Features you want to see in next iteration of Big Ant Cricket

It happens, too rarely but it happens.

my first game in DBC, 2nd over, i was bowling as Vince Van der Bijl, and hit a batsman four times, twice on the head and he was wearing no helmet, no injury or "pain" animation.

a little bit of me died that day.

I have no idea how it got broken, but it did. It does happen and the commentary reflects it but it is far too rare. Will be fixed for patch#2.

I hope all the 11 players don't turn into Neymar after that patch

It was good to see the off stump uprooted on a fierce fast delivery,,,for cartwheeling and uprooting to happen, the ball needs to hit the base or lower part of the stumps...so just bowl full, fast and straight :yes

Changes I want to See

Nothing I m mentioning below is meant to say that the game is not good..its damn good for a cricket game . Few changes I may suggest after playing it for 10-12 days .. I am focussing more on the gameplay .. not much on the graphics , play modes , career etc..

1. Field Settings
- AI can not have silly mid off , silly mid on , and a slip when its a t20 or an ODI and batting side is going well . Similarly you cant have no one at midd off + long off when spinners are bowling and this list can go on .. ...
- Editable Preset Field Settings ( this can also solve the point mentioned above to an extent)
- We must be able to see where the fielders are , its really really difficult to see where the boundary riders are and specially annoying to check the field with that 360 degree view everytime before a ball is delivered
- The fielders need to stop sliding / diving every single time they have to field .. Mostly it should be a normal bend down pickup and throw.

2. Batting
- till the PRO mode at least there should be an auto frontfoot/backfoot selection option .. I have been doing good at the PRO level batting and scoring close to 280-300 runs in Odis , but still I am playing too many similar shots and have to premeditate a lot and after some time it kills he fun. If I only have to worry about the direction then may be it will be better ..
- AI batting is really really bad , even at PRO mode I can get them out very very cheaply not because I am bowling beauties , but he AI keeps playing lofted shots when not required ..over aggressive
- AI's stupid running needs to be fixed. at times they run them selve out by running when the ball goes straight to Mid off in the circle , at times they dont run when the ball does straight to a deep fielder..

3. Bowling
- No complains as far as human bowling is concerned.. its the best bowling system out of all cricket games .. One complain is you cant see the ball spin / turn much
- The timing window in the PRO mode is a bit narrow , it should be expanded and with AIs batting becoming tougher it could be a real good challenge to get sides out or restrict them below targets

Havent played a two player ( human vs human ) game yet , so may be All the flaws of AI can be compensated thru that

Firstly I am very happy with how the game is in general, a few things I would like to see are:

When you're picking your team instead of the bat/bowl/all rounder icons it should show what they bowl (spin, pace etc ) and how they bat ( precise etc ).

More stadiums per nation ( doesn't have to be licenced as some of the generic stadia are fantastic). Including some small club grounds.

I haven't played career yet so I can't comment too much but from other members feedback I think to start career on say amateur in either 2nd XI state, or club cricket and have to earn your place in state side. Also your pro career could finish before 20 years if you just don't make the grade meaning you go down to the 2nd xi and even back to club cricket or retire. (It might be fun to try to get yourself back in the state side)

Definately get another couple of commentators on board but keep the original guys so as to widen the amount of commentary available.

If not done in a patch definately sort out the super human fielders.

And finally as mentioned by others the ability to play the game on different levels eg bat on amateur bowl on pro.

I have to say overall this is far and away the best cricket game out and I have been really enjoying it. There is so much in the game that its hard to pick faults, apart from the steroid laden fieldersm, generally its fantastic. Definately got my cash ready for DB15!!

Additions and changes

2 weeks later I am still loving the game, but there are a few things that could be improved.

Some in-game batting timing feedback for lower difficulties will greatly improve the learning curve. At the moment, if a new player is mistimes a spinner he is going to struggle to rectify it without going to the nets.

Field placements -
click and move players to new position, using the lists of positions for this is tedious. The ability to set and save custom fields while playing would be great. Better defaulting when a new bowler/batsman comes to the crease is also needed.

Minimap of the field - Too difficult to judge running.

Bowling indicator - while the colour(red, yellow, green) indications for length works well, I personally find the line indicator (half circles) pretty much impossible to pick up in time.

Small gameplay tweak - I think batting timing for fast bowlers is a bit early, feels like you can't time a ball perfectly without preempting.

So to sum it up, I think you guys have done a great job but it almost feels like you need one extra ux/ui-design orientated person to focus on in-game stuff.

a save and continue option. Since saving was invented, has there ever been a game which has FORCED you to quit playing to save it?!

And the ability to turn off autosave in career mode would be nice. Not everyone likes being professional batsman and averaging 0.25 because the are AWESOME at missing straight half volleys :(

I have no idea how it got broken, but it did. It does happen and the commentary reflects it but it is far too rare. Will be fixed for patch#2.

Cartwheeling stumps a la BLIC 2005 would be a nice touch as well. Other than fielders uprooting the stumps, haven't seen a bowler do it. Even a 140 kph thunderbolt clean bowling a batsman doesn't do much other than drop the bail off as if the ball grazed the stumps.

It happens, too rarely but it happens.

I got hit in the ribs and my batsmen kind of flinched. It's something I hadn't seen before. I didn't have commentary on so I'm not sure if they said anything. Is this what you mean?

They flinch, the head can go back, they walk around a bot dazed, depends on where they get hit.

There is a bug where the commentary kicks in but the animations and subsequent injuries are not having effect.
