England In India - October 2011/12

No, I don't agree with you. In case of 50-50 decisions as these, the benefit of doubt is given to the umpire. Simple.

I don't see it as a flaw to give the benefit of the doubt to the umpire when they're that close.

Still a long way to go, really need to get one of these out for little to no runs.

Wonder where Sehwag finds ways to miss action! Absolute moron! Shoulder injury, deafness, next what? Over hyped FTB!:lol

Great innings from Sachin, sad he couldnt make it to that 100th ton. But awesome innings from Mishra, where did that come from? But can we still save this match? Depends on Raina and Dhoni. We dont even have Harbhajan and Zaheer with the bat.

Good that Aaron is picked. Rahane might not get much chances (unless someone is injured; coz Rohit Sharma, Kohli, Raina and Dravid take their places). But I expect some one to break down during the series enabling Rahane to cash in on a spot. Aaron must be picked for all games. Praveen, Aaron and RP Singh would make a decent attack in these conditions.

Innings defeat still possible. After this performance, Raina must be dropped from the test team. He should not be let to inflate his test game by letting him play on docile subcontinent tracks. Kohli can be given a longer rope. Pujara should hopefully replace Raina for the Australia series and cement his place back again.

:lol Watching a Star stream right now - Gavaskar and Shastri are complaining about the wrong decisions (Raina's inside edge). If only there was a system that was available so that didn't happen.

When Mishra and Sachin were batting and I was following on Cricinfo, I pinched myself several times to see whether it was actually happening. Yes it was, and then I turned on the TV and the bubble burst.

DRS (with Hawkeye) is crap, no matter what one says. Let the world play their own cricket, India will play its own cricket. Either suck up to us on the non usage of Hawk eye, or stop playing with us. We will survive without you, you cant survive without us (atleast not the ICC who dont have balls:lol). Improving umpires and their quality of decision making is the way to go. The ICC is BS'ing by trying to increase the poor decision ratio made by the umpires so that BCCI is sucked into accepting the entire DRS. It doesnt look co-incidental that the no. of poor decisions made by umpires has dramatically increased in recent times. Crowds at grounds used to be far more some years back and yet umpires made good decisions.

Ravi Shastri and Gavaskar (and BCCI), I support them on the DRS Hawkeye stand.

Same thing here. I just logged into the Cricinfo iPhone app and saw to my disbelief that Mishra was on 84 and Sachin was on 91. Immediately logged into the Willow live stream and a ball later Sachin was out (Mishra was already out when I logged in).:mad

Hahaha. tweaking hilarious.

This is where I have a problem with the DRS. If it was given not out and England reviewed it, the decision would still remain not out. There should be a certain universality to the system, which it's currently lacking. I am not saying that it wasn't out, I'm just pointing out what I feel is a flaw in the system.

Well, it is universal. The system is "if we can't conclusively prove the umpire is wrong we stick with the decision".

Or would you rather we have not out given regardless of the umpire's call? I wouldn't have minded if Sachin was given not out then, it was really close. Though that LBW he had from Swann that he survived...

Dhoni gone as well. Has India's fight gone?

That Raina LBW was awful tbf, still as said at the start of the series, India deserve all the bad decisions they get.

7 runs scored for the last 5 (edit, RP gone) wickets. Ouch. Just like Trent Bridge.

Innings defeat again?

The bowlers have really let India down. The whole series has been in perfect bowling conditions.

This is one of my favourite parts of the DRS. Hawk-eye is not 100%, and for those decisions where it just clips, the on-field call should be upheld.

:facepalm

If this really the BCCI's view, then why don't they try and do it? How many Indian umpires are there in the elite panel? That's right - none.

The quality of umpiring isn't that bad - Taufel, Dar, Rauf, Davies, Hill, Gould, Bowden etc... are all excellent umpires. But they are human, and will make mistakes. This is why the DRS exists - to use technology to assist them.

The ICC statistically showed that the number of correct decisions before DRS was something like 93% since its introduction its been 98%.

Its obviously the way to go. Feel free to go play on your own SaiSrini, India can't play test matches anyway.

You are ridiculous sir! :lol

Swann's pffiefer is the first against India by an Englishman at the Oval since 1976, and the first by an Englishmen at the Oval since Phil Tufnell in 1996.
