England In India - October 2011/12

Bang on. They can take our place in ODI's, they can take your place in Tests.
Wonder how many will get the sarcasm there.

*eats puddleduck's chips.

I think the chips are getting on you. We haven't lost any Test series that badly except the England one as England have lost the ODI series in recent years.

2002 : 6-1 against India
2007: 5-0 against India
2011: going for 5-0 not surprisingly against India

You guys lost to Australia 6-1 both times after Ashes series recently.

Give me one series except England that India got humiliated like that in recent years.

So first try to win a test series in India and then have your chips.

We're absolutely happy [England beat India] because we want cricket to grow in England.
Rajiv Shukla, the new IPL commissioner, says England have lost a lot at cricket and football over the last 10 years and needed to win something

Judging by the fact hardly any English posters have posted in here the obvious conclusion is we aren't really bothered. Even before the series there wasn't any English supporters posting.

Yeah, I remember when the test series was on. The only people commenting were Shravi and Sobi (:lol). They only care about T20s and ODIs.

If you guys don't believe Tom and co that English fans don't really care about ODIs then look at the T20 and ODI series in England. The England fans were outnumbered by Indian supporters for each and every single game.

"Tom and co" Sounds like a rather good business name for a haulage firm. Sureshot can be a driver, puddleduck can be our PR man, barmyarmy can deal with lunches and Sai can be the cleaner :D

Great game of cricket today after so many days. England started off wel but then Indian bowlers came back hard but not enough to keep them under control. I thought they were going to go over 300 but got only to 298 which was a descent score. Then I didn't expect the hosts to chase that down but I was wrong. They puled it off and what a win that was. Dhoni is looking like he is back in form and Rahane finally played the inning of his life so far. Lesson to learn from this match for both teams:

India:

-bring in Varun Aaron in place of Yadav
-batting is the key to win for this team so if batting fails, team fails

England:

-cannot play spin at all, can show resistance against them but can't handle them for too long although Peterson and Trott played well including Samit Patel
-A big worry if Sehwag, Sachin, and Yuvraj comes back into the team because newcomers like Rahane are scoring 90s against top class bowling :facepalm

"Netherlands defeated England in T20 World Cup". "Ireland and Bangladesh defeated England in World Cup". I see why England fans don't care about ODI's and T20's now. ;)

I can go on about how you celebrated your first tournament trophy i.e T20 World Cup but I won't. Who gives ???? you care about it or not. Let Indian fans enjoy win and stop posting if you don't care. It's simple.

Look, India got thoroughly outplayed and we all know that. I don't think it's a secret to anybody. But everytime England loses, their fans here on PC say "Oh, we didn't care about the series in the first place. We weren't even watching." It's just a little opportunistic for me. As for the Indians, be humble in victory and in defeat. Also, why do people bring up the 4-0 whitewash in the test series as a counter-argument to this 3-0? TWO DIFFERENT FORMATS! The ODI series was well contested and well fought in England and if it weren't for rain it could (operative word here being could) have gone differently. Even so, the teams were very evenly matched.

Anyways, moving past the garbage posted over the last few pages... I haven't been watching the series as I don't watch ODI matches outside the World Cup as they don't really seem to mean anything to me these days. I think the future of cricket could lie in Test and T20 cricket alone. However, I have been following the scorecards on Cricinfo and am happy to see Jadeja doing well. As some of you already know, I'm a bit of a Jadeja fanboy.

ESPNcricinfo: Umesh Yadav was injured while fielding yesterday and is likely to miss the rest of the ODIs. Varun Aaron should get an India debut.

I hope he get chance now..

Doesn't seem hard to do when one country has a population of 1.2 billion and the other has 50 million. And after India's world cup success, it's no surprise to see their supporters out in full force.

Looking back over the last few pages of this thread, there's just as many posts by English supporters as there are by Indians. Quite surprising when they don't care and are outnumbered 24:1.

Rahane's one match performance? Last time I saw, he did well in the ODI's in England and the T20 game. He should have got his hundred today, but still that was a fine innings.

I was actually referring to this series, in India. There have been 3 matches played and he has performed in just one and that too on a flat batting pitch, considering his performance in the England ODI's, where 2 matches (?) were rain washed, he did really well. Although we were chasing a big target yesterday and I'm not taking anything away from him but as he's playing in his home conditions, I expected him to play the way he played in England although according to me, considering the Indian team at the moment, where you know that Sachin and Sehwag are sure to come back in the team once they are fully fit. I feel 40's and 50's are gonna do no good to one's place in the team but Rahane hasn't been given enough chances yet so it's too early to say. What my point was, Rahane failed in the first two matches but scored in yesterday's match but failed to make century and until and unless he plays those big innings I really don't see him doing any good for himself.

Dude, Unadkat is not even in the squad. It's Sreenath Arvind. Surely agree about Varun Aaron. Wanna see him in place of Umesh Yadav in next match and Manoj tiwary in place of Parthiv Patel

Haha, yeah sorry for that. Arvind it is, we've seen him play in IPL and CLt20 but I've personally seen very less of Aaron. He's a fast bowler, that's what makes me excited to see him bowl. :)

Didn't take long for someone to miss the sarcasm. I am impressed.

Disappointing that Woakes has had to be ruled out, he's the sort of player we need to be giving games, not Bresnan, who does a bit here, a bit there, but nothing really match winning.

Australia won two in the recent years in India in ODI series. It wasn't so humiliating, but it was enough.

4-2 wins both times in a 7 match series.

But still, Australia did not win very much convincing. So your point is agreeable to an extent.

And that was a poor comment from Shukla. Look, they're at top. In soccer, they have not yet won anything major but they have improved now. If he refers to the last 10 years, then it was includes the golden age of football where England had the gem of a team. They were only not properly utilized at that time.
