England Vs Gauteng, 1st Touring Match, Sponsors: Npower

England will be putting out a near full strength squad for the first touring match and depending on how it pans out, may change to a more youthfull team against South Africa A. They may also reshuffle the order.

Gauteng won the toss with a call of heads:

England:

1) A Strauss
2) M Trescothick
3) M Vaughan (c)
4) R Key
5) I Bell
6) A Flintoff
7) G Jones (wk)
8) A Giles
9) M Hoggard
10) S Harmison
11) J Anderson

Gauteng:

1) S Cook
2) A Baucher
3) H Ackerman
4) U Abrahams
5) M Street
6) E Nkwe
7) C Eksteen
8) D Terbrugge
9) J Mafa
10) S Andrews
11) A Mohammed

The pitch looks in good condition and should turn a bit from the start favouring the spinners, and toward the end of the match spinners should come in very handy so Ashley Giles could be a big wicket taker here.

The England openers make there way out onto the field to a warm welcome, Andrew Strauss marks out his crease and his guard and prepares to face the first ball of the day....

1st Touring Match Sponsored by Npower:
England Vs Gauteng:
Day 1:
Lunch:

England:
162/2

Vaughan: 19*
Key: 0*

England have been finding runs easy on the first day of their South Africa Tour, Trescothick and Strauss both made good scores before falling to runouts and Vaughan is starting to find form. Strauss was made to work for his score early on as the bowlers kept a good line against him but he went on to make some runs in the end.

Trescothick shows the full face of the bat as he smashes one back past the bowler.

Trescothick smashed his way in fine style, anything wide was put away for at least one and some fine stroke play saw him smash the bowlers all around the ground. A catch went down on 32 when he drove straight to the man at cover point but was fumbled and dropped, after that he held his nerve and battled on to a well deserved 49 before being runout trying to steal a quick single for his 50.

Tresco drives one through the covers.

Strauss was a bit more fortunate than his partner, he played himself in, took the ones and twos and pushed the gaps whilst smashing the bad one away, a few went straight back down the ground for 4 past the bowler. He batted untill just after lunch when he too was runout for 62 when he looked like going on to make a big score.

Strauss pushes one into the gap on his way to a half century.

England have plenty of depth in there batting lineup and will probrably look to declare at the start of day 2 a few overs before lunch. There mian bowling attack will consist of Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard who will be backed up by Anderson and Flintoff. The Spinners will also play a big part and Ashley Giles will be relishing his chance to shine. The Gauteng bowling attack never looked like taking wickets and Vaughan has already set himelf to start a big assault for a high score, Rob Key joins him at the crease but has yet to score

Vaughan sends one straight back.

Yea, going at a very good rate, about 6 an over, there bowling is very very poor.

you're going on ok but the natwest stumps is not ok ,but its not your fault the need to create standerdbank stumps to make the game look like it is in south africa
