England in Australia

I find it somewhat amuseing that Colingwood ended with better figures than a number of key, 'real' bowlers. Might aswell just play him as our 5th bowler

Just watched the highlights on the news and I absolutely concur with you. Today's dropped catch was poor, Jaques made the English pay with the century and we all saw what happens when you dropped catches against the Aussies last season where the Proteas constantly dropped catches and handing the Aussies the game.

Exactly you just can't go dropping catches, Australia did it last Ashes it cost them dearly. Don't know why the English selectors persist with him, hes been doing this for a long time now and again it was on show today.

Theres just no way England should be playing Jones. Dropped Jaques on 20 and it cost England majorly. If thats Ponting, Gilly, Hayden, Hussey... England will be made to pay again. Catches win matches and Jones just doesn't do that consistently enough.
Shhhh... Don't tell them.

Puddleduck, you make a point but I disagree, under no circumstances should a national side, even if it is their Second XI in play, lose to any side ending in XI. The team has no chemistry, no experience, and they should not win any matches against a team good enough to be playing Test Cricket.

It's a warm-up game, somehow I think i'll cope with this defeat.

Engkand never win warm-up games and they never win limited overs matches, so add the two together and what do you get? An inevitable defeat. The reaction from some people on here would think that this is a World Cup final. England got hammered in South Africa by a similar side and we went on to win that series.

If this defeat means anything at all, it's that England will get hammered in the VB series, which we all knew anyway.

But what about the ICC World XI ?? That ends in XI

Read the first post

Great to see our young guys like Tait and Jaques getting amongst the action. England looked really flat but you can't judge them from their first game on Australian soil in quite a while. I'm sure they will be a much more dangerous opponent for the first test at the Gabba. Saying that though, well done to the PM XI boys for smashing them by 166 runs :)

In answer to peoples questions as to why certain England players were playing ahead of other players (ie GoJo). Its a tour match, thats what they are for, you use them to play players you have taken that you aren't really sure about and to give other players a runout if they need match practice (ie Giles). Whats the point of taking a squad if you aren't going to try these players out. Life isnt a computer game, you cant change a player because of an injury and expect them to perform if they havent been playing. You shouldn't play your best side in warm-up games its pointless.

They were hammered in Australia too! :p

Yes, but

Bangladesh A let alone B?
Let alone pretty much every international team.

I think we all know that the last World XI team was all on reputation as opposed to form. Was a poor side, even though between the players there were thousands of runs and hundreds of wickets.

I'm only nit-picking :p :cheers
