England In India - October 2011/12

hahahahhaha, thats funny dude. Not heard that saying in a long time a good one. Yes i love to watch all cricket from good teams. I like to watch the indians play and the english men also. I dont like to write to much into sites about teams but the other 2 made me laugh so hard i had to. Im not trying to sound rude just want a friendly cricket talk about to strong sides playing test cricket.:thumbs

First of all those saying India are miles better than England vice versa, sorry guys your both talking rubbish. No one is going to thrash any one. Eng, SA and Ind are all pretty much on equal footing at the moment. Eng and SA will always have the edge in batting while India have one of the best batting line ups ever. None of these superb trio of teams can claim to be a great cricketing side...not yet.

As for the second day of play, I would say I was a little awestruck by KPs innings. He was calm, subdued, aggressive when he needed to be and that little arrogant flair was back. I have seen 3 KP centuries live and quite a few on TV but this has got to be one of, if not his best. 200 runs and he made a top 10 ranked bowler, Ishant Sharma (I know I can't believe his ranked there either) look like a little, domestic level wibbly wobbler. Kumar balled very well to the left handers but was consistent, rather than spectacular. If Zaheer Khan can't come back, India are in big TROUBLE.
Day 2 to England. India need a mammoth batting display on a pitch which, as usual, will get flatter.

what ever you said is true. Neither india nor england and SA can dominate the World cricket like aussies did. But now i would say all three teams are equally good.

Harbhajan is a big worry for us now, he's not only going wicketless but giving easy runs to batsmen. Started quite well but since the drop catch he's just been catching up. Anyways Mukund and Gambhir should give India a decent platform tomorrow, track looks a little flatter than the 1st day with odd ball swinging or keeping low, so we should also be able to post a similar score. It will be interesting to see how Swann goes, finally the best spinner vs the best batting lineup against spin.

Welcome back to form KP, he sure loves performing on the big stage. Nice reward for Kumar and his tight bowling, the big problems are Harby and Sharma. These are the two bowlers that should be getting wickets on any track.

Harbhajan is a liability and is just surviving on past reputation. They'll just use the excuse that form is temporary but class is permanent. How long can you carry a potential match winner that is only that? Potential. He's supposed to be in the best phase of his career right now but he's just been going in a downward spiral. Then there's the excuse that he's unstoppable when he gets a wicket early in his first spell. Okay, that's all fine and well, but what if he doesn't? Do we just wait for the next innings? The next match? The next series? When does it end?

mmm seeing Harbhajan is a little sad, he can be so so much better but how long does India rely on " may be now" . Then again, that all changed if he gets 4 or 5 wickets net innings.

I would say Harby is a bigger worry than Ishant. Whenever Ishant pitched the ball on the fuller length, the batsman were confused about his swing because Ishant was swinging both ways. Even though the out-swinger was not as good as the in-swinger. I have no clue why does he always try to bowl short.

Bhajji, I don't know what happened to him. This is a serious concern for India. because he has been terrible by not picking up wickets and also conceding runs at 4 runs per over. I think its time to either drop him or give him some rest. And did he forget how to bowl doosra?

Exactly this is what I am trying to say for 3 days but some khuckle heads just don't get it. They are all strong sides but India are just little better at the moment because of their dominating batting and of course their number 1 ranking.

Now on the series, I think Bhajji needs to think about retirement. Because of his form, India is struggling alot. Instead of him, we can have a spinner like Mishra or Ashwin. Ashwin is probably a better choice as he doesn't get smacked as much and can also pick up wickets.

Define 'good'. I've always found that his inswinger does a lot and never achieves anything. He not only pitches too short, but also angles it in. These both can exaggerate the appearance of movement with respect to effectiveness and make it improbable that a ball will hit the batsman in line without going on to miss the stumps. If he wants to keep doing that, he should always have a short leg. Otherwise, he's got to start bowling yorkers.

On the other hand, any away movement he can get will open the batsman up. Ntini was another bowler who did this well. His leg cutters do threaten to shave the edge, even from that ridiculous length. If he can get the length right, even gentle outswingers might even be a better chance of a wicket.

KP take a bow. This should be his best innings considering he subdued his aggressive intent and played a very mature knock. Ishant Sharma was rubbish. PK was brilliant. If he had support from other, he would have been a lot more lethal. I can't say much about bhajji since the pitch has nothing at all for spinners. Even Murali and Warne would have struggled. Also I did not see a single doosra from Bhajji?
