The Lahore Qalandars' bowlers were again on the top as they dismissed the KKR team for just 251 runs with Morne Morkel and Shakib Al Hassan taking 4 wickets each. Morne Morkel was the wreckor in chief as he ripped through the top order claiming wickets of Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli and Misbah ul Haq. It was due to Corey Anderson's unbeated 82 that KKR reached a respectable total.

Royal Challengers Bangalore openers batted really well and stitched a partnership of 136 with both Stephen Cook and Dimuth Karunaratne scoring fifties. After Cook's wicket, Karunaratne continued but was once again dismissed in the 90s as he was caught in the slips by Cheteshwar Pujara on 93. Asad Shafiq also continued his last match form also to get out on 99. It was the 2nd batsman in this season who had got out on 99 with the other one also being from RCB. A 10th wicket partnership of 94 between Greme Cremer (54*) and Tim Southee (49) took RCB to a total of 424.

Melbourne Thunder sorted their opening woes and started the innings with a partnership of 83. Murali Vijay was the main batsmen at top of the order as he scored 57 runs in 108 balls. Then, some quick wickets fell and Melbourne were reduced to 180/4. Then, Angelo Mathews and James Neesham came together and stitched a 135 run partnership with both of them scoring fifties. Angelo Mathews neared his century but was caught behind on 92 from a sharp leg-spinner by Greame Cremer. Royal Challengers Bangalore once looked in trouble as they were 181 at the loss of 6 wickets with only Asad Shafiq scoring a fifty. The Melbourne batsmen had a horrible start as both of their opening batsmen were back in the pavilion by the score of 34. Afterwards, Cheteshwar Pujara and AB de Villiers got together and stitched a quick 212 runs partnership off just 216 balls with both getting centuries. Both played aggressively in order to reach the target before the time ran out but it was really difficult. Ravindra Jadeja got both of them out within the span of 9 runs and made sure the match ended in a draw. Ben Stokes was awarded man of the match for his innings of 154 in the RCB 2nd innings. Melbourne Thunder got the winning draw as they had the lead after the 1st innings.

The Victoria openers put up a great opening partnership of 157 with Usman Khawaja leading the charge with 86 off 101 deliveries.
