End of Season (2015) Update

First Division South:

We narrowly missed out on a playoff spot, but we couldn't really complain. It was a comfortable victory against Gunnilse IS but we started to decline quickly, as we only managed 1 goal in our next 5 games, although a goalless draw and a 1-0 win meant we had 4 points from those 5 matches. A 3-1 win away to Torslanda IK might have put our season back on the right track but one point from our next 2 matches meant we dropped to sixth, the lowest position since our 10th match of the season. We finally forced some results though, as we beat Husqvarna at home thanks to a Nsima Peter double (making him the club's top goalscorer). A Bjordjic MOTM performance against a relegated Utsiktens BK side put us back on our way (well they were relegated after that match), with Bjordjic scoring within 14 seconds, before setting up Magnusson's goal. We got away with a less than convincing performance against Gotene IF, recording a 2-1 win, with Johnny Mitrovic coming off the bench in his second appearance for the club (new youth recruit), and scoring within 2 minutes. After that win, we sat in second place, level on points with Norrby IF and 2 points ahead of FC Trollhattan. Our final match was against the Champions, Qviding, and to make it worse, we were away from home. The only thing we had on our side was the fact they had already won the title with a few games to spare. We pretty much controlled the game though, although that was much thanks to Lindqvist getting sent off on the half hour mark. We weren't able to make the most of our chances though, with not a single shot on target and in the end, we had drawn 0-0. Surprisingly, Norrby IF had lost their match but FC Trollhattan had recorded a 4-0 win away to FC Rosengard, to beat us on goal difference, with their +16 to our +13. We would have to wait another season at least before we could promote to the First Division Elite. Although I think we need another season in this league as well to have some of our youth players develop a little longer, especially with a lot of our starting XI starting to move towards their retirement.

League Statistics:

Star Players:

Bojan Djordjic - A great season from the captain, setting up 9 goals as well as scoring 7 himself. He could well play for another 3-4 seasons as well, with not a huge amount of talent coming through on the left wing.

Emil Jansson - Finished the season the way he started it, with consistently good performances. Even some strong performances from Sundgren couldn't take the place away from the younger defender.

Filip Magnusson - Surprising to have two defenders in the star players but Magnusson was very solid in his first season as a first choice central back, taking over from Linus Johansson (who the board has finally forgotten about, thank god). Anyway, a great season alongside Utkovic and he will be developing into an exceptional centre back.

Nsima Peter A solid season from the striker. Being the youngest of our strikers is a bonus as well, meaning he's still got some seasons left in him before our youth players area ready to step in as main first team contenders. Hoping for another good season from Peter next season, especially with Nilsson having a pretty average season.

Youth Candidates:

Johnny Mitrovic (YP2a) - A talented pacey striker who has a lot of potential. Came off the bench in two games this season, and scored within 2 minutes of being on the field in the second game, making him the youngest scorer for the club (as well as youngest player).

Calle Lindh (YP2b) - A very great prospect for the club. Is yet to play in the senior squad but has a great future ahead of him.

Joakim Nyman (YP2c) - He has the potential to be so much better than our current left fullbacks, a position we're severely lacking in. He doesn't look as great as the two players above him but I think Nyman is the most likely to get first team playing time the soonest, and I might throw him into the deep end next season and see how he goes.

Par Nilsson (YP2d) - A good looking central defender and likely to be the replacement for Utkovic when he finally hangs up his boots, although with a few players with potential in that position (Jansson and Rewar), there will be a strong fight for that position, although Jansson seems to prefer playing at right fullback anyway.

Hannes Wiberg (YP2e) - Not as much potential as Lindh but he'll be a good prospect for the future.

Amir Blom (YP2f) - Needs to be retrained to play as a winger, but he's got some potential. Not sure whether he'll ever be a key part of our side but he's here just in case.

Jens Nordstrom (YP2g) - Signed him due to our lack of decent players at left fullback but can't see him getting much playing time with Nyman ahead of him.

Bjorn Winqvist (YP2h) - Signed mainly due to his versatility in defence and to add an extra player, but never going to be first team material, just a decent backup.

Class of 2014:

Rasmus Arvidsson (YP1a) - Only the one league game this season, recording a shutout but good progression from the keeper. Tutoring from Assad has helped him as well. He's nearly as good as Eklund already and there's a good chance he'll be our first choice keeper the season after next.

Dennis Wrangel (YP1b) - Slow progression for Wrangel. Didn't really make any impact in the few games he played. Might try and loan him out next season.

Facilities:

Not a huge deal of news. Just getting our field relayed in the off-season with the condition starting to deteriorate.

Finances:

Still steady. Looks like we'll be making small profits every season with sponsorship money being a big bonus before small losses throughout the season. So we'll need some substantial income soon if we're going to be able to produce the best players we can possibly can.

Mid-Season Update

Swedish First Division South:

A good half-season in the league. A lot of goals have come from free kicks but regardless, we find ourselves in second place, 3 points behind Lunds BK and 4 ahead of IK Sleipner. This was also thanks to Jorgen Nilsson who finally found his feet, scoring 8 goals. 5 wins in our last 7 games has put us on track for at least a promotion playoff place. We had 3 pretty disappointing losses but apart from that, we have to be happy with our performance so far. Djordjic has been very strong, with 10 assists along with 2 goals. Magnusson and Nilsson have been the main stars along with the captain. Johnny Mitrovic has also had a solid season, coming off the bench to score a few goals and has seemed to have stolen Peter's place in the first team.

Swedish Cup:

Well again, we perform well above expectations. We had a narrow victory against Lunds BK first up before playing Norrby IF in our 2nd game away from home, and we stole a narrow 2-1 victory, Mitrovic scoring a double. We weren't very convincing in the 3rd round either, playing second division side, Syrianska IF Kerburan away from home, and we had to go all the way to 120 minutes to take a close 2-1 victory after extra time, Korkmaz's 96th minute own goal securing the result. We came up against Premier Division side, GAIS in the fourth round and I didn't expect anything from the game. We got lucky early on though, as Jansson chipped the keeper from outside the box before a wonder strike from Mitrovic put us further in the lead. Mitrovic then won us a penalty, as Djordjic converted it to make it 3-0 after 34 minutes. Juan Cook pulled one back for the opposition, before Mitrovic scored right on half-time so we would lead 4-1 at the break. It was all GAIS in the second half as we defended our hearts out to keep our lead and we did it for a long time before Cook scored in the 80th minute to give the visitors a slim chance. Magnusson's 93rd minute own goal came a little too late for GAIS as we held on for a miraculous 4-3 win, to take us through to the quarter final. We'll be playing a First Division North or First Division Elite side in the quarter-final so we do have a good chance of getting through to the semis before our run will probably end.

And a takeover at the club but the stupid new chairman decided not to invest anything in the club or anything -_-

Where have you gone treva. Anyway, might have an update ready by tonight. I have 6-9 matches left in the season (depending on Swedish Cup + whether I have to play in the promotion playoffs) so hopefully can have that done by tonight. Just got through one of the best youth recruitments. Had to completely make a new tactic for him (AMC) so did so and he's started all 3 matches since joining the club, and has been MOTM in all those matches, with 1 goal and 5 assists (2 ass, 1 goal + 1 ass, 2 ass in his 3 respective matches). He's really put our promotion run back on track.

Sorry mate, hectic few weeks with Venice, Bristol (Family), France (Music festival) and the girlfriend's graduation. Starting an internship Monday as well. Hopefully I'll find some time to crack on with FM soon.

What's the kid's stats like?

End of Season (2015) Update

First Division South:

Well we somehow managed to win the league. We really had no right to win the league but Lunds BK threw away the title with a disgraceful end to the season, only winning two of their last 8 games, and only one point in their final 3 games. We on the other hand only lost one game in the second half of the season, against Lunds BK. There were a number of performers. Sundgren was superb at right back, while Mitrovic has already shown his goalscoring talents, finishing with 11 goals, and 15 in all competitions, a record for the club. At only 17 years of age, this guy is going to be a monster. Pontus Nordstrom was superb playing in 7 games, scoring once and picking up 8 assists. He should be Premier Division quality should we ever get there. In the end, we might not have deserved to win the league but I'll sure take it. I'm not sure whether we can avoid relegation in the First Division Elite but there are some promising signs, with all 4 previously promoted sides from the First Division all avoided relegation in the Elite League this year so hopefully we'll be able to do the same.

Swedish Cup:

We struck a little lucky in our quarter final clash despite being favourites, edging out Orebro, Djordjic equalising in the 83rd minute before Peter scored a stoppage time winner to put us into the semi finals. We were a bit lucky with the draw, getting Vasteras SK at home, a First Division Elite side. We were the better side but failed to make chances pay and after 90 minutes, it was still 0-0. Extra time still couldn't separate the sides and so we had to go to a penalty shootout. Eiswohld hit the crossbar before Xhemajil converted his penalty. Djordjic and Durakovic scored for us and we led 3-2 after 3 shots each. Mitrovic's penalty was saved though after Johansson scored his penalty. Jakob Antonsson struck the post with his penalty though and Nsima Peter had the chance to put us into the final. And that was exactly what he did, calmly putting it in the bottom corner to win 4-3 on penalties and somehow, against all odds, we were into the final of the Swedish Cup. We never really stood a chance against AIK though, who won the Premier League, and in the end, a 2-0 loss wasn't that bad of a result. With AIK winning the Premier League, we actually qualified for the EURO Cup, which is pretty spectacular for a First Division club.

League Statistics:

Star Players:

Filip Magnusson - Stepped up with a great season. Goals didn't come as freely as the first half of the season, only scoring one since the mid-season break but a great season all up for the central defender.

Bojan Djordjic - The second half of the season wasn't as spectacular for the captain, but a few goals and ending up top of the assists chart ended another good season for the Fans' Player of the Year for the past two seasons. He's starting to age but I hope he still has a good couple of seasons left in him.

Filip Sundgren - He retained his spot in the first team and made the most of it, with a top class season. He'll be hoping for another good season in the First Division Elite next season.

Johnny Mitrovic (YP2a) - Great season for Mitrovic, already making a first team position his own. Was our top goalscorer, and will hope to be doing much of the same for the next few seasons.

Pontus Nordstrom (YP3a) - A gifted player and already showed how good he is. Made one of the most impressive debuts, and backed that up with another 2 MOTM performances. Since then, he's been solid and quickly put in 8 assists to finish second for the club in that statistic.

Youth Candidates:

Pontus Nordstrom (YP3a) - As said above, one of the most gifted players to enter our ranks. One to watch for sure.

Erik Holgersson (YP3b) - A central midfielder with a lot of potential. He and Lindh are likely to be a very solid midfield partnership in the near future.

Lucas Haglund (YP3c) - Not as great as Mitrovic but he has a fair bit of potential and should be able to make an impact in a few seasons time.

Patrick Svard (YP3d) - Not overly sure why I signed this guy. He has some potential but unlikely to be a first team starter with our already strong central defence and the rising of Jansson, Nilsson and Rewar.

Calle Martler (YP3e) - Has a bit of potential but I can't see him playing much of a role in our side, unless we don't have any other left wingers coming through our ranks anytime soon.

Class of 2014:

Rasmus Arvidson (YP1a) - Unlike Wrangel, Arvidson has had a solid run in the first team, and has shown his quality with some very good keeping performances, taking over from Eklund on a regular basis now.

Dennis Wrangel (YP1b) - No league appearances this season but a few cup appearances. Not really going to be playing a lot, I feel though, with Mitrovic well ahead of him.

Class of 2015:

Johnny Mitrovic (YP2a) - Has been great upfront, topping our goalscoring sheets, at only 17 years of age. He is going to be a vital part of our team in the upcoming seasons.

Calle Lindh (YP2b) - Continues to make good progress. Didn't get much first team football with our very strong central midfield but played a few games late in the season off the bench and also started one game, picking up an assist in that guy. He has a bright future in front of him and will make his way onto the bench next season.

Joakim Nyman (YP2c) - Has already taken over the left fullback role at the club, playing in 21 league games this season, the most of all our youth products. An average rating of 7 as well, showing that he is up for this level of football despite his young age.

Par Nilsson (YP2d) - Some development from the central defender including one cup game but still well away from breaking into the first team side.

Hannes Wiberg (YP2e) - Some solid performances in the youth side but not really close to getting into the first team.

Amir Blom (YP2f) - Not much to say about this guy.

Jens Nordstrom (YP2g)

Bjorn Winqvist (YP2h)

Finances:

We're in a stable financial position, making a small profit over the course of the season. Going to need more money if we're going to be able to upgrade our facilities though.

Mid-Season Update

First Division Elite:

It was an impressive start to the season, as we found ourselves around mid-table in 10th place after 15 games, with only 4 losses. That however included 7 draws, as we failed to really win many games. We went on an unbeaten streak of 8 league games, winning 3 and drawing 5 of those. Our defence still needs a lot of work though, only picking up one clean sheet, in our 3-0 win over Syrianska FC. Pontus Nordstrom has been the star for us, with 3 goals and 11 assists in 14 games. Mitrovic and Wrangel, who found his way into the starting XI, both have scored 4 goals as well, as has Jorgen Nilsson. Sundgren has again been our best player in defence, with Nyman and Utkovic doing a good job as well, although Magnusson has struggled to find consistency in the first half of the season.

Swedish Cup:

It was a nowhere near as impressive run as last season but we got to where I was asked to get to, winning the first 2 rounds against IF Limhamn Bunkeflo and Skiljebo SK respectively, both 2-1, before fellow First Division Elite side, IFK Varnamo knocked us out in the third round, as we struggled to threaten the opposition.

Europa League:

We drew Icelandic team, FH (not typing their full stupid name here) in the first qualifying round. Due to our very average status, I didn?t think we?d be able to manage much against FH but we completely dominated the first leg away from home, and were a little unlucky to have to settle for a 0-0 draw, with the opposition not getting a single shot on target. We were very threatening down the right hand side through Jansson and Amir Blom, on his debut, as the youngster played some key passes and nearly set up a couple of goals. Our dominance continued at home and it was Amir Blom who was proving to be a nice young talent, as he scored his first goal for the club in the fourth minute after a lovely ball from Nilsson and Blom slotted it past Gunnarsson from the edge of the box to take the lead. We controlled the game and although FH had a couple of chances to draw back level, we remained solid at the back and Wrangel put the game beyond all doubt with his 82nd minute goal, as we won 2-0. We would now play Holland?s Vitesse in the 2nd qualifying round, with an almost zero chance of winning that game. Still, winning the first game was quite an achievement and this will really make our finances look a lot better with another 78k appearance money along with the extra gate receipts.

Mid-Season Top Player:

Pontus Nordstrom (YP3a) - He has shown his class with an outstanding first half of the season. At only 17 years of age, it's remarkable how superb he has been. There has barely been a game where he hasn't made an impact and he can be hoping to keep up his impressive performances in the second half of the season.

sounds like an interesting challenge and you're doing really well from the looks of things. I would never have managed to win things with such a young team (unless I was hand picking the youngsters in the transfer market)

I'm going back to a new game, I got bored managing in the EPL, it's just not particularly fun. I was offered the Man U and then the Real Madrid job so I can take that as a moral victory and good point to finish. I kinda wish I'd stayed in switzerland and waited for YB bern or basel to offer me a job, I was clearly the best manager in the country. in the end though 5 seasons at Locarno was beginning to get on my nerves so I bailed when Fulham came calling and offered millions to spend rather than thousands.

started again with L'Aquila in the italian 4th tier, we'll see how that goes. so far an excellent start though.

Bump!

Sad to see this forum dying a slow death, maybe some of the old members who used to play FM see this and give the pentagon challenge another go.

I managed to get some serious FM time for the first time in probably a year over christmas and completed the first season of my latest pentagon challenge attempt.

Having started unemployed with a bit of past experience and the recommended coaching badges I got a job in Peru! The 2013 champions Universitario were my team and after finishing a narrow 2nd in the opening stage of the 2014 season we finished 1st in the closing stage (the usual two stage seasons in South America bollocks) to set up a two legged champions play-off against Leon de Huanuco. We thrashed them 4-0 in the first leg and 2-0 in the second to win the title.

This puts us into the group stages of the Copa Libertadores and on our showings against Santa Cruz (Brazil) and Argentinos Jrs (Argentina) in pre-season friendlies we could really do something in that competition. Obviously to win it I'll have to move clubs eventually but I'm poised for another good season before debating a move.

I'll update the first post as I did before. Hope some of you decide to get back into it.

welcome back treva. Tempted to try this challenge again. Been doing a palace save recently, promoted from the championship first season, mid table first season then 4th, 2nd and currently 2nd in my current season, tied with Tottenham for first after 26 games. Lewandowski has been superb with 29 goals while Perotti has been very great also with 12 goals and 12 assists and 8 MoM performances.

Also just a career summary of my older game that I played. Gave up with my youth challenge shortly after, and returned to Dundela where I've been since. Stopped playing a while ago since I got bored but still enjoyed my time.

Wasn't able to win all competitions in a single season but oh well. Also picked up a few points in the CL so quite happy with that.

How are you mate?

Definitely give it another crack. Out of the two of us you are more likely to complete it, haha.

I've started the new season with a few changes to the squad and a 2-1 win in our first game. Group stage draw for the Copa Libertadores is coming up in a few days. Desperately need a good draw there.

An absolute disgrace of a group stage draw for us.

We play the 2nd best team in South America - Atletico Mineiro, the mighty Boca Juniors and 29 time Paraguayan champions Cerro Porteno.

If we get through this group we deserve the trophy...
