England tour to South Africa December 2015/February 2016

Root is indias Rohit sharma koz his century in vain
Morris sold in 9.5 Crore Indian rupees, in IPL
I do not think SA gave that many to Cronje and Kallis
For playing whole year for SA

Morris will earns for one season of IPL.

So you're saying Chris Morris is worth €1,300,000 for weeks work??? Come on.

All I am trying to say is that he got that price because he has that x factor. He has the ability to win matches with both bat and ball on his day which is what T20 format is all about. Regarding the price, there were about 3 teams who were bidding for him so he is likely to go at a higher price since they all trying to outbid each other.

I hope this performance doesn't turn Morris into anything more than a flavour of the week. He just isn't that good in reality but a solid, resilient performance for SA and more credit needs to go to Rabada and Tahir for restricting England on what looked to be a good surface, not to mention the English bowlers almost pulling the win home.

Does that count as a choke by england? Dreadfull fielding performance

Dreadfull performance from SA, won't go into duminy and behardien again have said nothing about them already, miller & rr should be in there or atleast one of them. Dreadfull from duminy especially running out and then failing.

Great cameo from morris thought.
From the English point of view, we batted dreadfully, dropped plenty of chances and still only lost because of a once in a lifetime knock from Morris. That's not the end of the world.

You don't need to update us on everything. We also have Cricinfo, you know?

If Rashid send more over , game over much more early because Ali gave lot less run in 10 over than Rashid.

What?? I don’t know what this is.
Please take your time and check the message before posting.

Hales will probably get another test series now. Probably won't open though if you read anything into Bayliss' comments post SA test series where he said he wanted to give players a good run, but perhaps not in their current role.

Behardien looks like a pretty useless player to me. I've seen a fair bit of David Miller in county cricket and he's ten times better.

Great innings by AB. Great to come back win the series 3-2 after being 2-0 down.

Pretty poor from england in their innings.

Agreed about miller. He had a poor tour of india but he is a match winner on his day. Behardien probably more consistent but I rather have miller.

So what have we learnt from the ODI series?

Alex Hales has confirmed that he's got a big match temperament. I listened to a debate a couple of weeks ago about his spot in the test side. One said that he shouldn't be in it as his first class record wasn't good enough. The other agreed it was an average record, but that his performances in t20 internationals shows that his has a 'big match temperament'. That's personally why I was in favour of him getting a test cap ahead of people like James Hildreth. Having seen him play the swinging red ball, I'm not convinced that Hales should be playing test cricket yet, but I sure as hell think he should be opening in ODI cricket for the next two world cups. He's a quality limited overs player who doesn't seem to be fazed by big crowds, TV cameras or pressurised situations. Series rating 9/10

Jason Roy did what's he's done a lot in the first game of the series and scored a brisk 40odd. However, apart from that there want a lot to speak of. He hasn't cemented his ODI or t20 spot yet(his t20 international record is reasonably poor so far). I would say he's must vulnerable to being dropped- A) because there are other openers like Vince, Malan and Wright on his heels. B) because Ali can always be moved up to open, making way for a Billings, Taylor, Bairstow or Bopara. I'd stick with him for both summer series and the champions trophy personally, as I like the way that he and Hales bat together as a partnership. 3/10.

There's not much you can say about Joe Root. The guy's just brilliant. If he's playing all three formats he may have to miss the odd t20 or ODI series from now on. Good job James Taylor is on the bench. 10/10

Eoin Morgan had an awful series. There's no getting away from it. However his captaincy was very good. He'll come good again. Certainly needs to be leading us to the next WC. 3/10

Ben Stokes still hasn't really got going with the bat in ODI cricket. He showed glimpses of what he can do in this series but didn't go on and score a ton. His one day bowling, just like is test bowling is improving. Pretty much undroppable in all formats, although like Root, he'll need some breaks this year. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't play the next ODI series against Sri Lanka. 6/10

Jos Buttler had a terrible end to the series but was fantastic at the start. I personally think he's a one day specialist (at least for now) and should be left to go and play t20 tournaments rather than win back his test place. 7/10

Moeen Ali isn't contributing with the bat at 7 in the same way that he did when he opened. It's pretty clear that prefers to face the new ball and finds clearing the ropes in the final ten quite difficult. His bowling is pretty solid in ODI cricket now and I feel a certain sense of reliability in him similar to that I had for James Tredwell (where's he? A bit unlucky not to get a mention when selection is coming up I think). 6/10

Adil Rashid looks threatening when he comes on. He's going to go for plenty of runs, but I just get the impression something is going to give when he comes on. Think he's worth continueing with for another 12 months. Hopefully that bowling average will come down from 45. 6/10

David Willey doesn't bowl any quicker than medium pace and so on really flat pitches, he may take a bit of a tonking. His best bet may be to really work hard on his batting in training and try and get himself in the top 7, if he wants to be a certainty to start. Perhaps even opener as he does for Northants. Good squad player to have though. 5/10

Chris Jordan was pretty terrible. I have a feeling that the super over he bowled has put a lot of credit in the bank. If he can bowl Yorkers like that, why didn't he bowl one in this series. I think he's a t20 specialist at best, and I'm not even convinced of that yet. 2/10

Chris Woakes was very average today, but I thought he was really good in the 4th match. Unlike in the test series, he actually moved the ball, at pace. He also bowled very well in the ODIs in the UAE so perhaps he might just be a one day specialist for England. I can't see him playing test cricket for a while. Good innings the 4th match also. 6/10

Stuart Broad showed today why he probably should've played from the start. He's England's most reliable bowler when he's on top form. We'll certainly need him in the champions trophy. 6/10

Reece Topley was brilliant. He might be the new Tuffers with the bat, but the lad can bowl. I don't think he needs to get quicker to be a success but it certainly would hurt him to be averaging more like 85mph rather than 81/82mph. He's tall and when he pitches it up he gets swing. He's also got good variations at the death. Great prospect and can see him playing test cricket in the not too distant future. Especially when Jimmy begins to wind down. 8/10

Just listening to Talksport and Darren Gough has said that KP could play for South Africa. He's a very good mate of Pietersen's, so I wonder if he's said anything.

Would South Africans want him in the team?

Who wouldn't want KP in the team ? Except England selectors.

Is he even eligible? Isn't there a qualifying period.

South Africans would be divided on KP tbh. I would love KP walking in at 5 for SA personally.
