Halfway through the afternoon session: if England can eek out another 80 to 100 runs they might still be in it. Seeing off Lyon was a victory in itself.
Bugger.....Foakes gets done over by Hazlewood...again a moment of not deciding to go front or back foot and getting buggered somewhere in the middle which as far as getting buggered is concerned is the best place to be. Good little knock by Foakes and Pope is still there but is struggling to be honest.
England clawing there way to 150. Ali comes out ahead of Woods.
Wheels are coming off.....didn't matter in the end who came out first: Ali of Wood....they are both out there now......Ah just short of tea as well.....

oooh given out by the on-field umpire......we didn't review it though so no harm done except pride!
Well that little flurry of wickets at just before the end of the second session has put this test match firmly with Australia. England deciding to bat on a good surface with no uneven bounce but some grass on top. Indications are that batting last will be tricky. Batting first as well it seems. Crawley Stokes Pope and Foakes tried to muster runs. Stoke looked well set before agonisingly being run-out. That took the dynamic out of an already faltering England innings. Ali looked absolutely somewhere else at the crease and will hope to redeem his presence with the ball. Australia for there part have bowled consistently although Cummins could be accused of bowling too short and wide. Starc has fierce and threatening and Hazlewood has been his metronomic self, such a good line and length. Lyon has chippen in as well although he has been aided by some poor batting. The ground looks superb, the sun is blazing at The Gabba and we look forward to the after tea session. Australia will no doubt be batting in the not too distant future. Perhaps if England can get two or three out by tonight....but they are behind the game and the series after 60 overs.
