If Smuts can actually be more than a part-timer with the ball along with his decent batting skills, he should have been in the team a long time ago instead of a washed up Duminy. The lack of a sixth bowler has been the biggest weakness this South African side has faced for a long time in ODIs. Bavuma also looked quite good in his ODI recall.

I think he is the lone player in the Proteas camp who inspires that confidence to take on the bowlers and hit them around the park. Yeah there is Rassie Van der Dussen who has been very consistent and is actually known to be a destructive batsman but for the Proteas he has been more sort of an accumulator. And the Test series recently proves my point. I think his role have been such for them.

Yeah, him having bowled 400 overs in 6 months worth of tests (more than Board bowled in 12 months) definitely had nout to do with it. Root was like a bairn with a new toy

Bowling is bad for your body anyway, never mind with is action and pace. The way he's been used so far has been stupid, but at least they're making the right noises about learning from it

Australia have been similar when it comes to Pat Cummins. They have used him badly now.

Thank God they recalled Foakes, but apparently as back-up for Buttler he should be a regular in Tests, no matter the conditions.
The trio of Leach, Bess and Parkinson is very exciting.

Tight tight game here. SA didn't win the match, England lost it.

SA's top 4 batted well with the assist of some terrible fielding from ENG. A collapse in the last three overs showed SA was one batsman short.

Roy batted beautifully, well assisted by Morgan. That final over by Ngidi was a match winner, well deserved MOM.

Looking forward to the remainder of the series.
