England In India - October 2011/12

I don't know what size you call fatness but the main point is, I don't care if a fat bowler is bowling for India and he is taking wickets and is the number 1 attacking bowler for the team. If he is good because he is fat then its fine with me.

pffffttt....sorry dude but I am laughing rather than being upset. I am just used to seeing my team whooping every team's @$$es since Dhoni took over the captaincy so its its actually fun to see them getting smashed after a while. Especially after seing India win over Australia in past 5 or 6 series against them when we only lost 1.

absolutely mate - me neither. but if its your best bowler, when your team is on top.....and he turns up out of shape and goes off in the fist session of a series....you have to start to care what is happening. i see him riding the bike in the change rooms...but still. he was bowling well below his quickest. dangerous swing bowler or not - swing at 90mph is a different kettle of fish to the 78mph rubbish he was sending down. and he is highly capable when fit. but he isn't going to improve this series, not a chance. he's seen the best conditions he will see this series and made no impact. what do you have left in the kitty? not a lot from what i can see.

and you have been privvy to some good wins that's for sure - but it hasn't been for long. and it has been anything but convincing. any team can come out and escape a first test then bowl 3m outside off to bore the opposition into defeat. winning is about attacking...and england is attacking under strauss. they will whoop you - and this is the only real test you've had since taking the number 1 position. and just saying - its still the same 2-3 man team you've had in 10 years...its just other teams have rebuilt. once they have rebuilt which i believe england have - not even your elders will save you from defeat.

How hasn't it been for long? Since Dhoni became a captain, we have won all test series except one. Those test series included Australia as well. If England were really able to whoop us under Strauss then they wouln't have been whooped in the WC 2011 by the minnows. Forget the minnows, they couldn't even win the match against India which was 95% won by them by the 40th over. Now on the rebuilding, its just because your players can't last long. Its not that you don't want them in your team or they want to give youngsters a chance, they just don't got enough in them to last that long like Dravid, Laxman, and Sachin. And who will our elders save us from? From those teams who keep losing series to us one after another?

But that's afterwards. At that moment, the decision shouldn't have been overturned.

Right result, wrong procedure.

I disagree, I think the evidence at the time was conclusive for the KP caught behind as being not out. There was no sound of an edge, you could clearly see the bat hit the pad, hotspot showed no edge, you couldn't see any obvious change in seam direction or from the ball. It had nothing going for it, it was clearly not out, snicko just confirmed it after the fact.

Prior has come in and done well, big partnership this, collapsing for 300/350 would have been a disaster.

Ishant's annoying me.

Bhajji's getting nothing off this wicket.

It's essentially a 1 man attack.

We couldn't see the side hotspot, and there wasn't enough to show that there wasn't a faint edge - ie you couldn't see the gap between bat and ball, there was a sound (although the bat did hit the pad).

It seemed to me to be inconclusive, and in that case the decision should have remained as it was.

End of day three.
I reckon sometime around Tea tomorrow.

bud - WC does not equal tests does it. and im sure thats what im watching here - so far i havent seen an empty stand with foreign dancers, so im assuming this isnt the IPL.

Dravid/Laxman/Sachin = legends. and the 3 i have referred to as your 3 man team. and they sure have lasted the test of time. fark...sachin - he'll still be playing when i die no doubt. but......sorry to go on about australia...and even the west indies - they both had a generation that peaked all at the same time...all were around the same age....and they domianted for 10+ years. India from what i've seen...and they may prove me wrong but i doubt it....have taken the chance to dominate when all of Australia's greats have retired and we wait for the new top team. and i think that is england. they have a good mix of mature platers, still with a number of years to go, and some younger guys. india is old guys, and nothing. you will of course disagree - but it will take a miracle to make me think differently. ie. if a new dravid pulls a 200+ out of the bag in foreign conditions.

anway - you may prove me wrong. but these 20/20 "kings" like raina are unproven in conditions like these against quality bowlers like anderson. that's just fact. i'm predicting they are not as good as sachin and co. But we will see eh.

good WC win and all. not even australia could win at home. but we did win 3 times in a row in foreign conditions when your current stars were at their peak. but this is a challenge, from the look of zaheers ample belly......india are not prepared for.

PS bro - dhoni was made captain end of 08. so thats less than 3 years. and the one series of note was australia on home soil. i wouldnt be hanging your hat on that. it cant be that impressive....since theres no mention of his record on wikipedia :) beat us in down under and then he's a hero. like dhoni a lot for sure. but 2 years of winning...but how many of those were away from home...and against who? and as you said, its not even undefeated....is hardly something that will be remembered. but your team can still prove me wrong. but really - england are a rung above you i reckon.

Once England survived the testing Day 1 with all that gloomy conditions and once Zaheer went out of the first innings bowling attack of India, this was completely expected. I even expected Trott to add another century but Kumar did a good job of not allowing that to happen. Now the only hope is for India to not face a batting collapse and push this match towards a dull and boring draw so that we can resume hostilities in the 2nd test (from where India should definitely improve, and also many of England's former players are seriously trying to induce the fiery determination within the Indian players by talking rubbish:D).

I thought Dhoni bowled well and almost got Pietersen out. Praveen has bowled his heart out in this match, and sadly the support he receives from the other end is non-existent. Sharma has had a bad match so far, but I guess that's due to the change in the conditions (from WI to England). Hope he hits his straps soon.

Great impartial post is that.

No, really.

I think it's just that's he's inconsistent. No excuses for it, he needs to go back to domestic cricket or play some country cricket. PK had the same condition change and he's done brilliantly. MSD has barely ever bowled before and still maintained a more consistent line and length than Ishant has.

Well, the only reason I am bringing in the WC is because of the batting performence and we all know that the new tests players will come from the ODI squad once the seniors retire. Your points are rediculous as you are just saying that India is number one right now because of their seniors so what is wrong with that? England is good because of Strauss, Trott, and Cook. So? They are still the players of their teams. They are suppost to make their teams good and make them win. If you are just saying that India is nothing without their seniors then you have a point to Strauss, Trott, and Cook and this is because they are in good form now. Form comes and goes...so when they are out of form, England is crap? They will just crumble to the crap bowling of India. India looked unbeatable a year ago when Gambhir was in form of his life with 5 or 6 hundreds in a row. That didn't mean we were never gonna lose test series. The thing that makes India number 1 is their ability to come back from a dead game and get a win from it. It has been proven many times but what does teams like Australia and England have? Ability to lose a perfect won game.:D
