FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Yeah Treva - I followed those rules once. I was going to post a LLM story in the Sports Interactive forums about my CS-Louhans quest, however I never ended up finishing it.

Have you seen the Susie Survivor? It looked alright but I'm too late to join.. :(

I think I cheat a bit with all of that though. I tend to make a lot of filters and a lot of searches to find players.. :(

I have a really good team talk strategy that helps me win a lot. I've learned a lot from a couple of years of FM.. like to consider myself a decent manager now. The one problem is I haven't really gone too long with a game - longest I went was to 2015 with Farsley as I took them to League One.

Yeh I've seen the Susie Survivor, but I also was too late to sign up.

I like trying to make FM as realistic as possible. Once actually made it from a lower league German team to Leeds, where I was sacked after Christmas of my first season in charge and soon moved to Sheffield Wednesday. I had a story on it in FMFormation but lost interest after the end of my first season as Wednesday manager.

I was thinking maybe we could set up some challenges here for a few FM players if people are interested. I remember me and Dan (PaulNixon1) did a couple of short challenges against each other, where I lost them both.

You got MSN Blake? If so send me a PM with your addy.

PM sent Treva.

On a side note.. San Marino 1-0 Slovakia. I think by unticking real players I have created a different team.. this is not the San Marino team that are 207th in the world! I haven't adjusted training or anything and only made some slight tactical adjustments with positioning. Haven't even used the corner settings at all yet.

We went up 47 positions in the world after beating Poland, I wonder what we will head to now? :D

I remember seeing a challenge with San Marino, where you got points for wins, making the WC and other stuff. By using 'un-real' players the team you have now will have been created using the potential ability/current ability of the real players. Must have got lucky I guess.

What a helter skelter start to my first Ukranian experience. After looking good in the several friendlies I played, as well as signing three trialists, including my now captain, we got off to the worst possible start.

Playing a side predicted to be in contention for promotion along with ourselves we got off to a shocking start having my centre back sent off in the 13th minute, this after we had already gone 1-0 down. Lutsenko, my new captain, banged in a goal from 25 yards to leave us level at HT. With just 5 mins to go we concede our first penalty of the season (There are more to come), and they bang it in for the 2-1 win.

Next game against a side who got smashed in the first game of the season 4-0. We again concede a penalty from a corner on 25 mins and they put it away. They soon make it 2-0 and at HT I give my side a rollicking. We come out all guns blazing and tear them to shreds, but still unable to find the back of the net. In the final few minutes I get desperate going with 4 forwards and just 2 midfielders. My young 17 year old strike smashes in his first ever goal from a free kick in the dying seconds but we lose 2-1.

3rd game starts and the opposition should be down to 10 men, the culprit of a two footed tackle getting away with just a yellow. Lutsenko once again smashes in a stunner, this time from 30 yards, to give us a HT lead. They equalise on the counter attack just after HT and so we are back to square one. My other young striker then hits a beauty of a strike to put us back into the lead with just over 20 mins to go. Then the two footed challenger from earlier picks up his second yellow card and is sent off (70 minutes later than it should've been). In the dying seconds we give away our 3rd penalty in just 3 games. Luckily they hit it against the post and our keeper collects it as the final whistle is blown.

A mental start to the season, and it's been enjoyable although frustrating at times. Hopefully the start of an immensely fun career.

monthlychallenge.jpg

Myself and Blake are organising a monthly Football Manager Challenge for those of you who enjoy playing FM. Each month will see a different challenge from a different Continent, with the top point scorer from the month being named as FM Challenge winner (may be able to get this as user tag).

If you are interested please post below just so we can get a rough idea of the numbers and whether it's worth doing.

Each challenge will have a set of rules, and for those without FM09 some challenges will be available to play on 08/07/06 as well. If we get a good amount of interest we shall set up the first challenge in the next few days.

As a small hint to what the first challenge may be the Continent we start in is Eastern Europe and it will feature one of the fiercest rivalries in World football (Europe will be split into East, West and Central).

Interested
Treva (FM09)
Blake (FM09)
Maney2k9 (FM08)
PhilD123 (FM09)
