Looking forward to not watching Essex v Kent starting Wednesday. No holiday for me during this game and will most probably drive past Chelmsford while working several times in the week :(

Kent's new signing Wayne Parnell should be available, I believe he landed in the UK today. Hoping Robbie Joseph (Shoulder) will be fit too. Amjad (Knee) and Simon Cook (Back) won't be. Not sure about Azhar (Side Strain). We didn't have much penetration against Northants and got well and truly spanked by Somerset in the FPT. Not having any fit bowlers already is a worry. More positive about the batting though. GoJo will probably bat at 3 again, his 110 ball century against Northants certainly kept me awake during that dreadful game.

Could be big game for Walker, hoping he doesn't inflict too much pain on us. Kaneria arriving should be a boost for Essex. With a decent pre-season behind them plus a game against the Windies, Essex certainly should have the match practice we've been missing.

Andrew Strauss ftfw. He's in bloody good form at the minute. 95* form 98 balls at lunch. He opened with Billy Godleman, with Hughes coming in at 3. Godleman got 1, with Hughes now 37* from 77 balls. A slightly more respectable bowling line-up in this game, with Iain O'Brien playing his first game for Leicestershire, and AJ Harris also opening, who's got a decent record. The other 2 bowlers are pretty shocking though, so I expect Hughes to make another big score.

Middlesex are a bunch of clowns. Phillip Hughes is the best batsman to have ever represented Middlesex and his prime position is as an opener but yet they bat him at number 3, behind two hacks. =/

His averaging 23 more runs then Andrew Strauss in first-class cricket and averages over double the amount of runs that Billy Godleman does in first-class cricket.

But he's Australian. He's lucky to even play cricket in England because by law he should be pulling pints somewhere like the rest of the Aussies in this country.

Look at Phillip Hughes' first-class record, evertonfan. He maintains that for the rest of his career and maintains a similar average in Test cricket then he'd have to be the 2nd best batsman since Bradman, wouldn't you say?

Best batsman to ever represent Middlesex. Ha. You're not serious are you? Haynes, Kallis, Langer, Compton, Brearley, Edrich, Gatting, Fleming, Hendren, Hearne and Robertson have all achieved far more in this game than Hughes. Hughes may have a heck of alot of potential, but there is no way that he's the best batsman to ever represent Middlesex, highest FC average possibly, but he's only played 21 games, come back when he's played 150 FC games and we'll see then. At the minute it's downright laughable.

Meh. I'm right though. To say that a 19 year old lad, that's only played 21 FC games is the best batsman to ever play for a county like Middlesex is ridiculous. Sure he's got a heck of alot of potential, but at the minute he's got nothing on any of the players I mentioned above, and just shows Ben's ignorance tbh.

Anyway, onto more important things. Hundred for Strauss =D

I love it when people respond to Ben's posts like that. He clearly tries to wind certain people up and time after time they fall for the bait whilst Ben is laughing at his desk in Australia. That's why I love Ben. Great guy.

Anyway Strauss is class and all that. He's no James Anderson though.

Thing is though Matt, he's not joking. He does honestly believe that Phillip Hughes is a better batsman than all those guys. I talk to him on MSN, all he goes on about is how brilliant Hughes is, and how no-one else has achieved what he has at such a young age, and how he's definitely going to average over 50 and finish his career as an all-time great. He actually told me on MSN today that he believes Hughes is better than Kallis, because "he's never been impressed when he's watched him bat".

Hughes 99* at tea, clearly knows how to capitalise on good form this bloke! Bit like Strauss at the minute, both in superb form.

Too early say where hughes is best batman because look at Alastair Cook now . He has great debut his first season same as Hughes. But two year he have techinal bat problem. Also he only made one hundred and lot fifty it is not good enough. Possible hughes same as Cook. Personally i think Hughes will fail in the ashes because England have world class bowler jimmy anderson and ryan sidebottom (if he fit) they can destroy to hughes. Plus Andrew Strauss will look closer to hughes and know where his weakness area.

99 not out for Hughes not the perfect way to go into stumps just hope he can keep his concentration for at least another run.

Phillip Hughes racking up the hundreds in England, well not quite yet. Having played 21 games and averaging 66 at the moment is pretty immpresive though.

He is no Kane Williamson though:p

Of course I'm serious, Dan. You are just so defensive about Phillip Hughes because you know his going to finish his career as a better batsmen then Kevin Pietersen. Infact, you probably already think that Hughes has surpast Pietersen and you're just venting your frustration out on the forum because the mods won't allow you to change your username from King Pietersen to King Hughes.

Anyways, the greatest batsman to have ever stepped foot in England finishes on 99 not out and his average has almost touched 67 - What a great player! Andrew Strauss' name doesn't have deserve to be uttered in the same sentence as Phillip Hughes.
