Fox Sports At The WACA
Western Australia Warriors Vs Victorian Bushrangers
13th October 2006

Change Of Innings Analysis
Western Australia Warriors ? 4/262

Brendan Julian: A very interesting 50 overs we have just witnessed here at the WACA with the Warriors, led by skipper Justin Langer?s 79 have put on a competitive 262 so my first question to Allan Border is can Victoria get the runs.

Allan Border: Well if there ever going to win there second mate against the Warriors at this ground then this is their best opportunity to do it. They?ll be quietly confident if the openers Moss and Klinger get them off to a good start. Im going to back the Bushrangers to pull off a win here.

BJ: Im afraid I?ll have to disagree AB I think the Warriors pace attack led by Dorey and Magoffin will be to strong. Theoretically if the Bushrangers were to win tough they would need a big hundred from one of their top six and I just don?t have the confidence in them that they will do that on what is becoming a two paced pitch.

AB:
That does bring up another question BJ. This pitch isn?t as flat as first thought and it is a little two paced which means the likes of Dorey, Magoffin, Worthington and Edmonson will be that little bit harder to play. I reckon the Bushrangers batting is all class though and should be up to the task.

BJ: You make a fair point I guess mate. Mark Waugh is standing by on the boundary with Victorian captain Cameron White so let?s cross down to them now.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Mark Waugh: Thanks boys. Cameron you have the task of 262 to win ahead of you how do you feel about that?

Cameron White: At the toss I said we?d like to chase 250 so im very happy with what we have restricted them to. We?ll have to bat well of course but im very confident that we can be travelling back to Melbourne with a win to start the season.

MW: Speaking of batting are there any changes to the order for this run chase?

CW: Yeah there is actually. Jesse Slatter is moving up to number three, which was the idea of one of our assistant staff who asked

Is there any chance of experimenting Slats with no3 position?

So we thought why not? He?s making his comeback to domestic cricket in this innings with the bat and we have confidence that batting him at number three will allow him time to build an innings before upping the tempo should we have to at the end of the innings.

MW: Sounds like a good positive decision to me. What did you think of the team effort on the whole in this your first innings of the season so far and what are your expectations for the rest of the season?

CW: The energy levels of all the boys today was 100%. The fielding was spot on with no misfields and no dropped catches and I though the bowlers were exceptional without having much luck. We have a very promising season ahead of us but obviously our main focus is on winning the Pura Cup although I also like our chances in the one-day game as well.

MW: Thanks for talking to us Cameron and best of luck in your run chase and the 2006/2007 season.

CW: Thanks Junior. Cheers.

MW: Back to you BJ.

------------------------------------------------------------------

BJ: Well there you have it the Victorian skipper as you would expect is confident of getting the runs and has made a change in the batting order promoting Slatter to number three.

AB: It?ll be interesting if an early wicket falls and he?s in there against the new ball that?s for sure. He has batted on a number of occasions at 3 so this isn?t a step out of line for him. He?ll look to settle early and go about accumulating runs as usual and hopefully for the Bushrangers he can get some runs along with the other 5 batsmen.

BJ: That?s it from us for now. We?ll come back to the WACA in around 45 minutes from now for the Victorian Bushrangers run chase of 262. See you then.

Excellent decision to promote Slats to no3 ! But at the same time, Slats responsiblity also increases now! Lets see how this young man manages in no3! :) ( may be he shd keep Rahul Dravid as inspiring model ) ;)

Also SL, enjoying the presentation very much!
