat similar to other lefties, but the body movement & execution mannerism should not be common for lefties & righties.

For points 1-4 I think you could find similarly large differences purely within right handed batsmen (or left). I don't think the differences come just from being different handed, but are largely due to everyone having a different technique.

I'll agree though that finger spin traditionally looks very different between right and left handers.

My point is why do a leftie's shot need to look as a mirror-image of rightie's shot or why does a left-arm bowler's action need to be exact mirror-image replica of right-arm bowler. Such rendition makes it look like we are not watching a left-hander, but a right-hand batsman batting through a mirror.

Okay, so speaking by what you want here, why should a rightie's shot look like another rightie's shot? It would look like we are watching the same batsman, leave aside the mirror image.
You see, getting different animations for right/left handed players would be pretty baseless. Two players, or rather any two players irrespective of their dominant hand, look different. Just as a right handed batsman differs from a left handed one, even two right handed batsmen differ from each other. It's got to do with their individual technique than their dominant hand. Hope you get my point, I can't convey it to you any better than this.

Agreed to what you are saying, but even Sachin & Sehwag have looked quite similar while batting as well as Lara & Darren Bravo, although these two examples are quite exception than norm. Baseless or not, I'm asking for similar, not same execution mannerism for like-handed players, which should be dissimilar for opposite-handed players. The mirror image thingy is such a dampener for me and has always been. Anyways thanks everyone for your inputs, no point in carrying forward a discussion which majority don't agree.

Getting a bit off track, Sachin & Sehwag haven't quite looked similar. Sachin loves getting on the front foot & dancing down the pitch, while Sehwag is more about hand-eye coordination with negligible feet movement.

When Sehwag burst unto international scene with a 60-odd ball ODI century in SL way back in 1999-00 season, there were many talks of how he looked like Sachin, he himself admittedly told to have modeled his batting on his inspiration Sachin. Especially back-foot punch for a cover drive & tuck off the hip to backward square-leg looked quite identical. Of course both of their batting technique have evolved quite a bit over the last decade, taking injury & age into consideration.

Yes obviously we see it differently. Judging someone's technique is subjective. No matter how much we discuss it, we can't land at an absolute conclusion.
He tried to imitate Sachin back then, but ended up making his own style of play.

I really hate seeing bowlers all with the same action. It pains me when I watch Swann, Lyon, Harbhajan and Murali all bowling with the same action.

Gameplay first, still yes would love for us to pick preset actions for batting and bowling in the future versions.:thumbs

That was went all bodies were same and face structures werent much different. Hair wasn't clearly distinct and such stuff. Now with that I think the actions wouldnt look so much the same.
