The West Coast Eagles have extended their lead to 72 points in that quarter, having outscored Fremantle 5 goals to one.

Dean Cox started the quarter at full forward while Nic Naitanui took over the ruck duties, and he managed to mark and goal within four minutes. Brent Staker then converted a set shot from inside the goal square, before Mitchell Brown dribbled a miraculous goal from the boundary all along the ground for his third.

Garrick Ibbotson then replied for Fremantle with a excellent solo effort, running from almost half back to the forward 50 and banging it through.

Mitchell Brown was on fire though, and two minutes later he collected Naitanui's tap from the boundary throw in and slotted a tight goal from deep in the forward pocket for his fourth.

Quinten Lynch extended the lead to 72 points, the biggest of the game, two minutes later, snapping a cracking goal from 15 metres out.

The Eagles are leading the inside 50 count 36-10, and the disposals by 35.

The game appears to be all over already, but anything can happen in a Western Derby.

Goals (WCE): Brown 4, Lynch, Staker 2, Cox, Priddis, Rosa, Kennedy, McKinley.

Three Quarter Time
WCE 18.18.126 v FRE 4.2.26

There were signs of improvement early in the third term for the Fremantle Dockers, having scored the first goal of the quarter through Ryan Murphy from a set shot on the boundary.

Seven minutes later however, things rather returned to normal, with Ben McKinley kicking his second goal, followed by two consecutive Josh Kennedy goals resulting from marks off a lead.

The Eagles then fluffed a number of chances, kicking 0.6 from their next 8 shots at goal, before Eric Mackenzie and Dean Cox both goaled late in the term to bring the margin to an even hundred points.

The Eagles' biggest win over Fremantle currently stands at 117 points, and today they have a real chance of setting a new record.

The Eagles still lead the inside 50s 47 to 18, and the disposals by 49, but interestingly Fremantle lead the clearances 24-25. Clearly Fremantle's problems today have been caused mostly by their ball usage through the middle.

Goals (WCE): Brown 4, Kennedy 3, McKinley, Cox, Staker, Lynch 2, Rosa, Mackenzie, Priddis
Top Possessions (WCE): Lynch (23), Cox (21), Ebert (17)
Gone Cold (WCE): N/A

Goals (FRE): Ibbotson, Pavlich, Murphy, Headland
Top Possessions (FRE): McPharlin (20), Mundy (18), Crowley (18)
Gone Cold (FRE): Dodd (2), Grover (2), Hayden (4)

Carlton 8.10.58

West Coast Eagles 24.21.165
Fremantle 9.3.57

Richmond 14.14.98

Melbourne 9.20.74
Geelong 5.8.38

Western Bulldogs 7.15.57
St. Kilda 16.12.108

The round kicked off with a classic at the MCG between North and the Pies. The game could have gone either way with three minutes to go, but Collingwood broke away to establish their fourth win of the season. The Hawks put in a dominant display over the Blues, while the Eagles thrashed the Dockers by 108 points in Western Derby 29. The Lions managed to steal a win over the struggling Bombers in Brisbane, while Adelaide were simply too good for the Power in the showdown. Richmond put up a really good fight against the Swannies at the SCG, managing to steal the lead with a minute and a half to go, but the Swans kicked back to avoid their second loss of the season. The Demons were simply too good for the woeful Cats in what has to be upset of the season so far. The Demons could have won by more than 36 points, but innaccurate kicking held them back. The Western Bulldogs will now take their spot in being last after being outclassed by the superior Saints.

Quarter time at Subiaco Oval and it's the Demons who lead by five points. Melbourne appeared the sharper of the two teams for most of the first term, having kicked the opening three goals through Jack Watts, Cameron Bruce and Colin Sylvia scoring in the opening five minutes.

The Eagles hit back soon after however, with a goal through Mitchell Brown, who kicked five last week.

Several scrappy minutes past with no scores, before Eric Mackenzie converted a set shot on the boundary to close the gap to 5 points. Mackenzie then popped up a minute later with a miraculous dribbling goal from the boundary line to put the Eagles up by a point with a minute remaining.

With 27 seconds left, Brock McLean goaled to restore the Demon's lead.

Cameron Bruce and Nathan Jones are on fire for the Dees, with 22 disposals between them, while Beau Waters has ten for the home side.

Goals (WCE): Mackenzie 2, Brown
Top Possessions (WCE): Waters (10), S.Selwood (8), A.Selwood (6)
Gone Cold (WCE): McKinley (1), Naitanui (1), Hunter (1), Staker (1), Embley (1), Masten (1), Ebert (1)

Goals (MELB): Watts, Bruce, Sylvia, McLean
Top Possessions (MELB): Bruce (12), Jones (10), Wheatley (8)

The Eagles have regained the lead at Subiaco Oval, kicking 3.7 to 2.2 in a dominant quarter, though they should be further ahead.

Ben McKinley put the Eagles in front 67 seconds into the second term, before Brad Miller responded a few minutes later with a soccer off the ground in the goal square.

Kennedy and Dunn then traded goals, and the scores were level with two minutes remaining in the half. Brent Staker then marked 30 metres out directly in front, and converted for his first.

Goals (WCE): Mackenzie 2, Kennedy, McKinley, Brown, Staker
Top Possessions (WCE): Waters (16), Embley (12), S.Selwood (12)
Gone Cold (WCE): Naitanui (1), Masten (2)

We are all set for an absolute ripper between the West Coast Eagles and the Melbourne Demons here at Subiaco Oval. The Eagles, though being five points in front, have wasted opportunities, and barely deserve to be winning at the moment.

Russell Robertson goaled early in the third quarter for Melbourne after marking around 50 metres out from goal. With the scores level, Quinten Lynch managed to dribble the ball home from the boundary for his first major, before Josh Kennedy backed up his effort with a mark and goal two minutes later right on the boundary line.

McDonald drew the Demons back within 5 however, before Adam Hunter was sent to full forward for the Eagles, managing to kick a goal within 40 seconds.

With 40 seconds left in the term, that looked to be the end of the scoring, but Cameron Bruce had other ideas, marking and playing on to kick Melbourne's ninth goal and draw them within 5 points.

Bruce is on fire for Melbourne with 29 disposals and two goals, while Beau Waters has 26 touches for West Coast.

Goals (WCE): Mackenzie, Kennedy 2, Staker, Hunter, Lynch, Brown, McKinley
Top Possessions (WCE): Waters (26), Kennedy (18), Rosa (17)
Gone Cold (WCE): Naitanui (2), Masten (3), McKinley (4)

Goals (MELB): Bruce 2, Miller, Dunn, McLean, Sylvia, McDonald, Robertson, Watts
Top Possessions (MELB): Bruce (29), Jones (23), Whelan (20)
Gone Cold (MELB): Jamar (4), Batram (2), Carroll (1)
