They sold Ashes on Steam for a few days before pulling it despite them not needing us to tell them how bad the product is - they'd already have the discs pressed to get ready for the planned physical release. 505 would have to step in and make a decision to cancel it totally, otherwise those boxes get shipped and those pre-orders get fulfilled.

There's still people daily tweeting to the @ashescricket13 account asking for the release date or when it will be on consoles - people just don't do research, they will see the Ashes box and buy it.

They've been relying on the Ashes brand doing all their marketing for them all this time, why give that up just because the game is broken?

I have mailed to Flipkart as well to not take orders for the Ashes game as its worthless...Just doing the best I can..:)

I think it would be nice to get an update from Ross regarding the release date in the context of various scenarios, i.e. if AC13 releases on consoles before Xmas; if AC13 release on consoles after Xmas; if it's a PC only release before Xmas; if it doesn't release at all etc...because surely these things can be answered now?!

Obviously the next few days/week will be decide this whole thing, but I don't see how the above question(s) couldn't be answered...

Commercial sensitivity, non disclosure agreements, us not needing to know etc etc.

it costs nothing to sell via steam. no way have they spent money on disks and distribution, i just don't see it. steam release was an attempt to claw something back.

Really though? This whole thing seems to be based solely on AC13.

Because its gaming market....It depends on timing your release as they are here for the long haul and without license and a new comer in cricket game and with a higher price than the so called "LICENSED ASHES" at a very low price ...It becomes very very important to get your timing right...So wait for the game if you do want such Cricket games every year....:cheers

Sorry Dad Martyn.

Why does every post questioning the release strategy get met with a response that implies the person is angry, frustrated and impatient for a release date?! We ALL know in the long run that a 2014 release is probably the best thing, but it doesn't mean we can't question what's happening!

That word is correct....I never said 2014 release at all...I only said it would be better to wait rather than asking for Ross' release strategy...:facepalm

Probably more to do with us having 273 pages of theories from the sublime to the ridiculous and people are just getting tired of it? There's really nothing that we're covering now that hasn't already been covered in regards to the infamous release date...

i'm whistling in the wind, but for me, 2013 is still better, much better, than any conceivable 2014 date.

If you can't beat them, join them.

dear mr ros simmonds, wen is release date for sir don brandmans game is releasing. pls tell us soon.

Because if he revealed his marketing strategy, it wouldnt be a strategy...itd be something for Ashes to work with

Ashes is dead. It has ceased to be, it is no more. It has joined the choir invisible, pushing up daisies etc. etc.

nobody serious about a retail release puts a game out on steam first. in ross' words, it "pisses off retailers". nobody serious about a retail release withdraws the facebook, makes no announcement whatsoever on release, not even a tweet. nobody with a game that broken presses disks and pays distributors.

they tried the digital claw back, and got barely 72 hours of it before it was pulled.

you're playing chess against a dead man.
