It's simple, there's a reason his price has doubled over the summer. It's all demand, and also the fact that these days teams have bottomless bank accounts. There is no doubt that he is quality and he can currently start for a top team, in addition to having 15 years in him and plenty of potential to reach world class level.

I see Moreno as possibly having a higher ceiling but Shaw is the better bet to reach a world class level.

I still find it hilarious that he's going for the same amount that we got Ozil for.

The Saints wont get ripped apart imho. I feel they will sign 3-4 very good players on the cheap to replace the departing trio of Lallana, Shaw and Lambert. Approximately, they will get transfer funds of 60M on selling the three alone. For 60M, you can get a few very decent players.

How bloody ridiculous

They should have signed Ashley Cole on a free, he's got another 3/4 years in him.

Shaw is and will never be close to Coles calibre.

They should have spent the 30m they have wasted on Shaw on someone further up the pitch where titles and CL football is decided, a left back is not gonna make or break your season.

A good holding midfielder would have been a start

Sadly that's not how it works, the same caliber of players aren't going to want to move to a club like Southampton, sadly.

I understand your point but I would like to clarify that I did not mean people of Shaw's or Lambert's calibre. What I meant was, they would be able to get some decent players at a cheap rate from leagues like the Ligue 1 or the BuLi.
