Standard Bank ODI Series
Warm up Match
South Africa A vs England
Kimberley, South Africa
Day and Night

Hello and welcome to Kimberley for this match between South Africa A and England. This is a warming up game for Michael Vaughan's England before the 7 ODIs against South Africa.
After a 4-0 thumping of the home side in the test series, England will be looking to continue their good form in the one day arena as well.
This will be an ideal match for England to fine tune themselves into ODI mode. It also enables them to give some of the other players a chance to play and be match fit.

South Africa A on the other hand have also a lot to play for. Two places are still remaining in the South African ODI squad for the Standard Bank ODI series, and a good performance here from the SAA players would give them a good chance to get those two spots.

Let us now have a look at the pitch and the conditions:

Now we know how the crucial the toss is a day and night game. So lets see what happened in today's toss:
Well, England won the toss and Michael Vaughan decided to bat first.

Lets now see how the two teams lineup for this game:

So Gareth Batty gets a chance to play in this game. James Anderson and Alex Wharf will lead the bowling attack, and England are going with no less than 8 batsmen in this match.

Well I hope England get a valuable practice before the start of their ODI series against the host.

Hope every small problems are sorted out here itself like Batting order etc.

Hope they dont take it lightly.

Yes the main purpose of this match as far as England (and I am) is concerned is to get enough practice for the ODI series. Apart from that it allows the players to get back into ODI mode, after having played test cricket for quite a long period.

As far as the batting lineup is concerned, I dont think there will too many changes, but you never know.

And yes one cannot take this game lightly. If you go to the start of this thread, you will see that England lost a one day game against Namibia. So every match is tough, and one can take nothing for granted.

England recover well after horrid start

England did very well to finish at 299-8 after getting off to a horrible start. At one stage, England were reeling at 86-6, but thanks to a 140 run partnership between Michael Vaughan and Geraint Jones, England not only managed to recover from their bad start, but also end up with a huge score at the end.
For South Africa A, Kruger bowled well with figures of 4-29, and G Bodi with 2-42. Bodi's dismissal of Bell was a treat to watch, as he spun the ball in from far outside offstump, back in to clip the stump.

South Africa A now have a tough target to chase, especially under lights.

The above match is between South Africa A and England.
Gibbs and Kallis are preparing for the 7 ODIs.

I missed those screenshots and looked right at those ODI Sqaud for SAF..:brickwall...well then it will be a easy win for England.

He he he.

Good solid performance there from Vaughan and Jones. You did well as after 2 overs or so you hadnt scored many runs.

Nice bowling from Kruger whocould be in for a call up to the a team.

What a terrific century from Geraint Jones, 73 balls, 9 fours and 5 sixes is a big achievment for a wicket keeper, well done to Vaugnie also.

2 of those sixes were off perfectly executed pull shots at full confidence. One six was a straight one that went miles, while the remaining two were on the onside, both just about making it beyond the boundary line.

B. Dippenaar 45(50) G. Batty 4-25
J. Morkel 31(48) A. Wharf 3-42

England 299-8 (50 Overs)

M. Vaughan 100(126) G. Bodi 2-42
