England Down Under 21/22

England take on their fierce Aussie rivals in the Ashes Series Down Under starting in November at The Gabba. There will be some fresh faces and some old stalwarts on show. Surely this will be Anderson and Broad's swansong on Australian soil. England have taken both seamers with them although it is clear that neither will be playing all five tests. Ben Foakes has staked his claim on the gloves after a strong year starting in India earlier this year. Moeen Ali has re-found himself during the last year, coming back strong after a long absence. Whatever happens its bound to be competitive and fierce. Will keep you all informed!

Yes a most unfortunate set of circumstances: who would have thought that two England players would be absolutely humped to death by the Giant Amazon Sloth at Brisbane Zoo after somehow getting trapped in the enclosure covered in "TurboViagra Sensual Cream: So Good It Even Makes Sloths Excited!"

Both Anderson and Broad will be heading Down Under. There were doubts about Anderson's inclusion but this past year has shown that he is still by far Englands best opening bowler and seems, like good wine, to get better with age. Stuart Broad will look forward to bowling in conditions that suit him a little more. Moeen Ali capped his positive return to the fold after a good year both with bat and ball and he seems to be back to his best, comfortable with his game and looking relaxed. Ben Foakes will keep hold of the gloves as he has done all Summer with a great showing against India in the home series, with Jos Buttler deputising although Buttler could also figure as a specialist batsmen. England keep faith with their opening pair despite some mixed fortunes both in India during the winter and the home series this Summer. But both Sibley and Burns have proved their worth as gritty and determined at the top of the order. Root of course captains having amassed a ridiculous amount of runs, at last getting rid of the "Mr Non-Conversion" tag that has has stuck to him over recent years. Stokes, the real talisman of the team will be his deputy.

A couple of noteworthy absentees: both Wood and Bairstow will be disappointed with not being included in the squad. Wood more understandable as he just hasn't recovered fully over the Summer from his foot injury. Bairstow will have thought he had done enough to at least deputise behind future star Foakes, but he has apparently fallen out of grace completely.

England fancy their chances against a rather creaking Australian team going through its own process of converting for the future and talks of disagreements in the dressing room. Once the Aussies announce their squad we will of course post it here.
