Watched a few t20 domestic games this year and I've been encouraged by the style of some of the play by English Youngsters. Our bowling might need a good death bowler but our top 7/8 could be very strong.

1. Hales
2. Roy
3. Vince
4. Wright
5. Morgan
6. Bopara
7. Buttler
8. Stokes

Given our test and ODI side might have a couple of poor years, it might be worth putting a lot of energy into our short format side.

Ye indeed bigred, been saying that in my private thoughts observing the Natwest. I am really looking forward to Hales/Roy opening. Could be as lethal internationally as Warner/Finch, Gayle/Smith.

In a perfect world, KP should be @ 3 of course. And when Kieswetter is fit, i think he should play as a batsman.

I know Wright has been doing well domestically, but we have seen that many times in the past - but in a England shirt he looks limited. So while i'd still have him in the T20 set-up, i'd be more inclined to have him on the bench, instead of a main XI player. Would give Stokes the opportunity to bat up the order.

With the next world cup in India, England could fall into the trap that Australia struggle with. Great hitters, fast bowlers with good pace (Finn, Meaker, Jordan) but no good spinners like the Asian sides & windies have. Quality/mystery spinners are key in this format. This is where Swann is missed.

Only spinner that has caught attention of late is middlesex - Ravi Patel England Cricket News: 'I just try to spin the ball' - Ravi Patel | ESPN Cricinfo. Others like Briggs, Parry are a bit too one-dimensional to trouble elite T20 hitters really.

Kieswetter would definitely be in my squad but I'd probably still go with Wright to start. Only because we play with 4 bowlers and Bopara and so a 6th bowling option would be a sensible idea.

Agree that spin will probably win it in India. Tredwell definitely plays for me as he's never let us down. What makes Patel better than Briggs? Seen a bit of both of them and I think Briggs is slightly more dependable.

Tredwell as i always say, is just one match away from some batsmen hitting him out of international cricket. It worries me that he remains our main ODI/T20 spinner.

Patel seems a more attacking spinner than Briggs, spins the ball bigger & risks flighting the ball, which is what you need more in T20 in your spinners - Wicket-taking ability. Briggs has Vettori-esque traits in that, he would be hard to hit, but won't ever spin out a team. This is why i say he's ok, but i one-dimensional & won't really trouble the elite hitters in world T20s.

People have slagged of Tredwell since the 2011 World Cup, but I can't remember him having too many bad games in the last 3 years. Very solid cricketer.

I agree to a certain extent, the batting looks good in places but it is far too inconsistent, we've seen a number of these players tried for England and only a handful have impressed or even come close to impressing. The bowling, with no Swann is in an even worse position. The parts look useful but as a whole the team is left floundering.

Since Australia blasted him home/away last, he hasn't done anything special, in ODIs for example. He didn't disgrace himself vs SRI recently, but he never looks like a wicket-taking weapon. In T20s internationally, he has never taken more than 1 wicket in a match.

This in the T20 setup, makes him a defensive option, which is pretty useless in T20 cricket - considering the surfeit of attacking spin options certain teams have.

Tredwell reminds me of that period when AUS were picking Nathan Hauritz. He has his board supporters, but as i said, like Hauritz - he is one blasting away from being banished from ENG colours.

Would throw David Willey into this mix also..
