After the euphoria of winning the World Cup, India?s ODI campaign has derailed a bit with cracks beginning to appear and the captain seemingly losing his Midas Touch. Their W/L ratio fell from 2.20 in the year before the World Cup to 1.55 in the last 12 months. The team?s performance outside the subcontinent has been a big let-down compared to the expectations from the world champions. Managing to miraculously squeeze out a 2 month window from the international calendar, the BCCI has come up with a new domestic competition called the Futures Cup to gauge and test the Indian players and give them a platform to show their limited overs abilities.​

RULES :

1. The competition will have 6 teams each led by an established Indian cricketer. The naming of the teams will also be done in that manner. For example you may have Sehwag?s Demolishers or Sachin?s Warriors, and similar.
2. Each team will have a squad of 16 Indian players. Only players who haven?t retired from ODIs are allowed.
3. Each team will play the other teams twice with the top ranked team at the end of the league stage going through to the finals. The 2nd and 3rd ranked teams will play in the semi-final to decide the other finalist.
4. A player may only play a maximum of 8 matches in the league stage. However, the captain can play all the 10 matches.
5. The squad selection will be done by draft. There will be 9 rounds. The manager has to select 1 player each in the first 3 rounds and then 2 players per round for the next 6 rounds.

Note ? A part of my motivation in running this league is to test out my new simulator titled, for want of a better name, Sim?s Cricket Sim. Currently, you may select only 5 players to bowl in a match (10 overs each), so do take that into consideration while selecting your squad.

Note 2 : The icons next to a player are only for a general idea. They do not necessarily reflect the ratings of the players. I have sometimes classified batsman who bowl a bit (ala Raina) and bowlers who can bat (ala Harbhajan) as batsmen and bowlers respectively. You may choose a batsman who is part-time bowler to bowl during a match, however do know that the bowler will have to bowl 10 overs.

As this is my first league (I ran one earlier but it was left midway), please bear with me as I find my way about the design and presentation. I would be very grateful for any suggestions regarding the running of the league.

I should have decided before-hand how I was going to decide whom to assign which team. Everyone can still participate as managers and co-managers, but it might be a bit tricky to sort 3 people wanting Sehwag.
I think I'll have to allot that randomly as I hadn't specified first-come first-served or anything of that sort.
