Education's Over rated?

Whats the difference between a post grad and an under grad?

I wish my school had Physical Education as a subject. Others had it, mine didn't. Got stuck with Travel and Tourism instead.

Anyways, from what I'm doing, I've got 2 more years (AS and A levels), then 4 years in an Engineering college.

After that, I would like to do an MBA (Masters in Business Association or summin like that), and get into Investment Banking.

Basically, what a sales person for a bank who visits my dad frequently told me, is that Invest Banking is pretty much all maths. I've got to work on a computer every day drawing up financial models, then present them to my clients. It's a difficult, alone and very high paying job. I like the sound of that as Maths is my best and favourite subject.

However, he said I should do Engineering first then MBA, as I need to know maths to a high level. He said the Investment Bankers he knows are actually all Engineers to start with.

Anyways, at the moment I am studying Maths CBSE style (The way they do it in India) from scratch. I've got some IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Enterance Exam study books to help me out, and I'm working my way through it. It is supposed to be much tougher than what I'll do in AS and A levels, and will help me not only get through those easier, but in enterance exams in good Engineering colleges. Plus I'm kinda interested to see what they study in CBSE and how hard it is.
Once I'm done with 12/13, I plan to sit the IIT enterance exams and try those out, and apply to several other colleges as well, and see where it goes from there.

Either way, I've got my work cut out for the next 6 years...

I think its stupid. Whats the point of knowing x +y is it just made to be difficult? They may use it in engineering but most people dont use engineering. They're pretty much creating a new subject for one job.(yes algrebra is a subject:p)
I think you should know the basic and stuff but when it gets to stuff what you are probably never going to use whats the point? Once you get to grade 8 you do a lot of algebra and this.
I think English needs to be rechecked also. Is there a need to know how to spell antidisestablishmentterrianism?

The reason for advanced maths is to show you can problem solve and can think logically. If someone does 4 unit maths in highschool you know on a job resume they are bright.

But surely they dont need to make every student like einstein. School goes for too long.

PE isn't sport though, it's about the human body. If you want to be involved with sport there are plenty of ways to do so.

What subjects do you like and are good at? For example, if you like/are good at business, then you could become a sports administrator. If you like writing, sports journalism perhaps. If you like science, then you could be a sports doctor or physio.

mmmmmmmmmm well PE is a bludge, heaps of frends are doing it, you play sports, watch and learn about (even if its the body and the way it functions)

although I very much agree, I enjoy English and Maths. Geography will be boring and PE easy.

btw has anyone done Maths, is it really tough?

I took Geography for a GCSE and it was a huge mistake. A lot of it was about water, rivers, pollution, etc. None of which I am in the slightest bit interested in. I took it to learn about different countries and their cultures. So I can only assume it stays the same at A Level so I didn't take it.

These are my A Level subjects:

Media Studies
Applied ICT
Physcology
Sociology

All of which are useful for everyday life.
