FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Speaking of Chris Wood, his hat-trick helped West Brom to thrash Arsenal 3-0 at the Hawthorns recently in my game! :lol

Wood :p

But yeah, he's fairly awesome. My 2 strikers, Wood and Goodwillie signed for 3.9M in total are statistically the best striking pairs in the league.

Goodwillie and Wood (Blackpool) - 27 goals total (15-12)
Rooney and Berbatov (Man Utd) - 24 goals total (19-5)
Gyan and Bent (Sunderland) - 20 goals total (10-10)

Well pretty much all the other top teams (Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham) only play one striker but it still says something. Apart from Rooney, Tevez is the only player with more goals than Goodwillie with 16 and Chamakh (Arsenal) and Cisse (Chelsea) have 12 goals each and then Wood has 12 and the next best are on 10 goals.

Can't quite believe it. My first win against Arsenal in 6 appearances and Wood with a double although one was a late goal with the game beyond doubt but absolutely fantastic. Despite Ospina's great recent form, I decided this was the game to bring back in Caballero and he didn't disappoint only conceding the one goal with a match rating of 7.4. Our defenders were great, Hodson (7.1), Woodgate (7.0) and Jones was superb with a match rating of 8.7, the second highest behind Chris Wood. Midfield was good again with McFadden and Noble's goals giving them match ratings of 8.2 while dos Santos was 7.2 and Wood's 2 goals gave him a match rating of 8.9 while Goodwillie ran Arsenal ragged with the most tackles of any of our players, successfully completing 5 tackles (next best was 2) and making 7 vital runs and setting up a goal to have a match rating of 7.9. But I'm currently sitting 5th which is unbelievable, behind United, Arsenal, Liverpool and City while I have a 4 point lead over Sunderland (6th), 6 point lead over Aston Villa (7th) and 9 point lead over Blackburn (8th) with Chelsea in 9th.

:lol Thanks for pointing that out.

Goodwillie is currently with Sunderland in my game save. Didn't check his stats with them though. And good job there with your win over Arsenal. :thumbs

Wood scoring against Arsenal again, albeit in another game save! :p

I still can't believe I haven't had to sold any of my stars yet although I'm starting to have to pay them high wages. Adam, Wood and Goodwillie or Jones (one of them, not sure which one though) are on 1.8M a year salaries and Adam and Wood have the highest earner clause so I'm starting to pay a lot for them so I'm running at a loss each month and only down to about 10M now. Keinan wanted to leave the club after only making one appearance though and I offered him out for 1.3M and some German club accepted but he declined the contracts but Wolves also made a 1.3M pound offer and he is currently considering the contract. But I'm going to have to do a great deal to keep my 2 goalies at the club. Ospina and Caballero are heaps good, Ospina has had an average match rating of about 7.2 and Caballero's is about 7 or 7.1. Sorry, I'm not on the game so I'm just trying to remember as best I could.

But I've qualified for Europe, the Euro Cup and I'm sitting in 5th with one match to go after drawing my second last game (I think it was Blackburn) and falling below Liverpool although I think I was pretty safe from Sunderland IIRC as they are 3 points below me but my GD is much better. I play Liverpool in the final match so whoever wins will come 4th but I don't fancy my chances and I'm thinking I'm playing away from home and Wood is on a 500 minute goal draught atm wihch is annoying although it has allowed Goodwillie to go further into the lead and is now leading the goal charts with 28 goals, I think after Rooney suffered an injury late in the season and is only back for the final game and he has 25 goals so he'll need a hattrick to tie with Goodwillie provided he doesn't score.

Ok, I was a bit off. I lost my second last game 2-1 against Tottenham and drew Stoke the match before 0-0. Goodwillie has actually scored 27 goals. Jones, Adam and Wood are on the 1.8M per annum contracts and Noble is on 1.5M. God knows why I offered him so much. He's only made 10 starts in the last 2 seasons and 24 off the bench. Might try and get rid of him in the summer transfer window. I was right with my keepers ratings, Ospina's is 7.17 and Caballero's is 7.08.

And hmm, I'm sure I remembered getting an offer of 1.3M for Keinan from Wolves. Guess not.

Finished the season with a 2-2 draw against Liverpool which kept me in 4th place although we were looking like winning until Ospina kicked an own goal in the 88th minute. Arsenal secured the title, beating Man Utd by one point while Man City came third, Liverpool came 4th, I came 5th and Sunderland came 6th. Chelsea finished in 8th place which is pretty horrible :p And Bolton, Stoke and Wolves got relegated. And damn, I was looking forward to having Leeds in the Premier League but only won one of their last 7 games and finished 8th after being 1st and 2nd before the horrible run of form. But Peterborough, West Brom and either Leicester or Coventry (In the Playoff final) will be in the Premier League next season.

Anyway, onto the awards.

Nani took Player of the Year while Goodwillie came second despite having a higher match rating and Rooney came third.

Goodwillie was the top goalscorer in the league with 28 goals after scoring against Liverpool while Rooney scored 25 goals and Tevez scored 22.

Wood claimed the Players' Young Player Award and he smashed the other competitiors with a match rating of 7.38 with 20 goals and 10 assists, ahead of Poli with an average rating of 7.07 and N'Zonzi with an average rating of 7.15.

Goodwillie was named in the Team of the Year while Wood and Ospina were chosen on the bench and I came Runner Up in the Manager of the Year.

WTF. Bebe's a ██████. He wanted first team football late in the season, I said I'd give him some promising he played well to keep his spot, I played him in the last 3 games of the season from when he asked and now he wants to be transfer listed. The ****er can go.

Avram Grant :p

On the 22nd May, 2011, Carlo Ancelotti was sacked and David Moyes was appointed as manager. He was then sacked on the 15th December 2012 and Avram Grant's been in charge since. His record in charge though has been horrible.

Chelsea Stats (242 days in charge)

Games Played: 29
Games Won: 10
Games Drawn: 9
Games Lost: 10
Win Ratio: 34%

And lol, the only clubs that have had the same manager since 2010 apart from Blackpool and Fulham under Mark Hughes and West Brom under Roberto Di Matteo. All other teams have had some sort of management chance. Alex Ferguson finally retired as well :p

Grumpy Grant? Oh dear...

Yeah, Sir Alex has retired in my game as well. Seems that he will retire about 2 seasons in after you start the game.

Just found out that my Blackpool save has been lost during my sytem backup/restore. Was halfway through my fourth season! Sad times.

Reached my third successive Champions League final and have won the previous two against Barcelona and Ajax. But, it's third time unlucky! Lost out 1-0 to Porto and was left to rue the missed chances in the game! :facepalm

Two of my key players - Pjanic and Sanchez - missed the game through suspension as well! :facepalm:facepalm

My Real Madrid team for the 2011/12 season first half
Casillas, Capdevila, Albiol, Carvalho, Ramos, Di Maria, Xabi Alonso/Khedira, Shelvey/Ozil, C.Ronaldo/P.Leon, Canales/Granero/Ozil, Rooney/Higuain.

Loaned Neymar out due to terrible perfomances. Marquez too went like that last season December because of disciplinary issues. Pepe and Kaka got a 4 month injuries in the very first game of the season after a good game for them.

2 network games on the go.

sunderland/newcastle with a housemate. I'm the toon.

neither had great starts, i have 4 points form 5 games he has 2 from 4. But he crashed out of the league cup and i've just dumped out city on penalties.

The other one is 4 italian sides, not in the cl, i'm fiorentina, they are napoli, juve + palermo. I'm the only one not in the europa league but i like some of the young players I have. Even if jovetic is out for the season...

Having need to play 3 big teams in consecutive league games is really really bad for health, at least for me! :lol

DAMN IT SI!!! :mad

started new game with RC Lens in france, as they have a lot of youth players who went world class on my other game.

first season was a bit of a mare, zero money to spend, and wages maxed out. the youngsters were a little too young so only got bit parts, so it was mainly shipping out players and bringing in a few loans here and there. media prediction 11th, finished 16th. went on holiday for parts and my assistant manager worked wonders otherwise i'd have went down. Chucho came in janary and was a revelation. 8 goals in 14 games, the only senior striker not on loan scored 1 from 20 starts all season...

so barely surviving the sack i somehow got 14million to spend for the 2nd season. sold a few more players and brought in a few solid players. OGC Nice got relegated so in came young keeper Ospina for 5million (first choice keeper) Bovo, luis jimenez and obodo all came in on free transfers to sort out the midfield. Pineda came is for 3.7million as a much needed good, versatile LB. Kompany, cairnet, kadlec and destro all in on loan for the season.

finally I only had benitez as a senior striker on the books permanently, after much negotaiont I brought in sanogo for 6million. still very young but will be world class in few seasons time.

and i'm flying. 4th in ligue one after 14 matches. with only having to avoid relegation.of the entire first XI not one was at the club when i joined, most subs were, but are sitll all ~18 years old.
