FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Just made 2 free transfer signings for the end of the season, Edu Bedia (MC) and David Ospina (GK) so I'm not short on goalkeepers anymore with Caballero, Ospina and Gilks :p Was going to make an actual signing but Birmingham snatched Gunter who I was going to buy so I still need a decent left back since Ball is horrible half the time.

fearsome tweak yeah, just beat Liverpool 3-1 although Charlie Adam was injured late in the game, in the process but he's only out for 8-10 days so that's good. Cold opened things up with a stunning free kick to score in the 8th minute (and also now move into my starting XI over Ball) before Goodwillie scored right on half time to go into the break 2-0 up and looking comfortable. We did well in the second half, but Torres finally pulled one back after 58 minutes after some poor defending before Caballero saved a penalty from Kuyt and then we got a corner and it took 3 efforts from Evatt before the ball finally went in, as he headed it into Reina, kicked it at him again and finally shot before Reina made a mess of it and put it in his own goal and we won 3-1. Kuyt's match rating was 4.7 as well :p

Also signed some regen, Israel for 300k from Atletico Madrid who looks to be a star.

Anyway, here are some of my player stats this season.

David Goodwillie - 20 matches (18 starts), 15 goals, 1 assist, Av Rating 7.38
Chris Wood - 21 matches (19 starts), 7 goals, 7 assists, Av Rating 7.00
Charlie Adam - 18 matches (17 starts), 3 goals, 6 assists, Av Rating 7.21
James McFadden - 21 matches (21 starts), 2 goals, 7 assists, Av Rating 6.93
Elliot Grandin - 18 matches (18 starts), 4 goals, 3 assists, Av Rating 6.92
Jonathan Woodgate - 12 matches (12 starts) - Av Rating 6.91
Ludovic Sylvestre - 21 matches (20 starts) - 1 goal, 6 assists, Av Rating 6.85

Caballero just put in one of the best goalkeeping performances I've ever seen and nearly managed to grab a point at the Emirates but he finally let one in off a free kick, with Rosicky unmarked and placing it perfectly in the top corner leaving him no chance but other than that, he didn't let anything pass him despite them taking 26 shots as Caballero's match rating was 9.3.

Can't believe it :(

Nearly went all the way in the League Cup after being 1-1 against Man Utd after 120 minutes, then they missed the first penalty, I scored then they missed another 2 in a row but none of my players could hit the target and after being 1-1 after 5 shots each, they scored and then Taylor-Fletcher hit the crossbar.

Well the season is nearing the end and I'm right up there in 8th place after some excellent form, unbeaten in our last 8 league matches, and winning 4 of our last 5 and my next 2 opponents are Coventry and Wolves so they should be 2 wins before I face top opposition to end the season in Sunderland and Man Utd so I'll probably lose those games. At the moment, the top 10 looks like this.

1st: Man Utd - 78 points (35 matches)
2nd: Arsenal - 73 points (34 matches)
3rd: Sunderland - 71 points (34 matches)
4th: Man City - 68 points (34 matches)
5th: Liverpool - 63 points (34 matches)
6th: Chelsea - 63 points (34 matches)
7th: Tottenham - 53 points (34 matches)
8th: Blackpool - 51 points (34 matches)
9th: Everton - 47 points (34 matches)
10th: Wolves - 46 points (34 matches)

So really, it comes down to our next 2 matches to whether we finish above Tottenham. We play Coventry (20th) and Wolves (10th) while they play Birmingham (17th) and Blackburn (13th) and they finish the season with matches against Liverpool and Chelsea although Chelsea have gone horrible this season also including a loss against Tottenham so really this will be a tight finish. There's only really 800K pounds difference in one spot though so I don't really mind coming 8th but I'd rather 7th. I don't really have to worry about Everton as well as they play Birmingham but then play Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in their last 3 games so they'll be lucky to get more than 3 or 4 points in them games.

Also signed Mikael Dorsin for 2M pounds from Everton, the transfer going through on the 6th June but yeah, decent signing and will be a good replacement for Ball.

Anyone know how to create a league using FM2011 , I know you have to use the editor but how please help?

And how do you manage both teams when you have created a league?

Thanks

Well you can manage two or more teams at once by just going to Add Manager.

And I was thinking of doing a league but I couldn't really be bothered :p

Anyway, just finished my season, and nearly took 7th but Tottenham upset Liverpool on the final day to go above me, despite losing to Birmingham 2 matches earlier and I ended up finishing 8th, while Man Utd took the title after a 87th minute goal against us ended up proving the difference as Hernandez became a Man Utd hero, as Arsenal finished 2nd, only 2 points behind.

Goodwillie was the second top goalscorer with 23 goals, 4 behind Bent's 27, while Wood came third in the Young Player of the Year award having scored 12 goals and set up 8 in 33 matches over the season. But the biggest award was me taking the Manager of The Year Award by a fair way, amassing a total of 1004 manager points, 98 more than Sunderland's Steve Bruce who came second.

How do you set up the league?

Like do I create the comp first then add the teams in the comp or what , please explain?

haha, Liverpool have approached me and offered me a 5 year contract at Anfield but I'm not leaving for that ████ club, well I'm not leaving for any club, but especially not Liverpool :p

----------

Well create the competition and teams, then add the teams to the competition then Add Nation Rules and set the stuff up. Sorry, I haven't used it on FM11 so I can't go in much detail but that's what you should do.

Just confirmed the signings of Jeffren on a free transfer and Bebe from Man Utd for 2.5M. Also sold Gilks for 900K to Newcastle. Don't think I'll be making any other signings but you never know. Here is my likely starting XI for this season and values for the sake of it :p

GK: William Caballero 2.8M/David Ospina 3.6M

DL: Mikael Dorsin 2M
DC: Ian Evatt 1.8M
DC: Jonathan Woodgate 1.3M/Craig Cathcart 1.6M
DR: Lee Hodson 2.3M

ML: James McFadden 3.1M
MC: Charlie Adam 3.6M
MC: Ludovic Sylvestre 2.7M
MR: Elliot Grandin 2.8M/Bebe 2.5M

ST: David Goodwillie 7M
ST: Chris Wood 4.1M

Subs:

One of David Ospina/William Cabalerro
One of Craig Cathcart/Jonathan Woodgate
Neal Eardley 2.2M
Mark Noble 2.3M/Edu Bedia 2.9M
One of Elliot Grandin/Bebe or Jeffren 3.2M
Rolando Zarate 200K
DJ Campbell 1.2M

hmm, might need another backup striker.

Ok, dos Santos was transfer listed for nothing so just picked him up on a free transfer. Not too bad :p

And Sunderland are top of the ladder atm :p and they've played the least amount of games in the league.

In my third season with Chelsea, Blackburn was in the Top 4 for pretty much the whole season till the very last weekend. They just missed out on the 4th spot on goal difference and ended up finishing 5th.

Well got off to another good start in the Premier League winning 4, drawing 2 and losing 3 of our opening 9 games, including a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, defeating Bolton 3-1 and taking down West Ham and Everton both 4-1.

In the Everton match, Chris Wood was the star scoring a hattrick within 25 minutes before McFadden scored in the 32nd minute and we couldn't score from then on :p

But so far this season, Chris Wood has scored 7 goals, Goodwillie has scored 5 and McFadden has scored 3, while Sylvestre and Wood have 3 assists each while Jeffren, Goodwillie and McFadden have 2 each and Charlie Adam is topping the pass completion for the club with 87%, 7th in the league. And I'm currently in 7th place.

Well we're into January and the way I'm going, I could be challenging for a spot in Europe, currently 6th with 10 wins and 6 draws from 22 games, sitting ahead of Sunderland and Chelsea although both do have a game in hand but it's been a great season so far. I also made my biggest signing, capturing Phil Jones from Blackburn for 10M pounds and I don't think I'll be making any other signings as there are no real good free transfers available but I'll probably be looking to have Jones play as a central defender, an area that we have had a problem with and with Woodgate ageing, I need a replacement for him. Anyway, since my thrashing of Everton, I lost to Man City in the League Cup 4th Round the next week, drew Fulham and Birmingham and beat Newcastle before going down 3-1 to United before winning 3 in a row against Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Wigan, lost away to Liverpool, then had a disappointing draw at Stoke after Kompany scored a 95th minute goal to equalise, but got back on track with a 3-0 victory over Tottenham, 2 goals coming from my centre backs Evatt and Woodgate off corners but then had a poor run with a loss against Chelsea, drew Sunderland at home then lost in the FA Cup 3rd Rnd against Aston Villa and I have played one match since then, against Aston Villa again and Chris Wood's goal gave me a 1-0 victory.

Some stats:

Top Goalscorers:

Goodwillie 15 (21 appearances)
Wood 12 (20 appearances)
McFadden 3 (21 appearances)
dos Santos 2 (6 starts, 8 off bench)
Adam 2 (18 appearances)

Most Assists:

McFadden 4 (21 appearances)
Jeffren 3 (9 starts, 9 off bench)
Edu Bedia 2 (8 starts, 7 off bench)
Hodson 2 (19 appearances)

Highest Average Match Ratings:

Wood 7.40
Goodwillie 7.37
Sylvestre 7.08
Ospina 7.02 (15 starts, 1 off bench) - Caballero got injured during a match, which is also the reason why he has played so much
McFadden 7.00
Hodson 6.98
