I was just looking through the scorecards of the England Lions t20 tour to the UAE. 3 standout players. Dawid Malan scored lots of runs opening the batting. He also bowled some handy leg spin if his figures tell an accurate story. I've always been a big fan of his on all 3 formats and would like to see him get a chance. Sam Billings also scored a lot of runs, but he's already guaranteed his spot in the WC squad. Liam Dawson had a great tour with bat and ball. He may have put himself in pole position in the left arm spinner all rounder role, ahead of Patel and Ansari.

Other players that had decent tours were Jake Ball, Jamie Overton and Ben Foakes. I'd imagine they've all got a future with England. Especially Overton who is rapid.
So many fresh faces. This is going to be awesome.Jason Roy already have played a game against India in Rose bowl t20. :)[DOUBLEPOST=1450870229][/DOUBLEPOST]Now i think England can make it to the final if they can score runs and take wickets on UAE soil they will definately have a good time in India playing t20.

Interesting that Broad has been left out of the limited overs squad for SA. I know Bayliss isn't ruling him out of the WC but if he's not playing in the games immediately before it, I can't see him going to be honest.

Think they want to save him for as long in tests as is possible, he will be leader for years once jimmy goes, which may be sooner than we would have liked

Something has clearly kicked off between Bayliss and Plunkett. Left out of test squad in favour of Jordan and now not in one day squad. The guy bowled brilliantly in UAE.

The word is that his work ethic in training isn't that great.

Jordan is not a good bowler in my view.He don't have much swing nor does he have pace.In my view harry gurney is the guy.He must be in the playing xi.

I see Pietersen and Lumb are scoring runs in the BBL. KP isn't coming back, but I wonder if Lumb ever will. Did well when he played for us in the past. He is nearly 36 though.

Luke Wright scores another Big Bash hundred. Amazingly he's nowhere near the t20 squad. Great depth.

To prove the point, this is a squad of players that are eligible for England but won't go to the WC

1. Luke Wright
2. Tom Westley
3. Kevin Pietersen
4. James Taylor
5. Ravi Bopara
6. Jonny Bairstow
7. Zafar Ansari
8. Chris Jordan
9. James Tredwell
10. Liam Plunkett
11. Mark Wood

12. Sam Northeast
13. Samit Patel
14. Tom Curran
15. Tymal Mills

That team wouldn't do too badly.

A lot of people on Facebook seem to be in favour of Wright and Pietersen playing in WC. To be honest, I have no problem with either of them playing in that format, as they're performing at the highest domestic level possible. I just can't see who you'd drop to get them in.

I was just looking at some stats, and although Jason Roy has had a really good start to his ODI career, his international t20 figures are modest. Strange, as he's made his name at Surrey as a t20 player. So perhaps he isn't a certainty in the lineup, but I'd stick with him. Really like his approach to the first 6 overs. Think he has the ability to take the game away from a team.

Another good performance by the England Lions today. There are a few guys who are beginning to be quite consistent in that team.

Liam Dawson seems to be quite good at 6 or 7 where he finishes an innings well. His bowling seems to have improved a lot also. I wonder if they'll turn to him ahead of Samit Patel in the future.

Tom Westley hasn't scored the runs that he has for Essex, but his bowling has been quite effective. A lot of my friends he should be in the England team. Think he needs to get a couple of scores in the lions first.

Jake Ball has been very consistent with the ball. I have to admit, I don't think I've ever seen him bowl, but he has impressive numbers.

Tom Curran can't be far away from a cap. He just keeps on picking up wickets. He and his brother could be taking the new ball for England before long.

Most interesting of all though is the form of Dawid Malan, who seems to score runs every time he pulls on a lions shirt. I've liked this guy for years. He's a really good first class player as well. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the test side.

Dawson is behind Ansari who got injured dont forget
I think T.Curran is behind a few bowlers, i think sam will be the better long term with his left arm

Think you're probably right about Sam, but he's only 17, so right now I'd rather Tom were in the team.

England pretty much have a pool of 8 seamers to pick from and then quite a few others in a group just behind.

Woakes
Jordan
Finn
Broad
Topley
Plunkett
Willey
Wood

Curran T
Overton J
Overton C
Roland-Jones
Harris
Gregory
Ball
Mills

Good depth.

Prefer Dawson to Ansari in one day cricket.

Agree wuth that list

Ansari is good and im biased being a Cambridge man, Ansari for TEST/ODI, Dawson for T20 would be my preference

Also Ian Bell, basically confirming he is not getting a test recall by becoming bears captain

I think he would've certainly given up on Sri Lanka series, but 3 first class hundreds and poor series' for one of Compton, Hales and Taylor, and his name will start being mentioned again. I think it's 50/50 whether or not he'll play another test. There's not exactly depth in the batting department.

One thing that does count against him is the fact we aren't playing a 'big team' this summer. 1 down in an Ashes series, with out of form batsmen and an injury- Bell walks straight back in the team. This summer, they're more likely to want to give somebody like James Vince a go.

Let's be honest, he is NOT eligibl, which is quite sad.

What had saddened me even more is that England, namely Strauss, after all this talk of valuing ODI cricket the same as tests and trying to make England a power in both fields, has failed, blowing nothing but hot air. The exclusion of Broad is a big big sign that England don't truly feel that way, teh same goes for no Jimmy in the recent past.

As I always say, in 99% of cases, your best players are your best players.
