England In India - October 2011/12

Well I don't really know what he was trying to say there. Yes, we did not beat England in WC but I think he is forgetting England's tour of India in 2008. Remember 5-0? Well that's something to note about. Well looking much forward to this series now. Even though I know English test team is very strong in comparison to the ODI team.

It'll be a tough series for both sides, they are fairly matched sides and I hope we can make use of home conditions and that we can be given home conditions on our pitches (well, we all know Lord's won't be). Our team isn't final yet, Bresnan is in better form than Broad, it's a massive selection. Rest of team pretty much picks itself.

I think India are favourites for both series. Hopefully it can live up to expectation after a rather dull Sri Lanka series.

England better beat India at Lord's. If not, I dont think they will even draw the series.

probably true. nothing to do with the pitch but india are usually crap in the first test, especially away from home. you have to peg them back when they're vulnerable, they're typically extremely strong by the time they've got the hang of the conditions, even back when they weren't the number one side.

Lord's, unless we get a sporting pitch, should be a draw. It generally gets easier to bat on as the game goes on and I'm not sure both bowling attacks will be able to get 20 wickets. It might suit India though because its certainly a lot closer to the wickets at home.

Yes, the best chance for England to put India under major pressure is to jolt them at Lord's. If they miss the opportunity, they are in for a major battle because India generally start bad and pick up very quickly and after that they are close to unbeatable. Happened twice in the last two series that we played in England. In 2002, England beat India at Lords, yet we levelled the series and didnt lose a game after that. In 2007, umpiring saved us from defeat at Lords and we went on to win the series also not allowing England a win after that Lords test.

LOL the new promotional advert for England-India is pretty cool. I' talking of the English cricket fan one which is shown on Star Cricket.

Conditions could play a factor, it's still very iffy our weather this summer, from thunderstorms to hot and humid (well relatively hot and humid :p).

I think if Tremlett is on fire and we get some bouncy wickets, that could give us a bit of an edge.

While this is a mouth-watering series, I won't be surprised if most of the matches are boring draws. The Indian attack is not good enough to penetrate the English top-order, not in the form that they're in. And considering England struggled to bowl SL out, I can't see how they will suddenly miracously do it against a much tougher Indian line-up.

If the pitches have decent spice, India can penetrate through England and pick 20 wickets to win a test most of the time. Zaheer, Ishant (in his current form), Sreesanth and Praveen Kumar (with his swing in England conditions) should be a handful in test cricket.

Umpiring with rain. Panesar got Sreesanth LBW but he was not given. That was the final wicket. After that, rain came in and helped India.

starting to understand y'alls opposition to using UDRS.

I hope India gets █████

Thats what I was saying, England who were playing in their home conditions, just leaving that last 2 sessions of first test were not able to bowl Sri Lanka out.

Here are the totals for the previous England Sri Lanka series

Highest totals

Code:
Team	Score	Overs
England	496/5d	155.0
England	486	112.5
Sri Lanka	479	131.4
Sri Lanka	400	118.4
England	377/8d	92.4
England	335/7d	78.1
Sri Lanka	334/5	104.0
Sri Lanka	184	64.2
Sri Lanka	127/3	43.0
Sri Lanka	82	24.4

So In 6 Innings only 2 innings were such innings where England could have taken advantage and took in one innings.

Rest 400 and 479 runs show they were not doing any good even if there were UDRS.

From this Friday, India will take on Somerset in their practice match. Got to know that Strauss has requested the county to allow him to play for their club so as to get some match practice....

What? That doesn't make any sense. Only twice did Sri Lanka pass an England score according to your results.

According to your scores England bowled Sri Lanka out 4 of the 6 times?
