England In India - October 2011/12

All three players with illness and injuries are the players who are returning back after a break (Gambhir, Tendulkar and Zaheer). The most disappointing one has been Zaheer whose fitness management needs to be questioned. Why didnt he bowl in the 2nd innings in the Somerset game? What was the need to shield him away from Strauss when it was more important for him to get the flow going? Gambhir and Sachin can't be questioned.

Agree with Ganguly there. Bring in Sreesanth for the 2nd test in place of Zaheer, and bring Zaheer back into the warmup match after the 2nd test and then ease him back into action for the 3rd and 4th tests.

Done and over. India loses this match

India can still chase this target becuse after good batting towards the end of the day, they have just left themselves to chase 378 which isn't that bad at all. They have only lost Mukhund whose wicket was going to fall anyways because he isn't that experienced yet and isn't expected to play that big of an inning but Dravid and Laxman are still at the crease and when they start tomorrow, they will start fresh which means they will start all over again chasing the target but this time it will be 378 instead of 458. They should just think they are chasing 378 instead of 458 because they need a positive mind set for this and if they think about a smaller target then it will not worry them as much and will have less pressure on them comparing to the one when thinking about chasing 458. We still got Sachin to come, then Raina, then Dhoni so we can still keep a hope that this batting line up will chase down this taget. Also, lets not forget Gambhir and he might bat if he is ok. Don't give up that soon :D

I would not go for win at this moment. My first target would be draw and even before that if Dravid and Laxman can bat through the morning session without getting out than you can think about chasing the target. IMO though I would not like to go for the target. Draw will be ok for me

I would be delighted if we draw this. Its still a wicket full of runs although the England bowlers are getting swing and movement. Dravid and Laxman are key, if they stay in there till tea, we should be good.

Dravid and Laxman will start off very slowly tomorrow. They are just not the kind of players who will go after such a mountain of a target. Their intent tomorrow is going to be to save this match. We dont have a Sehwag down our order who can go for his shots and slice the match open (Dhoni of the old days is that kind of a guy but that is if he decides to be aggressive which he is not interested in doing anymore). Raina wont go on the aggressive mode because he does not want to risk himself getting out and putting his place in the team under pressure.

Chances of victory without Sehwag is next to nil. Hell, chances of draw is by itself remote here.

Done and over. India loses this match

Lets wait. I have hope in Dravid and Laxman. Also remember last time at Lords in 2007, Dhoni scored a 90 odd and along with bad weather and a dodgy LBW decision, took India to a draw. This pitch is not devilish and tough and survival and run scoring is pretty easy if he are decent enough.

Would have liked to have got another wicket, for me, there are two big factors:

What happens with Tendulkar and Gambhir? You'd guess Sachin will bat, can Gambhir even hold one?

The first session. Massive.

Given the pitch, I won't be disappointed with the draw as long as we bowl well enough. Broad is still looking good and there's something there for Swann.

The Indians only have themselves to blame for the injuries - World Cup then IPL then West Indies then England with no break means people WILL break down.

Off to see Day 5 of the game tomorrow; free if I can pass as under 16 :D

Gambhir Sachin both will play. Sachin can play after 2 PM of the test that is after the first session.(Only if 5 wickets dont fall) :p

What about Dhoni? Commies were suggesting that India were below the over rate, if he faces a ban next game it can't get any worse for India.
