Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

Yeah, I decided against commenting much on the graphics for that reason - I've seen enough of DB14 to know they've leaped forward.

AFL Live certainly doesn't seem like a first attempt, which gives me a lot of hope that we're not going to be sitting here after 'early September' ends and talking about how DB14 is just a sack of potential that goes unmet because it's a 'good first attempt'.

AFL Live followed the first Rugby League Live so it was the second iteration of our sports engine. That said, we'd also made some big games like Spyro the dragon etc.. prior to that.

That was part of my point - switching sports didn't set you back to the typical 'first sports game' syndrome that plagues Cricket games.

That's why your visit to bigant studios is so important for all of us Matt.
The AI is the area i want to see the most with career mode being second.

PS Timing on ic2010 was not hard when you work out how to play on hard, what i did is play a little earlier and get used to the timing.
PS What i would love to see is the ai to bat and bowl better on hard to easy, not with 6s or 4s but leaving the ball and bowling better line and length with less crap.

As someone who has played RLL2 a lot recently, I've discovered the frustrating and rewarding things of that game.

Probably the main frustrating thing is for somebody who has played a lot of Rugby league games that were made by Sidhe. You try to use those 'cheats' and they just do not work. There's no easy way on the higher difficulties, it takes patience. Like in FIFA you can't just sprint all the time, you need to consider what you are doing.

I can see how this could be similar with Bradman 14. We are so use to a certain way games play, having a new way will be challenging.

The AI in RLL2 can be punishing as well. Especially when you push a pass that normally you wouldn't throw, and it gets picked up by the opposition and they runaway and score.

Having both AFL Live and RLL2, you can see the advancement. While they aren't perfect, both games are definitely on the right track. I do look forward to the next edition of Rugby League.*

*As a suggestion Ross - I'm sure you've heard this - a feature that allows you to develop 'plays' would be a great addition. :yes

I like the idea of having a challenging game to get used to, particularly for a cricket game. It reflects how much practise is involved in getting used to the sport. WIth other cricket games, it's like you can create a new character, waltz into a t20 game and wack 250* in your first innings. Here, it looks like there will be some serious learning curves to experience, something that both reflects the game we love in real life, and that we severely lack in cricket games.

Before anyone gets too excited about release dates, this just means that the Embargo Period we put on the rating being made public has expired. I thought I'd better post this before someone else does, I guess it does mean the game is "real" :p

You really don't check the forum much before asking questions...

If it can run the Cricket Academy, it will likely be able to run the full gmae

Why do you care about Ashes release date so much ? I am tired of waiting and waiting :'(

Gee, I really don't know...

This question has been answered multiple times too....read around the forums.

Of course they're going to care about the pending release of a direct competitor in the form of another cricket game. It is foolish to think otherwise. A release date isn't just an arbitrary day.

So if they keep delaying and thats their legacy so we will expect the delay from this too...right ?

----------

What irritates me the most is not release date. It is that no info is out on special edition and i cant even pre order that. :'(

READ WHAT ROSS HAS POSTED - THIS HAS BEEN ANSWERED

The game will be released in 2013. The game will be released before Ashes Cricket 2013 is released.
