England In India - October 2011/12

there isnt anything there,

There is something in the pitch as seen by how dangerous Sharma looked with the new ball. And its spinning and bouncing. I expect India to fold for under 300 in both innings.

this is a flat pitch - look for sachin to get his umpteenth century here.

Can understand your jealousy,
finally Sachin has had a bad series in England, you have been waiting too long for a chance to say things about him i guess.

indians and their appealing.....how they wish we had no cameras...they try their best...but its just appauling. pummeled by belly. surely now the good teams should only have 2 or 3 test series against india. who wants to pay to see this rubbish team.

waited about as long as its taken sachin to score a century at lords mate - and i dont think any international player has been there as many times. so yeah...still waiting.

Batting as long as possible is the best strategy after a washed out Day 1. Even if it's a draw, I would love to see another 700 run innings by England.

What's the next test series after this?

Doesn't matter, his achievements are enough, he has handled the expectations of crores of people and given India a lot to cherish.
England players would have been out with depression if they would have had so much pressure on them:p

We will see that when England comes to India....

famous words it seems. so if england beats everyone away from home except india, india are still the best in the world? you realise you cant even drink tap water there without getting sick? you guys still believed you were better than australia after they beat you there. thing is - england have ticked off australia in australia and south africa in south africa in the last 5 years. and india have ticked off? bangladesh in bangladesh? new zealand in new zealand? did they even beat the windies at home? please. im pretty sure all of the top 3, england australia and south africa have done that. if you cant win away from home (read world cup) - you cant claim to be anything better than a team that wins at home.

Positives from series:
- Dravid back in form.
- Dhoni has hopefully realized that he should just play his natural game.
- Praveen Kumar would make a decent third seamer if India find two other good bowlers.
- Inadequacies of Sreesanth, Harbhajan and Mishra have been broadcasted for everyone to see. They have been giving average returns so they were never really god awful but finally and luckily they bowled so horribly that questions can now be justifiably asked and changes can be made.
- Fitness concerns have been highlighted and touched upon time and again. It's about time that someone took note of it. Hopefully the schedule can be worked on and the players' fitness regimes can be given an overhaul.

While a lot of the negatives are listed under positives, I see them as positives because it's good that India learns these things the hard way.

Negatives from the series:
- Sehwag has been proven to be a FTB but he is not droppable because of his reputation on those flat tracks. Selectors will be unwilling to accept it.
- Lack of conviction and patience in batting.
- Lower order collapses and tailenders not contributing anything with the bat.
- Clinical edge when on top (124-8 to 221 when bowling and 267/4 to 288 all out)
- Lack of confidence, concentration, effort, and noise in the field when other team is on top.
- Dhoni's abysmal keeping.

While everyone is blaming the batting and is calling for changes left and right, Dravid, Laxman and Sachin have succeeded in tough conditions on various occasions (Dravid has done excellently in this series too). Gambhir is good in tough conditions and just lacked match practice. He did well against the best new ball duo in South Africa. Only Sehwag, Dhoni and Raina can be dropped or questioned. Raina must be dropped. Dhoni should be given a nudge and be told to captain positively and aggressively and to go out and play his natural aggressive game when batting.

England drew the test series with South Africa 2010, and they(SA) were facing injury issues at that time, they played the last test with the full team and thrashed England, and you almost lost the first and third test and just narrowly managed to draw it,
India played against the full team in all the matches and drew it 1-1. and we did win against WI. You have just managed to win against Australia in Australia.

And in Australia, there were around 8 wrong decisions against India made in the second test which turned the series in their favour, we could have easily made it 2-1, and the Australians were a completely different team at that time, it was not like the team that England had faced and yes India was way better than them in that series.

You have been playing at home, we will see how long they can keep the number 1 ranking. Its time to go out of England:wave

Where the hell is this thread heading?

A. This arguement has been had countless times in this thread, and it has been shown that England have won more away tests than India recently.
B. Valvolux is Australian
