I've never seen Powell play, but some people are saying he's better than Scholes and Beckham were at 18 - thoughts? Of course, he'll have to go some to live up to that.
Maybe, given our Gormless Glazer millstone, Sir Alex's strategy is to let City have their own way for a bit, and bed in all these youngsters - in preparation for yet another era of Utd dominance.
Seriously though, we need a marquee signing or two to go alongside them - even the 'Fergie Fledglings' was built around a solid experienced spine - Schmeichel, Bruce/Pallister, Keane and Cantona. If we can get one or two big signings in, then that may be a viable strategy. Maybe the way to deal with City is to play the 'long game'.

As long as the Glazers remain at Old Trafford, there will be something to moan about. They are the only reason we can't attract the sort of players City are - despite what Mr Gill has been spouting this week.
Oh and I'm sure Powell will play - Sir Alex doesn't sign or bring kids through for nothing.

Must be tough being able to just lay down 7m on a complete punt. Everton had to save for a decade to buy Jelavic (I think Kenwright is putting in an extra shift at Tescos just to pay his wages).
