England In India - October 2011/12

Oh dear, I fear the India Fanboy backlash to the above post.

MSD not doing badly. Better than Sree :p

just quietly, england are going to rip india a new one here. england are famously useless starters in series...they have already done enough here to say they will not lose a test here. KP back in touch - look out. england have a habit of making tough wickets look relatively easy, without taking any damage. india hasn't got the fire power in their bowling.

how fat is khan? wow i made that observation long before the pom commentary team wrote him off. their second best bowler is a medium pacer who is in the conditions of his life and still isnt penetrating.

so much respect for england after they smashed us in australia. anderson...well i thought he was wicked in england and thought he was a one trick pony. but that guy has come a long way. sure he is a skinny metrosexual twat who tires his best to look tough....but he's the most damaging bowler in the world in home conditions. he proved us all wrong in aus - he's brillliant in all conditions - if only he lost the boy band look before he tried to act tough - he would gain the other players respect.

the only weak link england have is broad...and hes always been the weak link. if they could only over look him, there would be england in first...and the second would be a long way back. hes not a batsman...unless he faces the cheating pakis. flynn, while wayward in the ashes - has 300% more talent than broad and shouldve been give more time. with the south african 3/4 who are as tough as nails....and bell finally realising his potential - there's no need to have a half bowler/ half batsman / mostly cr*p player like broad.

india were only ever going to be at the top for a series or two. they spend too much time on flat wickets making records and making rules to suit themselves. they are old and finished...dravid/laxman/sachin - legendary players, but there's nothing that's come in behind them to make their success last. their bowling attack is old, fat and also at the end of their time.

first time i'll ever go for england - but they have been on the cusp for 6 years. its only taken a south african in charge to stop them from being sucked into their ridiculous sporting culture of mediocre (read soccer team) and they do deserve it. they will smash india. and i dare say....even the weakest australian team in 25 years will smash this mob when they come down under later this year.

Well I did not even bother to read your essay but just after read first 2 lines, I would llike to tell you that is the same thing with India. India are horrible starters on their away tour but they will come back really strongly after they get used to with conditions. Maybe you have heard people saying that If England does not win at Lord's , they can't be no 1 team at least by end of this summer.

Wow, reading so much bullshit in such a short space of time hurts my head. It's no wonder I stopped reading as soon as you said Zaheer isn't penetrating.

Morgan apparently though he nicked it and so walked.

Interesting, not even Snicko showed an edge (they showed a view of it from behind, where you can clearly see the noise when it hit the pad) and Snicko is pretty conclusive.

well just between you and me, i know you read it all :)

i doubt it mate - india have nothing in their bowling, and these are famous bowling conditions here. england were always going to be better facing a swinging ball though - the question is whether your guys with pumped up averages can coming off another season of flat tracks. its just my opinion they can't. and don't get offended - but the last time you played on wickets like this was in your own backyard and kasper ripped through your finest.

just an observation mate - england and india are my least fav opponents. england have more potential and its obvious. dravid is keeping - are you kidding? sehwag is my fav bastmen even when he's bashing the aussies....he's a big loss for sure. but he's also go 1 or 2 years left at his peak. if that.

england are the new world power if they can keep their hype in check - and i dare say with news of the world going down they won't suffer from the unrealistic expecations like their soccer team!

the bowlers are swinging it - but at 80mph. anderson and tremlett are going to rip your top order a new one.

I think he was referring to PK.

Edged over slips. Sigh.

MSD's doing quite okay. More control than Ishant :/

zaheer was penetrating...when he weighed 10 kgs less. he looks a shadow of his old self. is it world cup lag i dont know? like that big left hander you have as your 12th man - didnt he turn into a fatty after the 20/20 world cup.

the thing is...like england did in 05 - you celebrated a win like it was the be all and end all. and it only takes months to realise that when you play again, your title is on the line. victory doesn't last. and you are only remembered if victories were regular over a sustained period. as of yet, its short lived at the top for india....and you still haven't pulled off victories where it counts.

who knows early days in this series - but the australian attack in 09 was stronger than this indian attack, by a fair way as well. so im just tipping, having seen anderson in these conditons - that even your finest are going to fail miserably here.

Just between you and me that your last post had so much ████ talk in first two lines that I had no interest to read it further.

Everybody knows that bowling has never been India's strength. Its all about batting. At least our bowlers are doing better job then what Aussie did in Ashes, Eh? I don't care if Praveen bowls at 80 or 90, he swing way more then Anderson. And I would like to tell you that just refer to 2007 India vs England series. You will get most of your questions answered.

Sigh, and so it begins.

Bhajji not doing that well.

And that's Tea. Couple of strikes for India, but England's session again.

My bad, read the rest of it now. Agreed with what he said about England but Morgan is a potential weak link as well. Also, India's only old bowler is Zaheer Khan. Harbhajan has a lot of time left. India hasn't been on top just for a series or two. They've been #1 for quite a while now and have done it against the best. They tied a series against South Africa in South Africa. They are probably level with England and South Africa but they certainly deserve to be #1 for now. Ishant is on the rise again and while he has had a tough time in this test I think it has to do with the slope that may be difficult to adjust to the first time for some bowlers. Praveen Kumar has been on target and tireless. He struggled to find the right length on the first day but has been fantastic today now that he's used to conditions that he's bowling in for the first time. India is weakened without Zaheer but they are not toothless.

Outside Dravid/Laxman/Tendulkar they already have Raina who I have changed my mind about over the last month or so. I think he's shown great temperament and patience in his comeback to test cricket after his failures following his great start in Sri Lanka. Also, Virat Kohli is all class. He had a bad first series but I have no doubt he'll come back strong. He's too good not to. He can handle the short ball well and has a great technique. The only problem he had in West Indies was that he was in two minds whether to defend or to attack because he has been in the ODI team for so long without ever tasting test cricket. Now that he's experienced test cricket, he should know better.

Match is still evenly poised so far. Zaheer did hurt himself and India badly but PK bowls really well. Ishant once again fail to live upto his reputation which is a major problem for Dhoni becuase there is not much backup in bowling for India.
Considering the weather now, if sunshine remain on the field for tommorow as well then I can see Indian batsmen pounding some runs becuase same like the last summer whenever sunlight falls on the pitch it look damn easy to bat on.

I saw the KP dismissal review again. Hmm. Nasser (I think it was) had a good point; the evidence for KP not being out wasn't conclusive. Why was the decision over turned?
