Anyone watch this? AEK 5-3 Sydney, Rangers 2-1 Blackburn today. Had an absolute blast. Rangers fans next to Sydney fans did not work at all. But it was damn fun. When there was about 150 rangers fans for their match, and 20 sydney fans left (in the supporter areas), we put up a celtic jersey and started singing for celtic. Rangers fans went nuts.

Anyway, quality of football was OK. First game was entertaining. Hopefully the next 2 match days are good.

$75 for 6 games of football is an absolute bargain! the pitch looked pretty ordinary from what i saw but the matches were fairly entertaining.

haha did any fights break out when you sydney fans put up the celtic jersey?

Yeah it's real cheap. Not many people got out to his because they had club football. Usually the cove has at least the middle bay completely full and the 2 side ones half full. And the sides are usually a lot more full.

Not really. Rangers fans were being pretty disgraceful in general, thug like. A few tried to get past security to have a go at us and about 100 beers were hurled (which brought the tally of beers thrown by rangers fans up to about 2002139317).

Heres a few pics. They put up a small banner thing in the 83rd minute, and they had it upside down. And The Cove (sydney supporter group) had a huge tifo down the front which we didnt put up at the start of the game because of lack of numbers. So when Rangers but up there thing upside down, we decided to show them how its done. We went and put our massive one up and it shut them up for a while.

Watching some of the match, it looked a lot more than 150 rangers fans for their match.

Lol, here's one of Rangers fans vs The Cove just after we put up the celtic jersey iirc:

Fun fun day. I just hope no Scottish teams ever come out here to play us again and our CEO agrees. Sydney were invited to this and had no say, but this is what he had to say on our forum:
Hi,

Glasgow Rangers have been invited by the promoters of the Festival of Football, as have all the other three clubs -therefore including Sydney FC.

I personally understand your anger and frustration with the behaviour of a group of so-called fans and agree with you that this is something we must keep far away from the Hyundai A-League.
Let's hope that our own Fans will come out in large numbers during the next two game days and show how to genuinely support your team.

Cheers,
Edwin
