Football Transfers Thread

He may just become another Chamakh too.

Are PSG the new Man City?

They certainly are one in the making. As Don mentioned in one of his posts above - will be interesting to see how the transfer activities of Man City, Chelsea (who're already on fire!), Anzhi, PSG and Malaga pan out this summer. Looking increasingly dangerous by the days.

Hmmm...I've got a bad feeling that this is only confirms that RvP will be leaving this summer.

If Giroud carrys his form into the Prem, he'll be far too good for a bench role, which means RvP will be shifted into a deeper role or he'll leave.

Means nothing. Arsenal are so predictable, so playing two strikers at times, like at home, is necessary. More than anything it means we have a decent striker you can replace RvP when he needs a rest. Wenger has someone he trusts now, Chamakh and Park didn't play because they were terrible. He will play a lot of games I'm sure.

RvP is decent in a deeper role anyway. Giroud seems a late bloomer also.

Now there are rumours that City want to sell Tevez among several others to finance a bid for RvP. Dumb move, if it's true - do they really think they would've even come close to winning the league were it not for Tevez' return? There aren't that many like him - so hopefully they do sell him. :D

I don't see RvP going to another Premiership club myself.

If RVP goes it will be with the intention of winning something. Man City are a pretty good bet to win a League Title and potentially more.

How I wish RvP joins Man City. Think it'd be City's sixth Arsenal import in that case (Vieria, Clichy, Nasri, Kolo Toure, Adebayor, RvP) :D

Along similar lines, should Hulk join Chelsea - it'd be their ninth Porto import over the last 7 years (including their managers in Mourinho & Andre Villas Boas).

You forgot Patrick, Kolo Emmanuel.

RVP isn't going anywhere. I have a hunch his wife has complete control over him, a bit like Thiago Silva's wife. She has said it would be horrible for him to leave the club after the club was so supportive to him when he has struggling with his injuries and attitude as a youngster. Very true. His father also ruled out City, Barca and Real. Had City still been a realistic option though, I would've been certain that he'd have left.

If he left though, especially to Man City, it would really signal the end of Arsenal as a team that hopes to challenge for a trophy within the next 5-10 years, because really, what kind of message is it sending?

Porto on the other hand though. That's different. They are the best in the world at picking out young Brazilian talent, hence all the money. Portugal is obviously the closest thing to Brazil in Europe. it's a fairly poor league as well, so they can easily win it while still selling their best players, plus they have succeeded in the CL in the last ten years. Very successful and profitable club with some of the best scouts in the world. Perfect system really, their gain that they've sold so many players to Chelsea.

Arsenal eye CSKA Moscow ace Alan Dzagoev | Mail Online

Would be a great signing, but I don't understand why would Arsenal need another midfielder unless they're replacing Rosicky or Arteta.

In addition to M'Vila, wouldn't mind an AM as well. Someone like Dzagoev, Belhanda, Honda or Eriksen or something. Even Arshavin if he stops playing on the wings and starts trying. He will be very cheap as he has just six months on his contract, though I'm sure a bidding war will start which will drive the price up, and Wenger doesn't take part in bidding wars. Chelsea should get him.

Rosicky is a good player, but barely contributes in assists or goals. The AM position is very important in our system, and he just doesn't cut it as a starter, and plus he is injury prone. A great sub though.

Diaby could be a good player, but needs to be sold so space can be made. Ramsey could do with a loan too.

Arteta isn't an AM, sits deep so Dzagoev won't affect him really at all. I see Song, M'Vila if we sign him, Ramsey or Wilshere as a replacement for Arteta in a few years, most likely Wilshere.

30 m for a 29 year old striker who has had one injury free season is great. Wouldn't mind it if there was a top class replacement, but that won't happen.

Though I would take the offer of sell RVP now to anyone (even Man City) and take Falcao or Cavani next season. Won't happen, but would be awesome. RVP is a fairly rare sort of striker though, fairly difficult to get someone so creative and with such good link-up play up front who can also bang in 30 goals in a season. The guys we've been linked to are fairly poor and not really good enough to replace a player like RVP just yet. Llorente could do the job, but a bit old for my liking. Rondon, well, not good enough for the 15 m that is being quoted. Giroud, while he is good, will take at least a season to settle in and still he may not be able to replace RVP. Guys like Joselu are far too young and have never played at the top level, Matias Suarez isn't good enough and Doumbia will cost over 20 m, far too much for a striker just playing in the Russian League.

Still it's Mirror, so really RVP may still sign. Walcott leaving would be great, replacing him with someone like Afellay when Afellay would cost half what Walcott would is great business. Walcott if he leaves will go to Pool I reckon. The club he supported as a boy. I believe Song is looking to leave too, and is on the last year of his contract. If we get M'Vila, a growing Coquelin is a more than good enough back-up and Song could get us a decent bit of money. So tbh don't really care if either leaves.

Sturridge says he wants to leave. Would be the loss of a versatile player for Chelsea if he leaves.
