England in Australia

he will probably bowl it so short it goes over the bowlers head, hes been so erratic through the whole series, sound familiar!

Good start for Harmison (well compared to Brisbane). The extra training lessons seem to have worked.

EDIT: Oh well the optimism was good while it lasted

Didn't start of with a wide so thats a good sign. Hes been quite accurate and bowling a good line and length so far.

Harmy's back. Throat ball is the way to go.

you got your throat ball!!, then so did the square leg crowd

holy crap!! Jones is to the stumps for hoggard with no helmet! looking for the stumping as ponting bats out of his crease, good thinking

He did that yesterday for Hayden as he was batting out of his crease which is a norm for Hayden and Ponting usually is there abouts too.

its gonna make ponting uncomfortable being caught in his crease, and when he gets his big stride foward he is sort of walk towards the ball which means when he misses it he is bout a metre out of his crease so he cant do that anymore

Ponting has had half an hour so hes probably over his nervous start and we will now see the usual Ponting in action.

Thats an extremely good tactic. I think the first time i saw that was in the 2002 natwest series, Alec Stuart and Rahul Dravid were fantastic with that, with helmets of course.
I havn't really seen Hoggard play enough to really analyze his pace, is he extreamly fast, or is he 120-130?
The only downfall of this tactic would have to be that caught behinds are extreamly difficult, and catching the ball on the whole is. I did this once in my club team in India, i'm a batting allrounder who bowls some good medium-fast bowling (ganguly-tendulkar like, but not really that part time). Anyways, i've kept a fair bit too, and when our keeper got injured, i was donned with the responsibility of the gloves. I had to stand up to the stumps when our fastest bowler (who notches up to the high 100-105kmph!) was bowling in a tandem with a very "Kumble like" leggie, who uses pace and bounce to his advantage. Let me tell you that it was HARD. Anything down the leg side required quick reflexes to grab, i nabbed a catch...on the 3rd attempt  , and spilled 2. Maybe cuz i'm not a full time keeper, but it is tough. It puts pressure on the batsman to an extent, they stop prancing down the pitch at least :)

Lol, i remember in the WC 03 final, Ponting had the most shakiest start ever, and then he ended up hitting 140-odd not out :(

Ashes are really heating up, man i got a feeling that england just might nab this one again. It will be a great win though, with a seriously dented injure rigged side.

hes about 135km

Great bowling by Hoggard this morning. Has mixed his deliveries and the idea of Jones up to the stump is great. It nearly worked with Ponting skying a pull that was in the end short of deep square leg.

Agreed there hes bowled a real good line and length and kept nagging away then chuck in the short ball.
Harmy has continued his good start, looks much more better now than he did in Brisbane.
