Features you want to see in next iteration of Big Ant Cricket

If fast bowlers were to be normal fielders, just imagine how many straight driven boundaries every one would have scored. I think straight driving is perhaps the easiest shot against pacers in the game. May be they made superhuman fielders out of quickies to counteract that.

But it took the straight drive out of the game. I haven't managed to hit one straight drive past the stumps at the non-striker's end. Bowlers stop every shot 6-8 yards either side of them. Maybe bowlers' "sphere of influence" could be reduced to 3 yards and we might start seeing a few straight drives.

Yeah like I said in my other post they are the "Great Wall of China" in the game, can't go past them....:p

Its irritating sometimes as they stop shots which come off the middle of the bat....And literally he flies and catches it...:noway :mad

I think the bowler does not finish his action as he should. The momentum should carry him off the pitch opening up the straight gap. This however will mean new animations that can not be put in via patch so maybe we have to forget the straight driver for this iteration.

Yup. The only straight drives I hit were in the nets where I managed to hit the stumps as well. Can only dream of such a scenario in the game as bowlers protect the wkt better than goalies protect the goal in FIFA 14.

Shouldn't the bowler stopping straight drives be a fix in patch 2 or 3 for this version, and not a feature in the next version? I feel many are confusing bug fixes with feature requests here.

that is a valid point, hitting straight drive is a technically difficult shot to play in cricket but in game you had to push two sticks at right time to play it so they might have counteracted it by increasing bowler's sphere of influence to balance the gameplay.

Here is my list of what should be in next DBC:

Batting:
  • Variable shots when playing in same direction
  • Traits (Helicopter shot, dil-scoop, reverse sweeps)
  • Aerial sweep/reverse sweep shots
  • Techniques and stances that vary across all players
  • Techniques and stances that have strengths and weaknesses (For example, Chris Rogers has a technique in which it is hard to play aerial shots but ground shots are better).
  • When non-striker, to set what mind-set the other batsman is in (Agressive - Go for win quickly, defensive - Go for draw).
  • Edit bat properties (Size, edge, profile etc.)
  • Custom, variable and better celebrations for reaching milestones
  • When hit by bouncer, a possible loss of confidence or injury
  • Option to take helmet off during spin bowling (If the point above applies to next version of game).
  • Drinks break (Reduce fatigue)
  • Specific drills to improve aspect of batting in career (Like EA sports UFC where practicing punches on heavy improves punches).
  • Ramp shots, flicks on leg side and shots to third-man should use pace and not be over-powered.
  • Able to hit ball softly for quick single.

Bowling:
  • More variable actions
  • Injury to fast bowlers for overuse
  • Not every fast bowler should be able to bowl 150+ km/h
  • Medium pacers shouldn't be ridiculously slow (Slower ball is around 70!)
  • Variable celebrations for wickets and match-winning wickets.
  • Practice for bowling in career.
  • Specific drills to improve bowling (E.g try and hit a target for a number of balls using in-swing).

General Gameplay and Other:
  • Better T20 atmosphere (Music, cheerleaders etc)
  • More kit customisation
  • More stadiums
  • Co-op mode
  • Better commentary
  • More commentators
  • Show moments between deliveries (Batsman kneeling down after being hit by bouncer)
  • Game face for making players?
  • Make custom bat brands on specific website and then render into game (Like skate 3 does with logo design for board and clothing).
  • 3D crowds (especially with PS4 and Xbox One)
  • Realism with crowd numbers (Less at a sheffield shield game and more a ryobi cup match).

These are just some things BA should take into consideration into the next game since we wouldn't be getting it any time soon. With the introduction of next-gen consoles, I look forward to what Big Ant has to offer.

P.S. PLEASE, get licenses from ICC! :)

I'm really happy with gameplay, which in my opinion on requires 'tinkering' in certain areas. However, in order to take the game further I would love to see more focus on the 'career' mode and in-game statistics.

It is clear that the introduction of a career mode has been well-received, and now BA should look to put more detail into that game mode. Some examples may include:

  • A briefing of the match situation as you head to the crease
  • An indication of bat/bowl form across various formats
  • Consequences of poor form with the bat: more net practice - dropped down order - dropped from team
  • Consequences of poor form with ball: more net practice - given less overs - dropped/no overs if all rounder
  • Reward for good form - starting innings/overs with good confidence, moved up order with bat, given new ball if bowler
  • Such messages could be delivered by captain/coach
  • If 16, potential to grow physically over time
  • Notification of milestones in-game: 500/100 season runs- 1,000 fc runs

The above list relate to the individual's 'career development' features. Here are some other aspects I think should be included in the overall framework of the career mode:

  • All squad players develop, age, gain/lose form
  • Teams are selected based on a number of factors: FORM, pitch, unavailability (injury/int. selection
  • The career player has to earn selection and roles requiring responsibility (new ball; number 3)
  • At the end of each season, transfers between clubs are made (similar to the system on cricket captain)
  • Older players retire, new generated 'youngsters' are then added
  • You may have the opportunity to move clubs if they offer you a better team role- or move up a league

There are loads of little features above that could be added to the career mode to give it a more realistic feel and long-term enjoyment. In addition to the career mode development, I woulod love to see a wider range of statistics throughtout the game. I love statistics.

It's just a small tweak but it would be great to have more of those exp point badges you get during games. it's super barebones at the moment it seems it doesn't always give you exp for a good performance because of the limited criteria, it also seems capped as there is no badge for 10 wickets in an innings or more than 10 in a match, so with the current system you could get 10 wickets for the whole match or you could get 15 wickets including 10 in one innings and get no more exp reward. Also when it comes to batting it would be great if it took into more things about your performance, for instance strike rate, you could get a badge if you exceed a certain strikerate over a min number of balls. Also when it comes to the existing badges for getting a 50 and century they're should be different levels of reward for the speed you achieved it in, a 100 ball 50 should give less exp than a 22 ball one. This could also work for an over say you smash a bowler for 20+ in an over that should be something, also the number of 6's and 4's you score in an innings should be taken into account.

Similairly in bowling have things like economy taken into account, obviously this will be different for each format but it makes sense to reward you for tidy bowling. You could even have special badges for removing an opener for few runs or breaking a big partnership.

Also it would be great to have contextual performance badges which basically means stuff like top scoring, taking most wickets etc. if it's a really tough game and your team gets out for 100 and you score 49 of those you should get some exp for contributing, same for wickets if take almost all the wickets for your team in a limited overs match you should get rewarded. This could probably be more advanced too,say if I come in with a an over to go in a t20 when my teams on a low score and smash a quick 30 to get my team to a defendable total or I come in with the team being like 20/4 and i rebuild the innings, with the bowling it could be things like getting out the set batsman/ exposing the tail when they are nearing the chase total or bowling dots balls when my team really needs it to get the req runrate above run a ball.

Hopefully the next game will feature some sort of expanded exp badge system it's not very satisfying having a really good performance but not gaining exp because you didn't meet the narrow criteria, say in a t20 match you take 4 wickets with a low economy and then come in with 3 overs to go and smash 40 off 12, with the current system that would give you nothing even though that would be considered a great performance in real life.

The XP aren't actually useful for anything, are they?

A pitch radar,great game btw!

So, instead of venting and filling the boards with foul language, I think I'll make a constructive post instead.

I'd like to see the umpire's fallibility being a toggle switch - so I can damn well turn it off.

Just got given (in FCC, so no review available) LBW. Right armer, bowling wide around the wicket. So it pitched outside leg stump. Hit me outside the line of leg stump - and came off an outside edge.

Pretty sure that's the worst umpiring decision I've ever heard of. P Reiffel - is that the guy that used to bowl for Australia?

So, yeah, I'd like to be able to turn off the umpire fallibility.
