England In India - October 2011/12

Excellent performance from England:thumbs
Completely outplayed India in all departments.
Hope they dominate test cricket for a longer run. Best of luck to the English team.

M very disappointed with the way the Indian fans are reacting,
England had planned very ball, they had much better bowlers, played with a lot of fire, exploited the conditions very well, they were way better than the Indian players. We were just outplayed, thats all, just accept it and move on.

Why blame the players? its not the players, its the management that has created problems for the Indian team, making weird selections, picking injured players(Sehwag, Gambhir, and Ishant <Ishant sustained a ligament injury to his left ankle since edgbaston test but still played the next 2 tests>), Raina and RP in the test team, no allrounders to decrease the workload of the bowlers who are not able to pick wickets at regular interval, not picking specialists even though so many resources are available, no rotation policy for bowlers,
the current management is the worst, just making weird decisions with no long term vision.

I really don't think the batsmen played very badly, the bowlers just failed to exploit the conditions. These were the same batsmen who played well against the likes of Steyn and Morkel in South Africa.

I still back Sehwag, Gambhir, Sachin , Dravid and Laxman. Its really bad that Indian fans are making fun of Sehwag, he is injured, he could have played the first 2 tests if he was really fit, why don't you point out the selectors in this matter, a player can never say no when a team is in crisis or when there is an important series. Sehwag is unpredictable, but effective, don't doubt his ability at all. I salute selfless players like him, he can easily bat down the order in tests and score much more runs but he is not doing it because the team wants him to open. There have been so many times when Sehwag has performed well and others have flopped badly.

And regarding Sachin, he has just had 1 bad series, it was just recently that he got 2 centuries against South Africa in South Africa against an in form bowling lineup in hostile conditions,
and Laxman was also excellent there, and he played well in west indies aswell.

Regarding the fast bowlers,
I think we need to follow a rotation policy for them because of the packed schedule, we have a bunch of young bowlers right now, they should be handled well and not wasted like the previous fast bowlers India has had. And there has to be an all rounder for bringing stability, no doubt about that.

The fact is that we would have lost even if we would have played our best 11 and taken fully fit players, but atleast we would have avoided the humiliation i guess.:noway

I really have confidence in all our players, they will bounce back in the next match. Don't want to see Raina and RP back for tests, Harbhajan needs a big break to sort out his bowling, there are atleast 3 spinners who can replace him easily currently, hope to see specialists for all formats (t20 included).

I have faith my team, India will bounce back sooner or later:yes.

Wow, now we're going to have arrogant England fans on PC whose only excuse will be that they're only doing what the Indian fans did before. The only difference is that they sound smart because they type in proper English. The operative word here being "sound". Maybe it would just be best for PC if SA were number 1 since we have no members from there...

LOL @ Manjrekar. He forgot Gillespie in that great Aussie attack. He knows nothing!

Just love the whitewash. Just shows the overrated ████ Dhoni where he stands as a skipper. Just love it. Clinical performance by the Poms. Have to feel for Dravid though

I must have missed this part of the series.
Well the last innings wehere he scored 90. He stuggled. But he was better than Raina, VVS and all those chaps

It would only be arrogance if we weren't the best. We are, so it's well-placed confidence.

Sachin Tendulkar, Mahatma Gandhi, Shahrukh Khan...your boys took one hell of a beating!

I see your point but at the moment it's biased towards bowlers. I don't have a better solution or any solution at all, but it is something that can be looked at, perhaps. Of course, you couldn't review LBWs in this series due to BCCI's stupidity but I'm just talking about the system in general without looking at this series in isolation.

How is it biased towards the bowler?

If the Hawkeye is inconclusive on LBW, it stays with the on-field call, you can't do it any other way, can you? No bias there that I can see.

If a batsman has been given out, but hotspot shows no edge and there's no distinguishable noise, then it has been given not out, only to be proven later by snicko that he nicked it.

Thin edges can still favour the batsmen and will do until we can produce Snicko in a shorter time span. LBWs have no bias, just going with the umpire if unclear. Unless you're referring to something else, Shravi?

System isn't perfect, don't think anyone is claiming it to be. But when you see dismissals like the Raina LBW and that could have been overturned (okay, he'd have gone several balls later but that's not the point), it's just a bit frustrating, because the system doesn't need to be perfect to get rid of the howlers, which is why the system was introduced.

As with any system, it'll no doubt improve over time.

Biased to the bowler because...

If it's given not out and the bowling team reviews it, the 50% rule comes into place.

If it's given out and the batsman reviews it, it just has to touch the stumps, and no matter how little contact there is, the decision will still stand.

It's more likely that a not out decision will get overturned by the third umpire than it is for an out decision to be overturned because the chances of 1% of the ball hitting the stumps is very high.

I am not talking about edges and hotspot, I am only talking about the LBW aspect of DRS. The rest I am absolutely fine with.

I still welcome the full DRS system though. No doubt it raises the percentage of correct decisions in the game and is more accurate than the on field umpires.

Looks like the BCCI is going have to schedule an emergency Test series against Zim to get Tendulkar his 100. Just retire already you stat hog

The BCCI should file r@pe charges against ECB. :lol

omg Yudi actually made a funny joke!

Do you actually watch cricket? Because from your shithead comments, it does not sound like so.

Well played England! Dhoni & Srikkanth needed this long time ago, but better late than never:thumbs.

PS: I still support Team India:cheers!

It's ok. We tend to go in for self-deprecation and pessimism more...
Now onto lose the ODI series.
