England In India - October 2011/12

RP Singh has looked okay this morning. He's lacking zip, but he's been accurate and I think he'll pick up a wicket or two today.

It doesn't matter, because some other deserving bowler would have contributed much more.

What is it with England and the last ball before the end of a session?

RP Singh getting selected without any FC matches in last 6 months:lol
He is bowling like a part timer, he is not even fit to play test cricket currently, and he even gets selected ahead of Munaf who was chosen in the original 16 member squad.:lol

Why is everyone upset Munaf didn't play, if you think RP Singh is bad bowling at 125ks, throughout the WC Munaf was just bowling 110k offcutters. It doesn't really matter who was picked, neither really is better than the other maybe it is time for Yadav or maybe even this Aaron that I keep hearing about, they could at least play in ODIs...

Why was he picked in the original squad if India think RP was better than him? That is why people are upset, as India have showed absolutely no logic behind picking their team.

The main point here is, that if RP Singh was better(that he is not), then why was Munaf chosen at the first place in the 16 member squad?
And Munaf doesn't bowl so slow, he bowls at the speed which RP Singh is bowling in the current match with a much better line and length. And its not all about speed i guess, Praveen Kumar is our most successful bowler in the series and he is the slowest we have.

Munaf has been in the squad regularly. Has bowled really well. He has been consistent recently.

And he doesn't bowl at 110k, he bowls between 125k to 130k ,
Maybe you could have seen him bowl in death overs, thats where he bowls a lot of 110k off cutters on slow wickets.

Yeah, I don't really think Munaf should have been picked in the first place though, he offers absolutely nothing. Hes slow and puts in no effort whatsoever doesn't even bend his back, and the difference between Praveen is that he swings it. Munaf bowls straight medium pacers at least RP Singh offers something different being a left armer.

Yeah, I can understand that, their selections really have been all over the place.

Yap, that can be the reason for RP's selection. But then Irfan would have offered much more, both with the bat and ball. RP's selection over Irfan could have been justified if RP was bowling quicker and with more intensity.

England going along very well since Lunch. This is the real test for India, something like 6 rpo since Lunch, 60 overs left in the day, playing till 7pm no doubt.

If KP bats till the end of the day, 450?

Weather is improving for the end of the match btw.

I do like KP-Bell partnerships. Bell with lovely cover drives and generally looking classier than the royal family and KP being a complete brute.

Speaking of favouritism, how does Bopara keep getting back into the England side?

His experience is what got him in to this series. There are other options out there, none with experience, be it Test or ODI, really.

I don't think Ravi deserves some of the stick he gets, when he's on form he's a very good player, but he can be horribly inconsistent and I'm not sure in the long run if he's going to make it at international level. A lesser talented Mark Ramprakash if you will.

Sanjay Manjrekar is boring me to death with his commentary. Why would they choose him to represent India? He doesn't know a thing about Indian cricket.

He could have a role to play here, though. But if he got a century against this attack, would it really change much?

He could well be in a similar scenario to the last Test, albeit perhaps not 600.
