Someone remove that biased a-hole Ian Botham from the commentary box please.

^ The entire Sky commentary team (barring Lloyd perhaps) are pretty biased. Well biased may be a strong word, but they are a little too England-centric. Its like outside of England no cricket exists.

I'm not watching, but are England doing what they did against Australia at the Oval and just going through the motions? That's what I thought would happen pre test match.

Atherton is alright. Botham just makes want to mute the volume.

Terrible shot by AB. Brilliant by Cook and Amla, can't get the smile off my face! Luckily Cook managed to survive that! My boy got a century! He did it! He fricken did it! Well done Cook! Only took you 7 years...

Has @Markkkkk died from happiness yet? Some serious man crush he has on Cook.
Well to put it into context I've wanted him in the side for 6 months and I had to watch Stiaan van Zyl and Bavuma open before we realised they could do absolutely nothing. In all honesty he's quickly become my second favorite player (Behind the legend Paterson, who is being captained by a three year old sadly). I guess I also go brownie points because I said he should be in before the media jump on the Cook train. Think of it like how PokerAce would have reacted if Rishi Dhawan scoring 100 on his debut for India...

Think SA just ahead after the first day. Brilliant knocks from Hash and Cook. Poor shot from ab and jp doing what he also does vs offspin. Why he gets recalled and some like rossouw doesn't get given a chance only the selectors know, proven time and time again he can't handle test cricket.

Good recovery from qdk and bavuma.

Yeah, I think England will be disappointed. Looks a pretty flat pitch but we did well to recover from the big partnership, just a shame that we couldn't capitalise when we had them 5 down, with two new batsman at the crease and a new ball in hand. Still a chance tomorrow to get it right though. Should still be a pretty good pitch when we come to bat on it.

Bairstow may have to play in the number 5 position in future. His keeping looks even more suspect than I feared. Would mean Buttler could come back in, but one of Hales, Compton and Taylor would have to go.

To be honest Botham can come across quite biased at times, but if England do something wrong he'll usually be one of the first to slate them for it.

Two worrying things. Woakes is clearly not going to be the new Anderson. Anderson is blowing cold at the moment. Is this really the end nearing for him? Hope not-the bloke is amazing.

Jimmy has never been very good in SA or Aus so wouldn't read too much into yet. If he starts struggling on english pitches then there is a cause for concern .

Agree with the South Africa thing but he was outstanding in Australia '10/11.
