England tour of Pakistan - 7 T20Is, 3 Tests

It hurt itself in it’s confusion moment.
Nah, it was definitely intended. They cheered when he got out. And I'm sure it's not because they have a thing against him, but even the 30K people in the NSK knew that sending him ahead of Asif Ali was a bad call to make. But apparently our team management didn't. :/

I don’t get why Khushdil is still a thing in your XI though. He isn’t going to be your rebuilder if the openers fall and he isn’t your hitter if the openers succeed and you need someone to raise the scoring rate. I assumed he was useful as a sixth bowler but he hasn’t bowled either and Iftikhar could surely bowl an over if needed.

Just what does he offer the side in terms of a role?

I agree with that.
Although i saw a stat yesterday that his numbers aren’t that dissimilar to those of other players like Mitch Marsh at a similar point in their careers, and he has shown great domestic performance.
But I don’t know how long Pakistan can afford to back him, given that he strikes at less than 100 when excluding Zimbabwe and Hong Kong.

Tymal Mills made a good point on SKY yesterday, that the PSL teams will often pack their middle order with overseas players so Pakistan's middle order players don't get as much opportunity. Multan had David and Rossouw, plus Rizwan and Shan both had great seasons. Khushdil still managed to average 25 at 180. He scored 24 boundaries in 84 balls faced, more sixes than both Rizwan or Masood who faced 431 and 346 balls. He came in and did his job because Multan were very consistent in the top order and he had two overseas T20 players who have had great years.

Pakistan seem to be missing a 3 and 4 - I know Fakhar is injured but he's an opener anyway and then they're trying fit Masood in. It's kind of the England strategy of having Malan and Bairstow - who are openers in T20 batting at 3 and 4 - but Pakistan don't play like England. So if you have a makeshift middle order coming in after 10 overs they are potentially going to eat up more balls than if they are in early.

That’s exactly why, when batting first, Babar and Rizwan need to target 60 runs in the Powerplay (of course with a pragmatic approach if the conditions for batting are a little more difficult than normal). And also try not to slow down too much in overs 7-15.

Yes, it is a good point that the middle order batters above him for Pakistan aren’t giving the same platform and security to him as David and Rossouw.
As per franchises not giving chances to Pakistani batters in the middle order, quite frankly I don’t blame them, because their job is to build the best team to win the title. It’s in the National T20 Cup where these players should be developed.
