Do other countries actually see england as a threat?

England have a hugely talented squad, but i don't think they work well together. In saying that i still would say they are a major contendor for the cup. Maybe it is Ericsson's fault that they can't work together?
Take Lampard and Gerrad for example. Easily two of the worlds best footballers, but put them together in central midfield and besides the occasional glimpses of brilliance not much happens. Beckham and Rooney are the key men, if Rooney manages to play i reckon they are a real shot.

In all likelihood, they will play Spain/Brazil in the semis - a match they won't win. They are contenders for the cup, but certainly not the main one. I think that they, along with any other team, can win if they play together as a team. There isn't any team in this tournament that can win on talent alone (yes, even Brazil). That's the main issue - teamwork. And personally, I don't think Sven is the man to unite these players. I will eat my words if I'm wrong, but I really can't see England going all the way. After 1-0 to Paraguay...

Wait till Rooney comes :p

They don't play as a team enough. The England team is more like a team filled with players that want to be the hero, Gerrard, Lampard and Beckham.

All of them are impact players and all of them know how to change a match into their favour. But with 3 impact players it doesn't match perfectly at all.

We were as convinving as Brazil were last night, they came closer to a non-won than we did.

Our win was partly the players but mainly Svens decisions.

We won't win this tournament, I don't think brazil will either. Only 1 World Cup on European soil and that was 48 years ago in 1958

You know, I don't actually want England to win the World Cup because it would ensure Svens name goes down in history as one of the best England managers, a title that I oculdn't really put on him. To be fair, the man could have done a lot worse. I would rather have Steve Mclaren win the World Cup.
However, I would still like England to do well, it would be good to see them in the semis.

Rubbish, he is the most consistent footballer at set pieces in world football atm.

To say he does nothing is stupid.

5 of our last 7 goals have been from his set pieces.

Without him Real Madrid would be so much worse of aswell.
I never said he wasn't exceptional at set pieces, but so are many people.Do they get as much attention as him, there are much better players who do not get enough credit while Beckham swans around at Real Madrid.Though i agree they would be alot worse without him.

Swans around?

He puts in alot of effort.

I'm not sure what you're getting at with 'swans around'.

Beckham has always put in effort, at Man Utd it was said he would run 13KM a game.

Beckham is England's best player. Not the most talented, but the best.

And after that atrocious preformance against T&T (not to mention Paraguay), I can't see England doing much in this tournament. Ecuador will run them ragged.

Well some teams improve a lot as the tournament progresses. Although England need to improve quite a lot before bigger and tougher tests.

England always struggle vs the lesser teams and perform vs the better teams.

Results win tournaments, performances don't.

Well he ISN'T at Man U anymore and i think alot of people forget that.Has he really lived up,or played as well at Madrid as he did at Man U?

Imo Beckham has done well at Madrid on a number of occassions, but when the team performs below expectation, the players performances tend to drop.

England are a good side, with plenty of good players. But my personal opinion of England is they are a bunch of heros. Every player wants to be the best, instead of every player wanting to be part of the best team. But if they play well together there is no reason why they can't win the World Cup.

Apart from the fact they might have to play a TOP inform team... :D
