Weather

The morning and afternoon will see grey cloud above the ground, but the forecast says it should break out into some sunshine during the evening.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pitch

The pitch looks very good for batting, but the outfield is slow - still, bat first at the toss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Toss

Indian captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to bat first, as expected. England U19 will bowl first.

5.5 overs: Mahendra Dhoni tries to attack a delivery from Steven Finn but gets a thick inside edge. The ball goes for four at fine leg.

9.4 overs: Dhoni slashes at a full ball from Finn and edges it to gully, but captain Rory Hamilton-Brown drops it.

17.5 overs: Virender Sehwag plays all around one from Finn again, but his leg before wicket appeal is strangely turned down.

20.5 overs: Sehwag plays and misses.

26.2 overs: WICKET - Ben Wright catches Sehwag out in the deep off Andrew Miller. The Indian opener goes for 73 from 79 balls.

28.3 overs: WICKET - Miller hits Sachin Tendulkar's off stump for just 3 runs! The little master didn't last long and Miller is delighted.

38.3 overs: WICKET - After plays and misses and LBW appeals off both bowlers, Miller traps Dhoni in front, just 3 runs short of a List A century!

44.4 overs: WICKET - The bowlers are causing problems. Rahul Dravid, the India captain, is caught and bowled by Rory Hamilton-Brown, the England U19 captain, for 59.

45.4 overs: WICKET - Hamilton-Brown catches Yuvraj Singh at short leg for 24.

46.1 overs: WICKET - Hamilton-Brown takes his second wicket. Irfan Pathan is caught behind for just 1.

47.1 overs: WICKET - a fantastic throw from the deep dismisses Ajit Agarkar for 7! India are faltering at the end here, but the damage is done.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

India innings: 312/7 (Dhoni 97, Sehwag 73)

England U19 require 313 runs to win from 300 balls at 6.3 runs per over

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

England U19 have a tough task then. Right, join us after the break and we will have the England U19 innings.

India ease to victory in first ODI

Arun Harinath made a beautiful half century

India won the first one day international against England U19 by 146 runs at Taunton.

Only four of the young England batsmen passed double figures as they attempted to chase down an unlikely 312/7 from their 50 overs.

Arun Harinath played brilliantly to score 80 runs off 88 balls, hitting 11 fours.

Anil Kumble took 4/43 and Irfan Pathan 4/44 but the economy figures of the Asian bowlers would not have impressed the selectors. Munaf Patel had an economy rate of 7.33, after bowling 6 overs for 44.

The next one day international is in Leicester.

India innings: 312/7 (Dhoni 97, Sehwag 73)
England U19 innings: 166 all out

India win by 146 runs and lead the series 1-0 with 2 matches left to play
