England In India - October 2011/12

It's ok. We tend to go in for self-deprecation and pessimism more...
Now onto lose the ODI series.

I'm finding it pretty worrying that I think we might be favourites for the ODIs what with all the Indian withdrawals and momentum.

I think I preferred pessimism.

Hahaha, I think England will take the ODI series too. Not necessarily because they are the better OD team, but because India will be jaded and deflated after the test series. I don't think they will admit it but I'm pretty sure they wish this tour was over already. However, the influx of young players who didn't play in and weren't scarred by the test series could change the mood in the camp.

Should be interesting to see Varun Aaron. Here's a fairly long video (9-10 mins) for those who haven't heard of him or haven't seen him bowl before.

143k's he must be a god in India, but then again whats one more god when you have 20 million :p

Biased to the bowler because...

If it's given not out and the bowling team reviews it, the 50% rule comes into place.

If it's given out and the batsman reviews it, it just has to touch the stumps, and no matter how little contact there is, the decision will still stand.

It's more likely that a not out decision will get overturned by the third umpire than it is for an out decision to be overturned because the chances of 1% of the ball hitting the stumps is very high.

However as a batsman you've got a pretty good idea if you're out or not, so you generally only try to review shockers. Likewise as a bowler your captain will probably overrule you unless it looks nailed on as you don't want to throw away your only two chances to review (See Strauss and Broad - These days Strauss pretty much ignores Broad constant assumptions that it's plumb ha). Now since the benefit of the doubt was traditionally given to batsman, the pitches are designed to help batsman and various other changes from limiting bouncers to having only two fielders behind leg, helmets etc I think as a bowler myself, any slight help it may offer to bowlers should be encouraged.

I can't believe anybody takes Mark's posts without a pinch of salt.

Especially because whoever doesn't, could probably use the salt for the chips they keep on their shoulders :p

He is just an attention seeking cry baby, he wants people to notice his posts and reply, he keeps on posting such stuff everywhere:lol but very few take him seriously:lol

Agree with you:thumbs its better to have DRS in international cricket, its not fullproof, but atleast its better than having no DRS at all.

Just watching the highlights. Hadn't quite comprehended that India managed to lose 7/21 on the flattest pitch of the series.

Let's tone down some of the posts in here too please. Consider this a general warning.

I know, I left work thinking that Sachin was on his way to his ton and Mishra might follow. Get home in time to catch the last session....

Got home to find myself confused as to whether there was rain, or a delayed tea. Took me a while to realise they had been bowled out. Though I've loved the fact England have been good, I think I'm mostly dissapointed that other than three sessions this never came close to the titanic struggle for Number one that I was dreaming of.
