Extremely Shocking and Baffling Decison by Murali

I am really astonished and shocked that Murali whom I rated as the ?Most Committed Cricketer in the World? has opted to play for his County rather than representing the Country at the World Cup. It is ridiculous and baffling when County games take preference over the Country?s World Cup ambitions. There is no replacement for a genius like Murali since he is very difficult to score of. He can turn the ball on any track and would be a real asset to 20 20 Team but even he has fallen to the guile of extra money. The SL Board must step in and stop this migration of great players. And the 20 20 World Cup had to be taken more seriously and not as a Novelty Sport. I was even more shocked to read somewhere that England shoulsd send a weak team purposely for the World Cup. Shameful day for Cricket really.

I know as usual most people on this forum would not agree with me since they do not like new ideas and thoughts and do not like modernisation of the game bit i always feel "Playing for your Country in the World Cup" is every cricketers dream but after Murali's decision it maybe isnt.

It is not really a shame full day, it was his decision cause maybe he does not relate to the game. New young players are more suited to 20-20.

Maybe it was mutual with the board? Maybe they wanted to try out another spinner. Bandara's quite promising imo.

People dont agree with your ideas because they are 'extremely shocking and baffling'. By modernisation do you mean replacing players with robots.

The board actually decided to rest him, because he's getting older, he needs more time of. They're monitoring how much he's bowling for Lancs very closely.
Same with Sangakarra.

Well i believe the board wanted to rewaRd its players for reaching the final and also to prepare him for the forth-coming tour of Australia.
They have an excellent oppurtunity to try out the youngster in the country now.

Some fixtures just aren't as important as others. If you can't take those chances to test the depth of your list, how will you know how deep it is, before it is too late and your rookies are drowning?

If we take your steps of modernization, it is imperative that Sri Lanka find replacements to all their current players. To that effect, I suggest they replace everyone! That way they will be able to send their strongest XV to Australia, not injured.

It's just disappointing that some don't take the 20/20 aspect of the game as serious as the others.

murali doesnt like 2020 matches, he didnt play the one v england last year rember and was interviewed by michael atherton and said it isnt his kind of game
